As a native from Mesa.. these are the top 3 pros and cons. Pros: 1. Killer money to be made. Tons of jobs and there's no red tape to the hustle. Mesa wants businesses to thrive. Mormon community is solid and they want everyone vested who lives here. 2. Salt River. Tubing, Kayaking, Biking, swimming, BBQ, Fishing..ect. This is a Mesa must in Summer. We live in the water here. The river is becoming overcrowded, but the 6am summer kayaking trips are legendary. 3. Proximity to everything. Watersports, shooting, biking, hiking, Snow in Winter, Sedona, Top of the World, Natural Bridge, Lakes.. not to mention all the food and entertainment. ++ San Diego, Rocky Point, Vegas, Utah are super close to road trip. IMO, spring training is great, but its only like a month long. Mesa loves the payday it brings to the city, but is celebrated by locals as the beginning of the end of snowbird season. Cons: 1. Lightrail in Downtown. Basically lightrail brought the crime in Downtown. I do see it diminishing when ASU starts up because campus police will be everywhere. Kudos to Council for thinking about that aspect. 2. Air quality. Its trash. Moreso toward Phx, but its getting gnarly. Its hot, the landscapers newer stop blowing and if the wind blows, there isn't rain to clear it up. Asthmatics beware. Better have AC Filter budget. 3. Population growth. Its condensing and the sprawl never ends here. Pick a direction. Straight-line monotony. Every 5 miles its the same plaza with the typical 4 or 5 franchise goons. Pro runner up: Bikini Season Con runner up: No rollercoasters Zoner till I die.

Lived in Mesa from 88-97 when it was new. East Mesa by Val vista and southern. Power road was the end of the freeway.Superstition mall was new. Went to visit 3 years ago. It’s so run down now.

Hi Mike, I had to chuckle when you said East Mesa at Val Vista. I know when I move here it was the east end too. Now Val Vista is central Mesa. It has changed so much. There are small areas by the mall that are run down as they go through transitions. But other areas have gone through the transition and look great.

You obviously have never lived in Mesa. Downtown Mesa is not only beautiful, but it is also very easy to navigate and bike/pedestrian friendly with numerous parking spots.

I moved out of Mesa in 2021. If you're thinking about moving there, be prepared for 1. Smog and dust in the air 2. Everything being spread out (lots of driving) 3. Terrible roads

Mesa police are out of control. Just check out the KZbin videos on them. Even though I am totally law abiding, I would be very afraid to even drive through Mesa, mush less live there.

I really believe that the videos are skewed to scare everyone. I have never had any problems. I have not heard of anyone else having problems. I really think you can feel comfortable coming in the area.

@@EastValleyArizonaRealEstate I have some family in Mesa. Went for a visit in June of 2021 and was astounded by the development east of Mesa and up to the Apache junction superstition area. Seems like the root of the water problem is a diminishing snowpack in the Rockies. Not sure how the state can fix that but we'll be rooting for y'all! Meanwhile come see us in Michigan if you want to see water, but don't plan on any pipelines !
