My wife and I are working on making Cape Town home for part of the year. Currently we are helping our folks as care givers. Thx for your hardwork. It entertaining and valuable.

Hey Guys! What a cute apartment ! ! It's all you need. Wow ! The views are stunning ! Capetown is awesome!. We keep saying we need to visit there. It's coming. 🙏🙏 Having a community to tap into is something we take for granted. It's so special. The cost of your average apartment for a one bedroom is around $1700 with utilites in the US. Harriet and I predict that you will own your own home soon,. You're granny was right. Home is where the heart is. And that's where we feel it with you guys. Sending you much love and affection ❤🫂 from Richmond, VA. Harriet, Jim and Yuki🐶 P.S. Yes ! show us more of Capetown and surrounding areas

Hey guys! I just want to put a very important disclaimer here: while we encourage tourists and digital nomads to come visit our beautiful city, we do not encourage property investors and foreigners to purchase property in Cape Town. There is a very real housing crisis for locals in this city with foreign investors buying up all the properties here and renting them out for insane rental prices that (obviously) the local cannot afford. The locals are starting to get very angry and very stressed. Please don’t be part of the problem. Thank you brus!🫶🏻🙏🏻

Ive been watching vloggers since 2020 - people like Lost Le blanc; Kara and Nate etc and I just found your videos which are really great. Im from Cape Town and live in the south peninsula (you have to come see this side) and have never seen a south african vlogger this good so really well done and I definitely plan on subscribing for more content. FYI Sea Point is one of the most expensive places to live in Cape Town. Where I stay you get a 3 bedroom house, garden, swimming pool, garage and more for R16000 a month, in one of the safest neighbourhoods - but this is ideal for those with families as it is definitely a residential area. There are more than 4 different beaches within 15 mins drive in two different directions and they are some of the most beautiful in cape town so definitely come check it out. All the best - Your appartment is very cute and beautiful though so well done. im excited to catch up on your older videos and see what else you bring out xoxox

Like I said in my previous comments you live in such a beautiful city. One of my favourite places in the Western Cape is Stellenbosch. Also places like Franschhoek and Tulbagh. It would be great to see a video set out that way. Those pictures with Lions Head in the background are spectacular. Had a braai in Seapoint once when I took my mother to South Africa. Great spot.

Great tour guys. I love that couch. That's definitely a steal. The apartment rental definately seems like a Cape Town price. The one thing that'll keep me in Joburg for a while. For now, Cape Town is a holiday destination. Looking forward to the next video.

What's Cape Town like in early August? I'm planning on visiting Cape Town for my honeymoon this year in early August before going to Kruger and then Mauritius. I've read its windy and cooler, but coming from the UK the temperature doesn't look too bad at all haha (its 3 degrees celsius right now, so 15degrees seems like summer to me). What I want to see is if the skies are still blue, or not, and what are the potential activities that can be done?

@RhettandClaire 7 сағат бұрын
August isn’t a great time, it’s cold and rainy and grey. You may get lucky with one or two sunny days but it might rain the entire time and most activities are outdoors so it’ll be difficult to do any of the best stuff😭. You could wine taste and shop at markets and eat at the many restaurants if it’s bad weather but that’s about it. To avoid disappointment, we’d say plan later in the year🙏🏻

Must be nice being able to afford staying in a city many South Africans will never afford , foreigners making even more difficult to afford CT as they continue to buy every block in CT, due to underperforming rand, locals continue to be displayed *sigh*
@ajodendaal
@ajodendaal 7 сағат бұрын
Have you given it any thought that CT would lose much of its economy and hundreds of thousands of job opportunities without foreign investment and tourists??? Affordable housing is a challenge faced by millions (if not billions) of people across the world. Furthermore, each and every city across the globe has affordable and less affordable areas, and all countries have more affordable and less affordable cities. The underperforming Rand and poverty in SA has nothing to do with foreigners or the housing market. You should look closer to home for the main root cause of this particular issue ........................ let me give you a clue: you spell it "A - N - C"!!!!

Ya it’s hectic. Foreigners shouldn’t be allowed to buy property here and rent it out for such insane European prices. The government needs to put some laws and regulations in place now. It’s getting out of hand!

The gentrification of my beautiful city I call home is well underway, first came apartheid forcing my people from district 6 now it’s rich foreigners gentrifying the place of my birth making it unaffordable for generations of people who where born & raised there

Here is the problem while we welcome visitors, digital nomads paying in dollars and euros are completely messing up the housing market for locals in Cape Town. This is privilege that most non white South Africans have. Creating these kind of videos just exacerbates the problem when you create videos in dollars, you are speaking to mostly foreigners. You guys aren’t thinking about the housing crisis in CT for real locals. Selfish.
@RhettandClaire
@RhettandClaire 10 сағат бұрын
This mentality is not right. You can’t be blaming digital nomads for the increase in prices of housing, blame the landlords. We’ve been digital nomads ourselves in many cities in the world and accommodation has stayed affordable in those places because the locals there aren’t greedy the way they are here. Cape Town has the most amount of Airbnb’s out of any city in the world - it’s pure greed and completely unnecessary. Also, blame the government for ENCOURAGING and allowing foreigners to own property here and to allow them to charge whatever they want. Thailand has been a digital nomad hotspot for decades, you don’t see them charging European pricing for accommodation and yet there have been millions of visitors (millions more digital nomads) visiting than there have been here.
@LINLYN81
@LINLYN81 7 сағат бұрын
@ you are absolutely correct and yes the DA government has a lot to answer for but you exacerbate the problem by making videos like this. There is PLENTY of research on this, its supply and demand if a city has thousands of foreigners flooding the market who are willing to pay higher prices with dollars and euros and most South Africans can only pay in rands most land lords are going to push those prices and take the dollar paying tenant, that is just basic economics of supply and demand. You will hear from every estate agent that locals are being out priced by most European and American foreigners even on the rental market. There limited real estate in the city bowl so locals get pushed out further and further, the same people who struggle to afford the transport to get to their jobs in the city bowl. Yes, Airbnb is massive problem but for a great deal of digital nomads they are happy to go into shorter term rentals and spend a higher fee which also feeds into the problem. I own in Cape Town, a loft I bought in 1999 and I can tell you that in 2020 I used to rent out my place for about 12k, last year when my tenant moved out (not including x2 5% increases) my agent wanted to put up the rental price to 21k as she was very confident I would be able to find a renter for that amount with the influx of foreigners, I very nicely told her to leave it at R15k and only rent to South Africans. That’s the reality of what is going on in the market. Look at what is happening in Mowbray and Salt River with the developments that the DA government has approved, overpriced little boxes made of tickytacky and I can guarantee that the original population is being pushed out. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM and YOUR PRIVELEGE is showing.
