Your note about going abroad with a separate purpose than just being abroad is supper big. I agree so much.

Right? It's something I struggled with because I did not have a purpose other than my journey abroad when I first moved to Morocco. Then I realized I needed more and once I started to do things that interested me and gave me fulfillment, I was so much happier!

Language was something I struggled with also because when locals spoke English they would always tell me to speak english. In return, I would tell them that I wanted to speak Darija and they could speak to me in English. Balance lol! There is so much truth in your statement about going abroad with a purpose. When decided to apply for Peace Corps it covered all of my basic needs and as a newbie moving to a new country Peace Corps guidance and security helped me to take the leap abroad. I am so grateful for you sharing your story online because that is how I found you lol!!!

I love this comment so much, Shanay! Balance with language is key at the end of the day. As long as I am able to communicate what I need, I am good to go! Yes, I will be honest, I did not have much of a purpose when I first moved abroad (even though I had a job). I really had to mentally shift my energy and realize I was in Morocco for so much more than I originally thought. Then I really started to enjoy my life there, but it took time. I am so happy we got to meet! I feel blessed to have you in my circle now. I look forward to working with you more in the future and also following along on your journey as you continue to do amazing things.

The funniest thing: I have been interested in moving abroad for years. My mom, with whom I am close, is always on the receiving end of my travel aspiration discourse. She has said that if I left North America, she would want to come along; this morning, I found an article on Travel Noire about Shanay Braxton's experiences in Morocco; upon reading it to my mom, instantaneously, she expressed that it was where she wanted to be. I concurred. Something between the two of us and Morocco clicked. Just now, I came across this video and your channel for the first time, and Shanay is mentioned. Of course, we intend to plan and not rush something such as this, but I do not believe in coincidences. This is divine alignment. Jazzy, thank you for sharing your experience and recommendations. We'll take all of it and more into extreme consideration.

Great. I totally agree with everything you say about the Moroccan lifestyle. How was your experience in Morocco, during Covid lockdown? . Btw, most Moroccans don't like to talk French so much. So, out of respect speak your language or Arabic. If an American spoke French to a Moroccan, it's like saying you were colonized by France and so this is your language.

Why are Americans moving to Morocco, more specifically African Americans? We don’t even have any black people lol

I do not know why other African Americans are moving to Morocco. We moved for a two-year work opportunity and then to India. Plus, Morocco has black people. Thanks for watching.

@@hamudiel1110 black Moroccans aren’t native to North Africa and they’re not the majority. I have no issue with blacks. My argument is that black Americans were obviously left culture-less due to the atrocities of slavery so in the last 30 years or so there has been a boom in black Americans relocating to Africa, and I totally get why. A lot of them want to get in touch with their lost culture and heritage but what puzzles me the most is if that’s the case then why are most of them moving to North Africa of all places😂 subsahara Africa would be more be accurate and of course none of them ever assimilate and learn our languages (North Africa) all ways to around wanting people to speak to them in English and of course they also bring their ways which in Islamic community just doesn’t work out. Just last week a cousin of my buddy was approach by some American expat and she’s married. Dude was being too pushy and didn’t understand no means no so he gathered us up and we beat him senseless because you don’t get time come to my country and infringe upon my culture and values, and religion. That’s not how dating works in Islam and of course how would he know, but that’s the issue. They don’t want to know or care to assimilate...

@@Crime_pays Thats the thing that baffles me. They never claim subsaharan countries where they are from. But go to north african nations and then start complaining that they're " arab invaders". The very fact that north africans look nothing like them should be a clue that african americans did not originate from nort africa. Delusion is a heck of a thing.
