Torrance is the best city in LA County. It’s safe, clean, next to the beach, and it’s upscale without being obnoxiously booshy like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. The city’s motto is “The Balanced City.” It’s even written on the side of all the city vehicles. I love living in Torrance. If it wasn’t for SouthBay I’d hate living in LA.

Really surprised at your comments about Walteria. I moved her about a year ago. I live right across from the park you filmed from. I do not remember ever hearing a plane going overhead. Nor do you hear traffic on pch from the residential area. Indeed, it is a remarkably quiet area, notwithstanding your mentioning airplane and automobile traffic three or four times in your coverage of Walteria. It is a positive being so close to pch to easily get around. Additionally, we are surrounded by great resources - wonderful restaurants and markets, including Sprouts and nearby Trader Jo’s and Whole Foods.
@livingintorrance

That is really great to hear. I just want people moving here to be aware of possible issues they could have, but I would bet many people living in Walteria have the same feelings as you.

Geographic wise Torrance sweet spot is past north of the Mobil Refinery the North Torrance around North High through Gardena border near El Camino College your next to the beaches, next to Gardena where there solid amazing Mexican and Japanese cuisine next to LAX frankly this is the best part of LA imo. Past The refinery south is nice and all but hard to get out and congested af now.

I grew up in Torrance; attended South High. ( it’s not that close to the Riviera) lived w/in a few blocks from the airport; it handles small private aircraft only. It has upscale ambitions; dangerously close to over development. It is expensive to live in.

Ate a delicious wholefoods spiced apple cookie, washed down with a cool Kearns Nectar, in an empty Walteria park, early in 1981. I was the first New Zealander to do that. Was staying with Pat Meehan and the gang in nearby Paseo de Las Estrellas, and I'd highly recommend that neighbourhood. Should out to Laura Jirado! Yeeew!

You definitely pushing the more expensive part of torrance. You also didn't mention the traffic is horrible! Certain times of the day traffic is pretty much at a stand still. Torrance is building more and more condos and apartments, more traffic it's not unusual to drive 3 or 4 miles and take 20 minutes or more to get to your destination. The traffic mess is the only big drawback to living in Torrance, the rest is great!
@livingintorrance

Yes I agree the traffic can be bad. In one of my other videos I went over the pros and cons and talked about how the traffic and the cost of living here are big downsides. This video was more of just a tour of the area.

Lolllll You just mentioned the refinery and then all of a sudden you cut to your outro music. I’ve been wanting to live in California all my life pretty much and I’ve just recently lined up a couple jobs but unfortunately they are pretty far from Torrance and that’s where I found a shared living situation for about $1400 for a bedroom. Which I think is quite expensive because to me it wasn’t close enough to the beach whenever it’s the same price as over there. Plus that refinery lights up the entire city sky!! I couldn’t see a single star in the sky because it put off so much exhaust, it was probably the cloud cover to reflecting those lights. But it was just hideous to me. Plus it smells a little weird too in my opinion. I don’t know if, it does seem like a great central location to hit Hermosa and Long Beach. I didn’t know there was an old town. I wish I would’ve explored that. I’m still debating on moving over there at least on a temporary basis. Always a trade-off, Live by the beach with no peace and quiet and probably no backyard or a live somewhere like Torrance where you could actually have some peace and quiet and maybe a driveway or some type of backyard to entertain friends and even have a pet
@livingintorrance
@livingintorrance 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree California is very expensive. You have a really good concept of the area for not living here. It definitely is a trade off living by the beach with no space or being further inland and having more room. I think Torrance is a good mixture of both, but it is getting more and more expensive as well. Lately I have not seen any 1 bedrooms here for under 1800 a month, but that is not a shared situation. I have also had clients reach out saying that they are okay with any area of Torrance not near the refinery, so that is understandable.
@DanielGennaro
@DanielGennaro 2 жыл бұрын
@@livingintorrance Thanks for the reply! yeah Im pretty bummed I didnt jump on this shared living situation in Long Beach- seemsl ike more my speed. I have a few opportunities to live off of Manhattan beach or venice/SM, but on the real, manhattan seems a little boring to me, and venice and SM to me is almost toooo much action! I get so nervous out there! its overwhelming... Im from Pennsylvania originally and been in Arizona for a few years- so im not used to BIG city living and thats the BIGG of the big city except for NYC! I dunno man, its always been a dream to live the beach life! go surfing! endless beautiful women, all the fitness culture! its just finding some place I can afford cause I aint in IT or engineering... its such a splurge place, like your going out to eat all the time... and i make about $20-$25 an hour- so a $1,400 a month apartment I feel is gonna be hard to break even maybe. I've always loved the venice area the most though... i mean theres nothing like it in the US I dont think. All the the culture and creative quirky expressive ppl. Its magical and wicked in a whole different way..

@@livingintorrance I think I heard that we have the one of the only one or only few king Hawaiians like restaurant and we have a open air market that I’ve not gone to yet but will at one point and we have a lot of nice parks like Columbia park, McMaster Park, City of Torrance Guenser park and we have like two smaller parks one within the refinery area and another near the CarMax across from the galleria. The Traffic here in North Torrance isn’t that bad it’s pretty normal for across Los Angeles. The freeway is pretty great when you want to go to downtown and all those other places. We actually have a lot of apartments on 182nd and Artesia that would be great for people going to El Camino which is right next to north Torrance but some people say that the apartments make the area look less desirable which I don’t really find a problem with since there are apartments everywhere in LA. The Schools here are okay, I’m currently going to North High School so I’ll be done with school soon and all I can say is that they are fine the schools but elementary school was kinda difficult the principal could have done a better job with handling the kids and handling situations between kids but everything else was okay.
