It's been awesome to see you grow into a more independent person especially outside of the cocoon of Idaho. Going to NYC by yourself and navigating flights and such is such a big deal and you should be really proud you can do that at 18. So many people NEVER get comfortable doing things independently, much less traveling independently.

as a girl that likes to get away and be alone in a NYC (a 5 hour drive to NYC for me), i learned there are lockers you can rent out to put your luggage so you can continue to enjoy the city until you depart

I am from a small town in the south and spent 4 years in nyc while in grad school...I felt the same way you did, I was just in love with it. Concrete Jungle does NOT describe NY in my opinion because just like you said there are parks/green space all over! And people actually use them. I miss it ❤

@@bananapuffs1yeah nyc with a car is not fun. But having a car also is not necessary, subway/buses/cabs/ubers/biking/walking will get you pretty much anywhere.

Brooklyn especially is a beautiful place to be. A friend from high school went to college in Brooklyn for dance and then she worked with kids with limb differences and medical difficulties in ballet.

Avia! I went to Tisch School of the Arts for Screenwriting and you remind me of the camps/orientation pre-college. Spoiler I lived in nyc for 15 years:)(the last year has been kind of different expecting a baby and all) but you make me relive all the emotions and it’s powerful to see that some coming of age aspects are timeless. The first roommates in a big city, feeling like a real New Yorker, really leaning into that independence but fully enjoying being still a teen and the peace that can come with that, the support of your young family , finding your own rhythm It’s cheesy and sometimes unpractical to tell someone to chase their dreams , it worked out for me but nyc gave me so much more than that , more life condensed than 30 lifetimes together :)
