Beautiful City, But I could never live in a housing community that has housing practically stacked up on one another! Holly Molly! You can almost research out and touch your neighbor's house! Land on the outskirts with trees, space, and a bit of privacy I can do.

Older neighborhoods are often on 1/2-acre lots with plenty of space and privacy. Most newer housing developments, in an attempt to keep costs down and to comply with building ordinances, are on much smaller parcels of land. Maryville is also in Blount County, which offers many homes on large lots just on the outskirts of the city. I agree with you! Having a little distance from neighbors is preferable.

Here is how you will never forget how to pronounce Blount county. "My friend and I are legally going to smoke a blunt in Blount county". lol Pronounced the same way as you would say, "smoke a blunt". This comes from how the first governor of TN pronounced his last name, Gov. William Blount. Or if your a 90's child, "Blunt man and Chronic" comic books lol.

I get this comment quite frequently, and honestly, I struggle with how best to respond. I genuinely don't want to minimize your comments or disrespect your concerns. The truth is that the East Tennessee area is growing rapidly and will continue to do so far into the foreseeable future for a myriad of reasons. Like millions of my fellow citizens, we left California and moved to Tennessee several years ago. We came with the desire to fully embrace all of what made this area so special and NOT TO "California-ize" Tennessee. Most, albeit not all, inbound residents feel the same. I fully admit that East Tennessee's rapid growth has come at a price. Home values have soared more than the National average, and our infrastructure has struggled to keep up, but having relocated from an area that is experiencing a decline in its residents and subsequent workforce and tax base, I can promise you that problems that come with that reality are significantly worse. @@RelocatingtoEastTN We've seen growth before but we also understand that who is in the Oval Office makes a huge difference. When Trump was in, we were still growing and just starting to pick up the pace. When America is earning, in all classes, you can turn new housing to your advantage at cost. I'm in a my 5 decade of life and spent most of it here, apart from a time in Colorado and WA state, up state NY. As a guy that leans more right, I've seen how well rapid growth can go if you have the right people in office. Growing up as a teen in the 80's, Maryville/ Aloca had no liquor license. When that hurdle was finally crossed, businesses boomed. Restaurants moved in, and this was only little over two decades ago. Than more businesses for jobs and more growth. Even the airport really benefited from it. So many over-react to people moving in but most of us rather you come here, experience it, become Tennesseans because you get to see what large, "community" in faith, and trust is all about, along with some tradition. IN the wake of these floods in east TN and W. N.C. we are all being the Volunteers history has seen us as. My ancestors came here under the last name of White and built a fort and started a city along the banks of the TN river. Just as your grandfather came from this area where the foothills meet these ancient Appalachian mountains that extended into modern day Ireland and Scotland before the big rift. Tradition. Love your videos and am enjoying them. My father was stationed in Vandenburg AFG and lived in Lompoc, CA back in the 60's. CA has it's beauty too and one day, it will get right again.
