I just moved to Somerville 2 months ago and I really like it so much so far, however I agree 100% that I am also extremely surprised there are no independent bookstores either!! That’s one of my favorite parts about cities so that is disappointing but I have found more positives than negatives so far…

Thanks man! My girlfriends family owns a 3 family house right outside of Davis square so we are thinking of moving there when I’m done with school in Maine! My job will certainly pay more being there and since we wouldn’t have to pay for the property it’s a no brainer

Somerville is a great place to raise children in schools shops it's wonderful around here it's changed over the years it's become very very expensive as well I love Somerville I went to the Healey School in Somerville High and now my children went to the Haley School in Somerville High

Pretty good cons, the tax rate is laughable especially if you're coming from a suburb north, south or west of the city. $10 per 1000 is very reasonable, lack of an indy bookstore is more an indictment on the way we conduct business in this modern world, but I'm sure one will pop up, street parking what can you do? it's the city! Its a walkable place with very good public transportation. Construction at this scale is progress and some modernization and will directly lead to helping out the McGrath Highway situation and won't be forever.

Wow, the Prospect Hill Tower is amazing! It practically looks identical to a historical tower in Vilnius, Lithuania (Gedimino bokstas), where I come from. I'm shocked! So hyped and thrilled about visiting Boston soon! I bet I'll fall in love with it in a heartbeat :D

Nice view of Boston from Prospect Hill. See my video on the channel that is a Tour of Somerville for a drone view of Prospect Hill Tower.

For 3 years years In going to school, I would go from UNION SQUARE up the hill and down the other side to Mc Grath highway and on to CROSS ST. and Somerville Vocational High School near Broadway.........I usually ran home at 2: 30 in order to get to work at 3:00.....

I looked up that Tower in VILNIUS, LITHUANIA and it really doesn't look like Prospect Hill tower..... It's 3 octagons, one inside the other with windows and it looks like all red brick....It's a tower but very plain, unlike the one in Somerville...Have a good day wherever you are.

Is this a good place for active middle aged people? We are young retirees looking for a walkable community

@@mercedesstenberg9286 Somerville is a walkable. I suggest walking around to see how it feels to you as a place to call home.
