I have to say by far that Naples is one of the most magical places I've visited. I'm considering moving to Florida, and I have to say most of the cities and places I've visited in Florida (aside from Key West) I have found to be boring, uninteresting and very overrated. But I have to say that Naples is unbelievably Rich, in every sense of the word. Not just richness due to wealth but everything you see around you from the Palm Trees, the layout, the grass, everything is so rich and vibrant. It is probably too high class for me even, there is a very pretentious air in the people there, but it would be in my Top 2 Choices of places to live if I had to pick between there and Key West. Nothing else I've seen in Florida compares!

After to moving to Naples, Rule #1: Do not make valuations on videos or comments of STORYTELLERS, come and stay and experience what it IS to YOU. Sure, many can't take and acclimate to the tropics year round. I get it. For some though, it's pure breathtaking magic. 😁

That's a messed up priority. Now the animals will get their a/c because the voters voted for a 1% increase for things like this. I cannot stand our BCC at all!! Probably one of the worst things about Naples.

I find Naples to be a very nice place to live. The population is actually quite diverse and you can live in many different environments down here. If you want woods and privacy you can live in Golden Gate Estates, if you want posh apartment living you can head downtown, if you are into golfing and country club living, there is tons of that as well. Naples itself has lots of amenities like parks and activities, a zoo, ballet, acting troupe, flourishing arts scene, restaurants from any ethnic category you can imagine. It has fancy stuff and normal stuff like Marshalls and Chipotle. As for the people, I have found most of them to be very nice. Most people I meet are transplants who are very happy and grateful to be living in Naples. The all over vibe is pretty laid back and the local economy seems pretty strong. Employees of stores and restaurants are always nice and helpful. The cost of living is not low but I didn't move here for cost of living, I moved for quality of life which is vastly better than it was in an upscale part of NJ. Naples is not for everyone but for many people it will be as close to paradise as they can get.

Expanding on some thing: 1. Traffic: Not only is it more cars but the quality of drivers as they are increasingly older is pretty bad. Expect lot's of minor fender benders and your car WILL get dinged up at parking lots. 2. Construction: actually the lack of it. Many million+ homes are being built each day but if that isn't in your budget you will have to settle for a townhome and the issues that come with it, You can also choose to live in the middle of nowhere (estates). 3. Entertainment: With a median age of 100, Naples doesn't exactly cater to younger folks or even families very well. Restaurants and other forms of entertainment are few and far in between, they all close very early and the lack of variety is astonishing. I hope you like Italian food, Mexican and Pizza. 4. Crime: Don't be fooled, although crime isn't reported it still happens and often. Hopefully you are not so gullible to believe the suppression of negative press by the local government. Long story short, Naples doesn't really want you to live here. This is not a pro-growth city, it markets itself as a luxury retirement community. If you are not in that phase of your life yet, you will be pushed out of the city limits for housing, work and entertainment. Yes it's beautiful, it can be peaceful at times when compared to larger cities of the East Coast but it's only paradise if you meet certain requirements.

Well each one of us can have their opinion that's why we live in a free country. But Naples to me is paradise. Beautiful place, clean, kind people in general. To me is a great place to raise a family, I raised my daughters here and now my grandchildren, and we love it. We are not rich we are middle class hard working people, and we find always something to do. I have live in different part of the US, and is always beautuful to be back. It always depend on the individual and the life style that they enjoy. God Bless the people of Naples.🌴🏝🌞

Moving here in last 3 years, this is a pretty fair assessment. I was actually surprised in that for me, there are more critters than Midwest, but less bugs. I would add it's pretty rare to find locals, most everyone from somewhere else. In some ways, kind of a lonely place. Beautiful beaches and sunsets, excellent dining for size of area, but really Really REALLY uncomfortable in summer. Had to laugh, local tv station celebrated surviving Florida winter ( they had three days with lows in 40's ).

@James Myszka, great observations about that and Florida in general. I have to say I'm reconsidering ideas of possibly moving to Florida, but one thing that holds me back is that people really do seem like they are more or less "every Man is his own island" in Florida. Number one, almost everyone being from elsewhere, and having different ideas / attitudes, therefore not really integrating well with others and they tend to keep to themselves. A lot of people there tend to be very flaky. Sometimes I wonder if who we are born as entirely results in a different experience living there, but the ONLY place I've visited in Florida so far where I found exceptional treatment and felt more at home with others was in Key West. The rest of Florida, like South Florida, I found many people who seemed very depressed and apathetic a lot of the time and not interested to interact with anyone. In Naples, I definitely got the impression that I am nowhere near on the same wealth class as them whatsoever. If I could have the combination of attributes in Key West combined with Naples (but with the expensive attributes removed from both places), I'd probably have the perfect place to live.

Naples is Safer -lowest crime out of those cities you mentioned but more expensive for sure and limited housing options in different price points. Can be congested with traffic during the busy season - crowded etc but so can Sarasota etc. Food is expensive but excellent. It’s definitely made for the rich but it’s clean/ no homeless anywhere or very very few and far between. Naples is nothing else like any place I’ve been/ we are moving our self 2023. It’s absolutely gorgeous!

Being that this video is six months old, PLEASE do your research before you come here! A lot has changed in regards to real-estate, among other things. As for Collier County infrastructure, The county is estimated to be more than a decade behind growth. It is an understatement to say there is road congestion. A note on tourist season. We are becoming Orlando, meaning we no longer have just one tourist season anymore. If your young or middle age, there is very little to no night life here (I don't call 5th Ave. night life). Lastly, you haven't lived until a huge roach (Palmetto Bug) FLIES in your face! LOL. Having said all this, we do love it here!

Now my wife and I think that we’d like something like that- having a clubhouse and able to meet people more easily than just purchasing a house. But I am not finding these type of communities (with a home - not an apt) in the Greater Naples area, perhaps I’m missing this - do those 100 to 400 home retirement type 55+ places exist in the greater Naples area? If you’re poor, there are no pros. Right now, you won’t find a place to live unless u can pay 3k a month and have a credit score of 680+. I’ve been denied everywhere even with a large bank acct bc of the snooty ass old people that only want more of their kind. Failing to realize the “poor” (actually middle class) people need to live in Naples to work there. I own a business and all 15 of my employees live 45min away. It’s sickening with Covid bc the rich took that time to consolidate power and give nothing to the poor.

I loved visiting Naples.The biggest Con for me was the distance from an airport. Also, all traffic seems to go over that one bridge. Florida in general: beach access is limited to the public, which is not the case in other states. You either must own a $$$ unaffordable beach house to get Naples' beach access or find a small public parking lot wedge between condo buildings with few spaces in. Here in CA, no one owns the beach. You can pull over on the side of PCH and pick any spot you want. Not so in Florida and public beach parking is nuts, especially in the winter months. Forget going onto the keys, which usually have one tiny road in and out with traffic bumper to bumper.
@toddlempe1454
@toddlempe1454 2 жыл бұрын
unique perspective. RSW airport is 25 min. super easy. There is no bridge unless your talking about Marco island. Beaches super easy to access WITHOUT huge resort development. The beach is dirty. Lots of sea shells. The worst part is the people who lives on those high rises are very rude, mean and unfriendly. Don’t come down here. You will waste your time and money. I guess living in those high rises make them feel like royalty looking down on their vassals. I feel sorry for them. Get to know a stranger and learn something about them before you judge them. I have visited more than 25 countries and even though most of them have less than us, they are the happiest people and a lot nicer than most of us. We should learned from the people of Australia and New Zealand. They are very nice people - Not entitled. BE NICE AND BE KIND and WE’LL HAVE A BETTER COUNTRY AND A BETTER WORLD!!! EXPRESS LOVE NOT HATE!!!

Wow. I would suggest another area. I have never felt any issues. Maybe you were dealing with some racism. I am sorry you experienced that. (If that's what it was) Take care.

I’ve had the privilege of being able to spend 13 years down in port royal, where many of those “naples big shots” live, many of whom i know on a personal level. Everyone that I’ve met that has those fancy beach houses are typically average hardworking and extremely grateful people. Sounds like you got really unlucky

@David Sometimes people seem nice, but a lot of people also flake out in Florida really easily it seems. One day they are your friend and the next day you never hear from them again. Not sure if this is chance or what, but this is something I've noticed for years in my travels, even with clients and other people I regularly have interacted with from there. Though I am still considering a move there.

@@kippy1313 I Agree with you. Having lived in Pasadena and having spent a lot of time in LA / Hollywood, everyone I knew out there was a flake and very unreliable. In SoCal, everyone is too into themselves to have time for anyone, and that's why I ended up leaving. The upper class vibes I got from people in Naples FL, I would say is comparable to the vibe in West Hollywood / Beverly Hills area when comparing to LA. But even with that, the level of class distinction and judgment of your status is like to a whole other degree of it in Naples. That being said, I have nothing against people who are very well-off, but I definitely felt out of place in Naples because I'm Middle Class and not much of a conformist whatsoever. If I had a reason to be there though, I would. Key West though is my favorite place in Florida.

Umm here’s a con that’s OBVIOUS. OLD people who shouldn’t be driving are driving not only with a very limited skill set but also aimlessly and dangerously. It’s very scary. There is no reason there shouldn’t be a second lifetime driving test after 60 or 65 to make sure people are cognitively aware enough to ride around in death vehicles.

Lived here for 6 years. Can’t wait to leave this place. HOA’s are ruining living here with their stupid rules, summer is no joke with the humidity - cannot enjoy the outside, work is seasonal, cost of living is going up, mainly full of rude wealthy retirees and a fair bit of racism. If you like to go out and have fun......not much to do. It’s super quiet and boring. It’s a great place to live if you want to retire with a low crime rate.

I understand your comment about HOA's...there are a LOT of them. They're not all bad, but it's tough to know what you're getting into prior to moving into a neighborhood. There are options outside of HOA's as well.

@@BradDohackGPP while I agree. I got my lease renewal denied after 6 years of living there because the HOA changed the rules to limit the amount of renters living there.

Racism? Really! I have been here for over 30 years and never seen racism being a issue. Only issue we all see is illegals that can’t speak English and makes it hard to communicate some times.
