Hey Jake, do you think you will come back to California? I recently moved to San Diego from Arizona and love it here... The gas prices are killing me though. The cheapest I've found recently is $5.30 a gallon. I do deliveries for Door Dash and Uber Eats as well.

My family used to live in Georgetown, just north of Austin. Back in the 90s that city was medium sized, now it's just too much. Traffic is horrendous, like you said before, it wasn't designed for a million people, lol. Keep doing your daily grind bro, you're doing great 👍✌

Welcome back to Austin! Love that run around Town Lake. The best part is to do it in the morning in the summer and get into Barton Springs pool for a free swim before 8AM.

I'm from Austin. Left in January 2020 because it got too crowded for me. I love the downtown library. Free parking, bathrooms, and wifi. Also, it's incredibly beautiful with a lounge area on the roof. My favorite (reasonably priced) salad spot was the salad bar at Central Market. They also have wifi, a cafe area to work/eat in and restrooms. In the evenings they have free live music there, too. My favorite park is the Botanical Garden at Zilker. If you haven't tried Stand Up Paddle boarding, it's really fun and there are at least three places to rent them on Lady Bird Lake. There are poetry slams, free comedy shows, and free days at the museums around town, too. When I lived there I did something new every week. I miss all of it so much but not the traffic. I hope you enjoy your time in Austin. I went to meetings in West Austin if you are looking for a not sketchy meeting, they have some there. I lived near Zilker Park near the Austin sign your in front of. Please eat at Torchy's on South First and look for the picture on the wall where Obama visited. It's adorable because he's really tall and the photo is him and the staff. They are all short so it just made the cutest picture. The Monk taco on the menu is named after a homeless man who lived in the neighborhood for decades. He told me once he wouldn't live in any other zip code. He did some work when Torchy's was being built and made himself that taco. The owner put it on the menu and named it after him. Monk lived in my backyard for a couple of y years after he got old, other homeless were robbing him. He was safer in our yard. My kids called him Mr. Monk. Good times!

Loved your comment!..You should write a book! I mean it! Can you say which general area you moved to? (I promise I won't follow....hehe!) I'm just curious where a Native Austinian(?) who evidently loved her City would go to? I've always loved the Cities and being "in the middle of it all" but nowadays I'm finding I like it less and less. Everywhere is too crowded and I find people are getting too loud and rude lol 😝!

I moved to Reno, NV and it's a shit hole. Brookings, Oregon is where I'm planning my forever home. Redwoods, ocean and cool year round. I miss Austin so much and think of it as a place that will always be a big part of who I am.

@@melissahood2960 Thank you for replying and yes, I had heard some stuff about Reno. Hope you make it to OR soon. I too was considering The PNW until I heard about "The Big One" but I think if IT was going to happen in our lifetime, it would've happened already. So I think we should be Good 👍 🙏🙏!

I really enjoy your videos a lot, I can't say I personally know your struggle with addiction but I can relate a little because I lost a nephew right before the pandemic started to drugs. Him and I were very close so much that he lived with the wife and I for about a year and I went with him to every meeting to better understand his struggle and to show support. He told me he had never gotten that before. I got him a good job and he was doing so well until he decided to go fix some legal issues he has in his home town and sadly never returned. We lost him about a year after that to an overdose. If I learned any thing is that its a life long battle and you have to stay in contact with those that support you. Keep up the great work and sorry for such a long comment.

Yo Jake, park on the street. As long as you haven’t crossed the water to be on the same side as the capital it is free practically everywhere on SoCo. Local tip is park on the side streets that jutt off of SoCo fairly easy to find parking and always free; my personal favorite spot is the side street that runs between Home Slice and the church on SoCo. Also never Via313, home slice all the way. Try the gelato place in the alley by hopdoddy on SoCo you won’t regret it. Hope I get to see you around downtown bud; if I do food is on me🤘🏾

Downtown library is probably the best in the state. With several restrooms 🚽 just walk in. Free nice desktop computers. Near there is a YMCA where you can park for free and an Amtrak right behind where you can sleep overnight I’ve done it a few times. Next to the Y is a few baseball and soccer fields with porter johns. Everything you “need” relatively close. Good luck man. Everything downtown will be overpriced. I recommend trying northwest. No traffic and everything you need. Walnut Creek Park is probably the best in city park. Let me know if your up for some 6th street nightlife while your here.

IIn reference to the issue with how expensive everything is getting...'m in Phoenix...we are the #1 place for inflation and now we (the USA) are in stagflation, where inflation keeps going up but not to little growth happening in the country...you can thank your politicians and oligarchs for this. Hope I can start car life or at least travel some and try to stay on the road as much as possible, but I'm very hesitant given the state of the inflation and also gig work is getting way worse...DD has been getting SOOOOOOO slow and they keep lowering the base pay!

I used to spend lots of money on food, but no more. I realized that I was just flushing all of my money down the toilet.. seriously. I now get almost all of my food from food pantries, which are awesome here in California. I eat better than ever and actually need to go on a diet after eating way too much free food. I'm saving for my future, which if you're interesting in knowing more about, you can check out my channel. Stay safe and hope you can figure out ways to save more money.
