There’s lots of documentaries like this on the internet (about Mexico and the cartels). So it’s no secret what things are like there (from a government perspective). If you’re going to ‘disappear’, it’s going to happen whilst you’re actually in Mexico making the documentary. And then it’s usually because by kidnapping you, people can demand a ransom. This documentary was made a while ago so safe to say that nothing bad happened.

American government is just as corrupt, they are just better at hiding the fact. As an American it is embarrassing how our government exacerbates this problem by giving these cartels free reign of our border, allowing them to profit from our ineptitude. I believe it all stems from corruption of the American political system, these cartels are not stupid, they know American politicians can be bought just like Mexico's politicians, the price just might be higher. Only when all of us good people come together and decide we have had enough will it change. I had hope AMLO would be different but he is just more of the same.

That’s super odd to say, I’ve always felt that Brazil is levels above when it comes to actual violence. Mexico is violent but Brazil is extreme, you say it’s concentrated but there’s a lot out there about how if you live there long enough your bound to get robbed at gunpoint or knife
@Samuel-fo4gv7 ай бұрын
@@jumpy2xstreaming The majority of the Brazilian population lives in urban areas, and this type of violence is an urban phenomenon. This is why you see countless people reporting crimes of this type online, but this does not reflect the country as a whole. The homicide rate in the north of the country is much higher than in the south, and the same happens in Mexico (both are huge countries), but in Brazil the north is poor and the south is more developed, whereas in Mexico it is the opposite, That's why the overall quality of life in Brazil is better. Violence in Brazil is based on small crimes and in urban areas, that is, you won't die, but it could be that some kid passes by you and pulls your backpack in large centers. In Mexico, it's terrorism, kidnapping, a market financed by the USA that won't change either, unlike Brazil, which has been reducing crime year after year. In 2017 the homicide rate was 29.2 in Brazil and in 2023 18.7. In Mexico, in 2017 it was 22.5 and in 2023 it was 23.5 (remembering that this number could even be higher due to the lack of transparency of the numbers on the part of the Mexican government, as kidnappings and underreporting are not taken into account).
@jumpy2xstreaming7 ай бұрын
@@Samuel-fo4gv I would have to very much disagree with you, Brazil is not a “better” place to live than Mexico, Brazil is a crime culture country just like Colombia. The people there will never be able to stop robbing and killing no matter what they do, it’s in your culture. But for Mexico there’s parts that are safe, Brazil you guys don’t have anything that’s truly safe just safer than favelas

Everyone likes to get high, but not everyone wants to do heroin, cocaine and lose their lives and families from it and alcohol tastes bad and causes too many people to do stupid things, we had to make something legal and alcohol was there, everyone likes to get high and its a stressful society, its not like we can just grow and raise our own food so easily and that costs money too plus the time you have to wait until you can harvest, everything needs money and a 9-5 is stressful. The most ironic thing is that our current incompetent and idiotic president has actually put a stop to the Drug War here in Mexico; so what are the results of that?, this sort of situations, there has been an increment on violence and homicides since he ordered such halt to the war and since he gave orders to the military and police that Cartel members mustn't be chased extensivily as in previous regimes. Also, ironically in the regime that started the Drug War in this country, there were less homicides and way less violence; not saying that starting the Drug War here in Mexico was a good idea, but the fact that now the military and police don't have the enjailment or execution of those bastards as their top priority has just made everything worse.

Michoacán is a beautiful state and it saddens me that it’s only getting worse with violence. My husband is from there and I’ve gone with him to visit his dad, but sadly I don’t see myself going again. My father in law was kidnapped and held ransom 2 weeks ago. Luckily he’s alive but he no longer feels safe in his own country. 😞

@@ThePeacePlant The US gov knows exactly what's going on. They know that the black market created by the prohibition of drugs causes way more damage than the drugs being prohibited (which get through anyway.) They know this violence in Mexico and the violence in the streets of the US is a direct result of their so called war on drugs. They also know that they (gov] have gotten and will continue to receive so much power from thus prohibition in the form of our rights taken away, cash seized, property seized, tax money, and $ from the for profit prison industry in the states. They might seem stupid, but they aren't. They are just very, very greedy and very corrupt.
