We’ve been living in Torrance for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. The only big drawback (aside from LA real estate prices generally) is that our neighborhood is 10-15 minutes away from the nearest freeway, which lengthens any commute. That said, there’s an absolute ton of stuff nearby: lots of great food, shops, weekend events, parks, beaches, and a lot of neighborhoods are quite walkable. It’s a really nice place.

Oh, another fun thing: a lot of shows & films were shot around here. The high schools & main street from _Buffy The Vampire Slayer_ are all in Torrance, the Hermosa Beach pier is prominent in a few scenes in _La La Land,_ etc. It’s a small thing which is pretty neat once you start to notice it.

A cousin lives in Torrance. It's got a huge Japanese community there hence the japanese food there is one of the best in the city. Del amo is a great modern shopping centre for sure.

Torrance is a wonderful place to live. I grew up there and wish I could live there again. The climate is so pleasant because of being near the ocean. I wish my parents had never moved our family away from there because I would have stayed there for the rest of my life.

Grew up in Torrance… now live in Tokyo. My parents purchased a home for around 40k in the 70s and later sold it for just under 100k in 1980… I couldn’t imagine paying the prices that they are asking now, it’s ludicrous. In 2000 I purchased a small home in the Hollywood hills for 275k and sold it a couple of years later. One million for a home in Torrance almost makes me sick but had great memories growing up in the South Bay in the 70s.

My grandparents paid $5K for a home near Torrance Blvd & Crenshaw in 1927. Sold for $222K after they passed. Zillow now estimates it just shy of $1.2M.

That’s where I grew up! On Lesserman St. near corner of Crenshaw & Torrance blvd. it was a wonderful place to grow up in the 50’s & 60’s. I miss it so much.

Born and raised and I love it. It is pricey though but if you bought a home there ages ago you might be ok...

He said it's an "affordable" area, yet the houses are over 1 million for 1k square feet homes. Insanity.

yes prices have gone up a lot in the last 10 years.

Yeah, but it’s relative. LA-area prices are crazy in general.
