I have to say that when someone moves to this area and is here for a few weeks to a month, they all say the same thing. Why did I wait so long to move here. What is really fun is having someone come visit you from up north for a week and then only have to go and you get to stay. I live in Parrish which is only about 20 minutes to St. Petersburg. I love it down here. They call this area "resort living". What also is great is you see all these 80 something years old couples and they look so energetic, happy, and healthy. Psychologically it takes you away from that under current feeling of dread about getting old. Just do it and make the move. Come down for a week or two and look from Clearwater down to Naples and check out all the developments that are being built.

Great video Juan. I brought my daughter down to St. Pete this last weekend to scout out. She loved the area, hoping to move down later this year or beginning of next. I’m a Realtor in Montgomery County, MD with a KZbin channel so from one KZbinr to another, you do a great job and bring a lot of value.

I love downtown St. Pete! It is more expensive but it is nice that it is very walkable. Plenty of parking as Juan said and fairly reasonable. Tropicana Field is close within biking or walking distance. The bus system, although not great, is a bit better than Tampa. Traffic on 275 is horrific and it is usually due to people driving with their cell phones on (yes, still legal in Florida). As a newbie to the Bay Area, I noticed that each county has the ability to follow or not follow the state fireworks laws. There are 4 days a year in which lighting of fireworks (unrestricted types and varieties) is legal. Pinellas county (including St. Pete) has opted out of that law thus not allowing the private consumption of fireworks while Hillsborough county has not. If you live in Tampa and have small dogs or children, you should prepare to have at least 4 nights a year of sleep disrupted.

Rats are definitely a problem. If you or your neighbors have fruit trees, you will have a rat problem. They eat the fruit right off the trees and if your attic isn’t sealed, they will move in. They will also live in your garage if your garage door doesn’t seal. We’ve dealt with it in every home we’ve lived in here.

Red tide has a worse history in Sarasota county. There is perennial red tide in Sarasota County. Pinellas problems were severely exacerbated by chemical waste spills from Manatee County and hurricane waste two years ago this October. It killed many generations of fish like Lee and Collier Counties. It will be a while before fishing is back to what it was but the water is clear and beautiful most of the time. Most inhabitants have no idea of the health of the bay.

I moved here and lived for 2 almost 3 years. I'm moving back to my Home State. The citizens of this city are great. The people who own the business and run the city and own the restaraunts here and whatever else are pure evil. It disguises itself as a gentle welcoming place for blossoming creativity and progression. As an artist I can tell you it's the exact opposite of that. Everyone HATES you for who you are, they want the worst for you, and on your worst day they will kick you down. And you won't be able to afford rent barely and definitely don't even dream of saving up money, it's all gone. The towing company are the worst, and the police run the entire city. Absolutely corrupt, evil, and disgusting people. And no I'm not joking. If you are thinking of moving here, think again

Just a couple things to add on. He touched on taking Uber out Lyft. This is a necessity because there is very little parking in areas of the greatest attraction. In central ave you Wii spend an hour circling the block looking for a parking space. Utilize Lyft and Uber. You can have fun without worrying about drinking and driving and spend more time enjoying your night rather than spending it trying to park. The other negative again in specific areas of the city is the open hostility and racism in stress that are being gentrified. I’m from New York and it was an eye opener.

Tons of flooding bcuz the city won’t fix the drainage problems yet continue to build massive apartment & condo buildings. Insurance is crazy high. If ur a democrat you’re not welcome here. Money named Ybor City one of the best places to live in America. Ex-coworker retired now lives in and loves Valrico, and all of my other friends live in the Tampa area. We have two picnics/campouts a year in Valrico. People all around the country come to that and wish they could stay. Will be interesting to see how The NAR Real Estate Commission Settlement will affect home sales and prices.

The Tampa Metro area (which includes St Pete), is terrible now. I visited St Pete to examine for a possible move there and I was not impressed at all. Traffic was absolutely horrific all throughout Pinellas County. Downtown St. Pete is where the leftists gather, paint the streets with rainbow flags, and do their protests. It’s the San Francisco of Florida. It felt really crappy. And the drive to the beach was not a nice, easy, or quick one. I was just overall not impressed with the vibe at all. Tampa suburbs are much better.
