IDEA for safety, I saw a trucker who wraps his seat belt through the door handle, then into the buckle. So if anyone tries to open the door, the seatbelt will not allow the door to open.

That sounds like a good idea, but I think the seatbelt would have more of the belt released when pulled on. Just like when you pull the seatbelt out when putting it on. So it seems like you could open the door when the seatbelt gets pulled on.

I totally agree on the tinting. It is needed for privacy and security. I noticed when you were at KOA site that you walked outside several times. As a suggestion when you have time get video surveillance system that allows you too see outside and around your van before you exit. Also, with your gas on/off outside and the red light visible someone might figure out you inside because the propane is running. I did see a video on KZbin a couple years back where van dweller set up system that alerted him whenever anyone was so many feet fro his vehicle. Glad you looking security because things are changing and you need to feel safe and protected in your van. ❤❤❤

You need to look into a small portable duraflame electric heater. They come with a thermostat and remote. They heat very well and you can touch it and the unit does not get hot. I used them when I had small children so not to get burned. Also, you can use a small tension rod to hang your curtains, put a small foam piece like a makeup pad the end to protect your van.

Go to Walmart and get a roll of floor covering plastic. It’s a roll of clear vinyl that you put in high traffic areas to keep floor coverings clean from high traffic. Realtors use it a lot for open houses. Just unroll then roll up when done and stow. Also, buy a good black out curtain and a shower spring rod to close off the cab if you can’t use magnet hooks for the curtain.

Here's one of the recipes that she really enjoyed. I'll post more later that I think you will like. Cauliflower Mac. Bag of Cauliflower, onion chopped, cream cheese, cheddar or any cheese you like, ground mustard or mustard, garlic powder, chicken broth or water season to taste. Should taste like Mac and cheese and it's low carb. Cook Cauliflower, onions in broth till tender. Put in season and some cheese. Put in microwave pan and microwave till rest of cheese on top melts. Enjoy 😉

IDEA for curtain to separate front seats from back - try a thin (but long) tension rod and use a thick curtain that is light weight, like felt, that will keep out the cold, but not too heavy for the rod.
@GiannasEscapades2 жыл бұрын
If you are concerned about the cold you can always get a small chargeable power station like a jackery or something similar and always plug an small electric space heater or an electric blanket into that at night if you do not have enough solar to use power at night and then can always charge the power station during day when driving around. But also it's good to make sure that furnace is running at times and you are keeping your tanks warm so nothing freezes as well.. Good Luck :)

I saw on a video be careful about moisture from Portal heaters.Your vehicle needs ventilation so air can get in.If not mold can build up in your vehicle. I don't know how true this but saw it on a tiny house video.
@colleenv20912 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. Sadly, van manufacturers design for two seasons max. Michigan will be cold and damp, bad combo for a van. The problems start when the outside temps drop and the humidity from living, heating and cooking inside occurs. Alarm bells will go off when waking up to find wet windows and damp walls. Electric heat and venting. ❤
@GiannasEscapades2 жыл бұрын
@@colleenv2091 My problem is the humidity with living in florida when I take my RV out its always so ho so have to have the a/c blasting and then wake up in the morning to the windows all wet but moisture in rvs will always be problems thank god ever time I check mine since I do not live in it always seems nice and dry. To block of the cab area, you could get a thick quilt and an extension pole and hang the extension pole up over the storage area above the cab with a pocket sewn into the quilt to hang it. You could easily get someone to do that for you and it would help with the warmth of the sleeping area. As a bonus, it would also help block light from getting out of the front windows. You could also get a indoor safe propane heater (they are about $100 on Amazon) to use while it's cold, and you don't have electric hook ups. I think you just have to have a vent for excess moisture to escape.

Nomadic, there is “blackout” fabric you can buy (it’s white) to cover that spot aroun your rear view mirror. You can adhere it with your peel and stick Velcro tape. Staple it to the fabric so you don’t have to sew it. You can find the fabric at a fabric store, just call around so you don’t go on a wild goose chase trying to find it. Cut it an inch larger all the way around over what you measure so if the area is say 6 x 6 inches cut it at 7 x 7. The tint came out so nice great job. Can’t wait to see the custom window colors. Maybe the same guy can make you a blackout curtain too. He could match everything up for you. ❤
