One of the reasons that your mom wanna live in the village that is: she has many friends and known people there, then she have someone to gossip and do things with, she is much more familiar to the country lifestyle in her hometown rather than being lonely inside in a strange city.

Mặc means deep down and quietly inside that most ppl cannot realize it exist in their body, head. It is your super-ego; cảm is feeling, sense. There are two types of mặc cảm, 1. Mặc cảm tự ti, sense of inferiority 2. Mặc cảm tự tin, sense of superiority. Mặc cảm only doesn't mean good or bad. It a kind of sense.

Everything you said in this video was so true a Tai. I am used to live in Viet Nam for 18 years so I have the same thoughts as yours.

I enjoyed your video. I found it entertaining and informative but also very sad because the culture you described is not conducive to academic and intellectual progress both at an individual and collective level.

I am always curious as to how westerners who don't understand the language of the particular country they are in, seem to think they understand the concept of face. This video is different, because he is obviously very Vietnamese (even though he is also American), so he can actually grasp the concept.

If you don't speak vietnamese and live in their culture, I do not know how a westerner will be able to understand the "face" culture. It's the same when I explain the American "underdog" culture to the Vietnamese people, they can not understand it no matter how you explain it.

right. I just find it funny in Thailand when westerners live here and don't speak Thai and then think they are in the position to be able to explain face here. They explain it in a very shallow manner. @@phuongphapthanhcong

Hi Tai, fun video, I too, have noticed that in the culture. It causes so much inefficiencies. Care to share how you now protect your software with future developers?

Mặc cảm also like you think lower social status when comparing with others . It's also like low self confident and think yourself is not equal to others because scaring of others judge about you.
