I lived in LA for over a decade, and Miami for 2 years. In Miami, I made twice as much as a bartender/DJ, and paid half as much to live ON THE BEACH (compared to living inland in LA). Quality of life, there is no comparison! LA is overcrowded, has rampant homelessness, horrific traffic, horrible air quality, and an energy of pretentiousness. IMHO live in LA only if you are in the "industry". Miami has more of a "spicy" feel, more varied latin cultures than LA, people are more open, more sexual, and overall happier. That rubs off on you, believe me! Funny how two cities with great beaches, weather, and latin culture can be so different!

@@ChrisVincelli Besides what I just mentioned, in the end I think it boils down to an energetic thing. One man's trash is another man's treasure... when I first moved to LA, I was in love with it. I think it was in alignment with who I was back then. Now, I feel I have grown out of it and prefer cities like NYC, Paris, and Madrid. Cities that feel more sophisticated and culturally rich. LA has its pluses for sure. Its certainly not the worst city to live in the states. It just feels like too much of a dirty sprawling suburb to me. And the beaches are fine...but if I want beach, I would much rather be in San Diego or Miami, where its more laid back, and the "city" is more beautiful. I find that cities that are more walkable, and not built around the automobile are just far more interesting. At least Miami Beach is walkable and bikeable all the way from 5th all the way up to Fontainbleu

isn't South Florida more oriented towards wealthy? Rent prices are high and real estate prices are in top of the most expensive
@Fourwindsofsuccess Жыл бұрын
Yes it sure is. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL which is Broward County, it’s a south florida city because people truly think it’s all about Miami when I never lived in Miami a day of my life. Florida is a beautiful place but you’re only going to be happy with you have wealth established prior to moving there or you’re some famous/rich person or you’re a successful businessman or have a legit college degree career path with years of experience in something to make six figures. These people have this indoctrination of Florida being heaven all the time. You have to come there already successful if not you’re gonna be stuck working 2-3 basic ass jobs to pay a high rent income or you’re gonna be roommating or renting a small cottage out the back of someone’s home. You need a car as well even though some of Florida does have public transportation buses and Tri-rails. Florida isn’t the state to go to if you trying to restart your life or rebuild some new life from scratch or “grind” you will get burned out not enjoying yourself because you’re working majority like hell to cover those bills. I’ve warned so many lost, delusional, gullible, ignorant, and desperate Americans who leave their amazing states to come to Florida state. It’s truly a grind out there and it’s NOT the state to be trying to be homeless in at all. Florida don’t care about the poverty class, working class, or middle class. It’s only for upper middle class and the wealthy that’s who live their best lives there 90%. The Floridians natives sit there and like suffering financially in that state because they are afraid to leave because they believe anything outside of Florida is not safe or they will bored or miserable. The jobs are also low paying like hell 😂. So tread lightly with these content creators. Like I said if you’re established you’ll do good there. The weather is something they all don’t mention either. Florida has the highest number of hurricanes in the US, with 120 hurricanes making landfall in Florida, or 40.4% of all US hurricanes. So, they just truly don’t care at all. The rain is good but it gets brutal with winds and I notice the climate has changed there like now it gets huge floods that’s like 2ft- 4ft of storm surges as well compared to 2004 when I was a kid. It’s always floods and it’s only a matter of time Florida starts to get huge storm surges damaging those homes and people cars. I don’t want to be under water and even though I grew up there, it’s not gonna be a place I purchase a home maybe a tiny condo to visit but not my main residence. The wealthy can fly out when these storms come but majority of Floridians stay there toughing it out. So the wealthy or well off or people with more than enough money aren’t bothered by nothing. You’ll be shocked people be like out there struggling, also social services don’t help you in Florida at all if you’re able bodied and fall on hard times without support or kids; you will be suffering. Their south Florida “Taskforce” will have you outside at a local bus stop sleeping or waiting years for a homeless shelter beds. All of Florida is the same there’s no difference. I decided to leave.

@@Fourwindsofsuccess Thanks for your comment! There is this tendency to brag about moving to Miami and mostly the rich are moving there. Rich business people who relocate there or spoiled rich kids. Otherwise those who are not financially strong rent a room with 5 others. Dating is also based on material things. It is like Las Vegas and California where dating is all about financial status. As I did a research most gold diggers are in places like Miami and cities that are similar to Miami like Boca Raton. Can't say about whole Florida.There are plenty of street interviews, podcasts, forum topics and it proves this point that dating in Miami is only based on how rich you are. Just wonder, which state/city is good to start? Or in general which places are the better options? Allen Cherry Allen, I think you need to reevaluate what I said and didn’t say, considering that I didn’t say anything about population or counties lol. I also speak next to perfect Spanish, so no trouble there either. If I choose, I could also purchase a fairly affordable ticket to Mexico City, where there is a large Argentine and Uruguayan presence as well as a burgeoning Colombian presence. You have made one of the most spot on videos I've ever seen on this subject. However, I have to mention that in some respects there's no contest. LA and Miami are not the same. LA is way, way more developed, from the variety of businesses to the options available, to the products on the market, to infrastructure, and public transportation (which still sucks compared to New York and San Francisco), LA has more development. You can feel the difference, that California is just a much richer state than Florida, I mean it's the richest in the nation, and the 7th economy of the world on its own, and you can tell. Having said that, yes Miami downtown, particularly Miami Beach feels like some of the most luxurious places in the world. The difference however lies in contrasts. In LA, yes, there's skid row, which is extremely sad, and particularly on 3rd going from Downtown to Beverly Hills you see contrasts in poverty and wealth that are extreme. But here in Miami as soon as you step out of Coral Gables, which is kind of like Pasadena to me, you enter what looks like Huntington Park in LA. It just seems like the nice areas in Miami are in smaller pockets, US 1 being very beautiful though. The beaches is another point where ee have to be honest. The beach in LA sucks compared to Miami. It's no contest. The water is cold all year round, not even safe to swim according to the Health department because the temperature never or rarely reaches 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The sand is less refined. The beaches un Cali are for skate boarding, surfing, if you're part of that very small group of people who like surfing, and just walking around. I'm from Cuba and to me the beach is not for walking around. It's for swimming and enjoying the water and each other. So a very important distinction needs to be emphasized on that point because the beaches are not comparable. People do drive like maniacs here in Miami though. I've lived most of my life in LA, originally from Cuba and now living in Miami, but I've visited Miami many times before. BTW the traffic is way worse now than even just a few years ago in Miami. One more note. There's way more beautiful girls in Miami, and I don't mean Miami Beach with the babes in Miami Beach, I mean everywhere from LA Carreta to el Palacio de Los Jugos, FIU University, just everywhere, and the black chicks here are also hotter than in LA. More beautiful women and they actually make eye contact. I don't know why people are just so insecure in LA, or way too arrogant, like they jump between extremes of insecurity and pretentiousness. Having said that though, the most rude people I've encountered have been here in Miami. People are less insecure here, and have an older sense of what having money means, meaning they think more in terms of class here in Miami. It feels like there's less of a middle class here in Miami. People from Coral Gables act as if they were from Beverly Hills, whereas in LA, the equivalent would be people from Pasadena, who don't act like they are important just because they have money.

@chrisalex001 Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisVincelli The weather. I also don't feel like I am in the middle of nowhere. Let me explain, yes LA is much bigger, but there's less of a connection to Europe, particularly Spain. LA would feel good for people with Mexican, Peruvian, Central American, and especially Asian ancestry since California has strong ties to Asia, but for Cubans who are particularly attached to Spain, LA is another story. I also like that Miami is less crowded. I know that sounds like a joke to people in Miami but compared to LA it's more chill, especially on the weekends. I also like the proximity to Cuba, the time zone being ahead of the rest of the country, and the fact that the beach water temperature is warm.

@@cmad2345Florida isn’t the future because it’s been said in the next 50-100 years it will suffer from far more damage form those hurricanes. I’m a south Floridian born and raised in Fort Lauderdale NOT Miami , can’t tell me this lie only desperate northerners or mid west people think Florida is the world because y’all hate snow so much until you get a wake up call. Florida is for those who’s already accomplished wealth or have a really good college education to make big bucks or a really successful business owner to live there. It’s not for random lost souls to come which is why they get lost there or become broke or they’re miserable. You won’t even have time to live comfortably because if you’re not wealthy or making six figures or more or an established person then you’ll be working 2-3 jobs to live comfortable. The jobs are very low paying in Florida as well which no one questions unless you have a nice degree at least a bachelors or master will help you make way more in Florida without struggling. It’s so many Uber drivers or lyft driver that are suffering out there or they have 3-5 hustles to struggling out there. If you’re not well off you will be roommating there or living in Craigslist rentals in someone’s cottage/effencies ir you’ll be homeless. Florida has lots of homeless people to and their social programs don’t truly help nobody unless the ones they accommodate. It’s that simple also the hurricane season. People always thinking hurricanes are a play thing I’ve survived 5, I’m sick of that cutting into my life. It’s not a fun game because that land has started to get more flooded as time goes by.

I don't like how you used the word "American" to compare both cities. You're basically equating the term 'American' to whiteness. And because Miami isn't heavily concentrated in white culture compared to LA that makes it feel less "American"? America is a melting pot of different cultures, that's the most American you can get. Having only one main type of food, music, activities, etc has never been the reason why people love to be in this country, or cities like NYC. I think that comment you made sounded super ignorant, especially from someone who clearly isn't even white himself. And this is what white wash, brainwashing looks like.

@@thebabbler8867 false. BROWARD COUNTY is NOT Miami. I am a Broward County born and raised at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. It’s not. Florida is a huge state with cities within cities miami is by far the dirtier and loads of violence is you’re not well off or wealthy. It’s not the place to be trying to struggle and strive to build a family. Broward is 45 minutes away from Dade County. The way y’all indoctrinate y’all selves you all will say Miami is the capital. Its not the best city there in Florida either, it’s a huge latin community majority and most of the black community lives in those violent areas unless they’re wealthy. There’s rarely any white people in Miami, some but not a lot most people there are Latin. Miami so high costing effectively and y’all hate to admit that. California is better than Florida because Florida weather is getting worst and has the most dangerous hurricanes and that land isn’t gonna stand strong against it after a whole years from now, it’ll be a Katrina event that comes there which the poor and working class and middle class will suffer the most in Florida from the damage. That weather is bi-polar and always raining for nothing with floods all over as years has come recently or storm surge from a simple thunderstorm then it gets hot but it’s not the place to be trying to be the life of the party or chilling back or living cheap. You must be wealthy to live in Florida state period regardless of the county or city. Florida don’t take care of their residents well when they fall on shed times either so that’s not the place for that struggle stuff.

Trying to generalize a metropolitan area of 18 million people...after spending 3 months there...is foolish. Also, trying to lump Miami Dade in with Broward is foolish. Two different worlds. Your generalizations about LA are stereotypical. Basically, you visited the place and did some googling. To truly understand it, to know it, would take you a bit longer than three months. LA is a universe filled with many planets and constellations. Miami is a planet with a few moons. I've actually lived in both places.

You told the truth here. All of them are indoctrinated by the whole Florida beach life’s and party life. I was born and raised to tell people lurking, Florida is ONLY for those who’s already established and wealthy or you better have a damn good college degree with experience or a nice business established for you or passive income that generates big money. If not you’ll be working 2-3 jobs while roomating with people or renting small tiny effencies off Craigslist barely making it by. Like people can make it but it will be hard as hell because the jobs pay low to. Then yeah Florida has diversity which I loved to because I was born and raised there but there’s other better places. Florida is nice but you better have already been accomplished. It’s not a state to come seek out some huge change or big big opportunities unless you’re already a wealthy person or educated person with a good degree once again I repeat. Lastly, Florida get the most hurricanes like hell. People don’t wanna admit it’s a wide spread of hurricane attacks, like they’re always hit or under a threat from June-December every year. Those floods has gotten worse because of the climate changes there or the erosion because I’ve lived through 5 hurricanes, I always hated those things it’s not a game. Someday I sense Florida will get hit by a category 5 like it always does but this time it won’t take damage like it once did years ago. It’ll be like a Katrina event there if people don’t truly think about buying property there or living there permanently. The weld that will have enough to fly out for safety but those natives, poor people, middle, and working class will suffer that fate. This year they had a horrible flood in my hometown storm surge never gotten that high during my childhood. It was horrible. Broward and Dade are 45 minutes away. They’re not the same city. Broward is far more cleaner/safer but is expensive if you want to live good unless you’ll be trapped roommating or something. Miami areas are rundown and always have shootings on channel 7 news every night or day even on south beach. The nice areas in Miami is what they show, you got to have the money bag to live there. Those hoods in Miami are far dangerous, so people better be safe and be strategic about their move. They think they’re gonna live cheap and party away while chilling, nah every true Floridian know is a grind there if you don’t come from wealth or a well off background. I had a rough upbringing and come from working class from poverty as a kid. It was hard for my relatives some moved out to hit up tiger huger paying states and some stayed there with the struggle because they’re in fear of thinking they’re missing something while not being in Florida. I lived in Fort Lauderdale, West Park, Hollywood, Davie, Plantation, Lauderhill, Sunrise, Lauderdale Lakes, Oakland Park, and Pembroke Pines. All are in broward county not dade, I never lived in Miami because I never felt safe when I would visit there.

Most Floridians think it’s a joke until that and can’t sustain that storm no more and it has a Katrina event. I’m good, Floridia weather is horrible. It’s always up and down raining, you could rarely enjoy that sun like what people don’t truly wanna admit.

Living in LA for a few months tells you nothing about living there. You ned to spend time somewhere over a year and learn it. Honestly, Miami is a wasteland. There is no progress nor upward mobility. LA is the second-largest city in the United States and Miami will never have the opportunity that LA does. Driving in Miami is insanity and the people for the most part are pricks.

Do you feel like driving in Los Angeles is better than driving in Miami?
@bendecko23743 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisVincelli I do because the drivers are at least courteous. I had a gun pulled on me once driving down Biscayne in the North Miami Beach area. I also had a gun pulled on me, on Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale while at a stop light because I refused to run the light. It is way too aggressive down there. I like the chilled West Coast vibe.

@@thebabbler8867Most people who make it big don’t come out of Florida. It’s a reason why because that state is hard to truly come from under the influence that you need to get tf out to go seek higher paying jobs, more suburban areas or to get situated in a better environment. The weather is far worst than any other southern state. Georgia weather is better than Florida, Florida has the most hurricanes on the planet earth. I’m sick of people not being honest about this to and ignoring and some even throw parties during hurricanes or laughing but then floods has been occurring every hurricane season June- December. It’s a really delusions you’re under and this whole chela living to enjoy sun and beaches, it’s always raining there majority of the time then you’ll get the sunshine every few days or so then it’ll be a whole flash floods. Them low paying jobs will have you struggling and grinding, it’s tough growing up in Florida if you don’t come from wealth or a good educated background. You will end up in the wrong crowd or poor or something if you don’t have a plan. You’re gonna be living roommating or hostels or airbnbs or small tiny studios off Craigslist if you’re not already established. It’s not a place to come blow up to be successful like people think. The crime in south Florida is tough that’s why you gots to be safe out there. They’re trigger happy there. Channel WSVN 7 always reprising shootings in south Florida or a robbery or it’s drug dealing; it’s not gangs but it’s shootings in Miami unless you’re rich to be in Miami. Them areas be run down and dirty looking in Florida or basic if you’re not wealthy or have decent income. The housing assistance is horrible to. You’ll be dead by the time they claim you for help.

He nailed two things about Miami the less "USA" American culture in miami and la having more post high school education opportunities. The main problem with this video is he is mostly comparing the LA metro area to just the County of miami-dade or wade county 😂. Miami metro includes broward and palm beach counties, which he mentions in the beginning but rarely talks about the beaches or activities in Broward and palm beach counties. For instance, the USA's biggest boat parade and biggest USA air force/navy show (air and sea show) are both in ft Lauderdale, broward county, fl. FYI, Ft Lauderdale is less than 30 miles from downtown miami. Broward and miami counties even share the same 786 area code. He talks about there being an NHL team but they have been in sunrise florida and train in coral springs fl for like 20 years, both cities are an hour away from the places in miami that this video focuses on. Also the largest mall in the southeast usa is in sunrise. Furthermore, you wont find many native black people on miami beach because of the history of racism against blacks in miami beach, they usually go to Hollywood beach in broward county. Miami beach is literally a man made beach, sand on top of concrete...imported sand from the Bahamas to make it a fake white sandy beach. Honestly I think ft Lauderdale is a better beach, just judging based on purely the physical attributes of the beaches. This video also says there aren't any piers in Miami, broward and palm beach counties are filled with piers, smh
