You are a citizen of the world, you're not locked to one place that's so cool. Living in one place makes me depressed, seeing the same people makes me feel depressed and smothered.

I'm a California girl who travelled around the east coast of Canada for two years and I loved it! I would leave every 6 months to go home and see my family and then come back. Montreal & Quebec City were some of favorite places to visit although I found the people in those places to not be very fond of a foreigner from the USA. My homebase was Ottawa and that place is lovely as well. When I would go up to Montreal instead of staying at hotels, McGill University would rent out vacant dorm rooms and that is where I would always stay. From what I recall it was pretty cheap to stay there and at that time you got access to the common areas, restrooms, etc! Not sure of they still do it but maybe check it out for next time if you're back in the area!

My son and his partner are just about to move to Montreal for a year. Going from Vancouver, it is much cheaper. As a non-French speaking Canadian, there is so much more to see in other parts of Canada. I live in BC and love it. But, we do enjoy spending time in the US in the winter months. Cross the border a few more times and you will lose you nervousness.

I was nervous going to New Brunswick Canada lol. First time out of the US. I went to Campobello Island. I had to stop and figure out how to change my car from mph to kph. Would like to visit again.

@@maggie0285 That’s great! Yes, we switch our truck over to miles in the US. Did you know there is a portion of highway in Arizona south of Tucson that is in km? Something to do with when the US thought about changing to metric, but didn’t.

Ava, Sounds like an easy quick trip. Being that it is today mid January 2023 you should consider spending Dec-Feb out here in central to south Arizona. Much warmer and no snow storms. You be safe and get a place during your frozen Winters. Don't push it to danger levels.

Canada is a wonderful place for a road trip. The eastern townships to the east of Saint-Jean-SR have a plenty of charming small towns and a wine route. When gas was cheaper I traveled coast to coast and slept in my car. Border customs used to be a hassle, but not a problem if you have patience

Hey! You were only 30 minutes from Granby my home town. I would have liked to meet you in person. I was in Gatineau-Ottawa having a great time on thé bike paths. I also have my SUV set up to sleep in and that really makes travelling cheaper. Did you know you were in Saint-Jean-sur Richelieu right about the time of the international hot air ballon festival.

Ava. Very cool trip. I had been planning the same thing: driving from Montreal to Quebec, but the flights were to much from NY. By the way, you do understand that Quebec is frigid and inundated with tons of snow beginning from November to April, right? The weather would be prohibitive to the car life.

I live in Montreal and it's very difficult to find parking downtown...but actually, for wifi, in some parts of downtown there is the Montreal wifi for use on the street :) I think it takes several visits to get accommodated to things...What would you do during the winter months if you stayed here? Maybe an indoor parking lot?
