You should have understood what they mean when saying Vietnam a "New China". Of course VN could never be a China because Vietnam is a so small country comparing to China. "New China" here means Vietnam could develop at the same rate as China in the past when China GDP increasing rate was at more than 10% for many years. That rate is a dream come true for Vietnam. Unfortunately I am afraid that Vietnam could never obtain that rate and China would leave VN behind at higher rate. Vietnam's GDP per capita started with a half but now just a third of China.

@@ChuckN516 We clearly know Vietnam will never be a new China economically because they have much greater advantages than us. Such comparisons will lead to nowhere. Even the current strongest economy - the US, will be surpassed by them really soon. However, to say Vietnam is ... something China may upset Vietnamese people, especially in terms of politics and history. The wording (the title) used here is not appropriate, at least to the Vietnamese. We do have economic relationships with them but we are indepedent from them when it comes to politics, military, sovereignty and territorial integrity. To achieve that you need to have minority educations. In China one can easily find textbooks of all subjects in Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Khazak and Kirghiz; you can find math academic papers written in Mongolian, etc.; all schools and textbooks development costs in those minority languages are covered by the government system; all university, etc. all across China provides halal food whenever they have a cafeteria (even if in a city without sizable Muslim population); a minority can choose to take their college entrance exam in Mongolian exclusively; and bilingual signs are mandatory in minority speaking areas so that minorities can survive when they don't speak Mandarin. Yet in Vietnam I've heard the most recent constitution requires every Vietnamese must be able to speak Vietnamese; I've never seen any Champa city that even managed 10% of it's street sign written in Cham, and not to mention Khmer Keon sign in HCMC or Tay-Ning sign in the North; I've never seen any Tay/Nung/Cham textbook in subject other than their languages themselves (such as math, physics, history, etc.) published in Vietnam; nor have I heard of any exam that can make them achieve their social goal in those languages. So sorry I can't link Vietnam with the word "multicultural".

Vietnam was quick with responding to closing off its borders with China, implementing compulsory health declaration, and going into quarantine for all Vietnamese and international travelers. Schools have been closed for a few months and only open again in the last two weeks. Vietnam learned from the early 2000's SARS outbreak, which in turn prepared the country for this pandemic. The government even prepared to quarantine the people in military camps with daily routines performed by doctors and nurses checking and record people's temperature. The government was efficient in tracking down people who directly and indirectly came into contact with confirmed cases and were quick to issue treatment at local hospitals for free. Sometimes, the entire block or buildings were quarantine due to a confirmed case. People in those areas were provided with free foods and supplies. Travelers were able to receive free treatment and free accommodation if they had to be quarantined during there stay in Vietnam. They were extremely strict with their mask usage and even fined people if they did not wear one as it violated safety procedures that were put in place. Local news updates the number of cases and recovery daily like they have been doing everywhere else. They also pushed many ways to raise awareness of how serious the virus is, as well as how to protect themselves from spreading or catching the virus. Incorrect information online or on Facebook was examined, and if found to be false news, those responsible were fined for intentionally sharing inaccurate information. Some would speculate that the hot and humid weather helped in reducing the risk of transmission. However, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore have a similar climate, and their numbers are significantly higher. Not to mention that back in December to March, it was transitioning from winter to spring with the days being cool in temperature. With the quick decisions made by the Vietnam Government and the support of the Vietnamese people, the virus was prevented from spreading faster sooner. People were coming together as a community, helping others who had difficulties by providing each other with free rice and free masks.

Same thinking: I live in HCMC, why are they interviewing people in Singapore to talk about the situation in VIETNAM ? And no Vietnamese business man or official commerce representative interviewed. I don’t know when this was filmed, probably February early March ? As China and Wuhan is getting out of lockdown Factories are back on operation busy sending medical supplies and masks to the world. So I m not sure VIETNAM will lack of electronic supplies but Hanoi HCMC have entered a 14 days quarantine end of March so the factories probably on pause. VIETNAM is indeed suffering a loss of incomes related to tourism industry because they shut down the tourists: hotels, aviation, shops, restaurants, gym, venues of entertainment, hairdressers, beauty salon, all small no essential businesses suffers from loss of income during the social distancing time. Back in February they had already lost -40% incomes before social distancing. Vietnamese farmers had a problem to keep exporting their fruits to China early February. This report doesn’t even talk about if Vietnam can profit from Covid-19 crisis, of course I guess not, they lose more than they earn. But they have hand sanitizers factories, listed to the list of countries that applied to produce the future vaccine, they produce test kits that was sold in Europe and buy others from South Korea, they host Sanofi Pierre Fabre manufactures so we still have paracetamol, no reported shortage of medication or drug components like in Europe that based the main supply of pharmaceutical ingredients on China’s production. Vingroup partenered with USA to produce ventilators, they have medical and non medical masks factories, they recently donated 550.000 non medical antibacterial masks 😷 to Europe 🇪🇺 Italy 🇮🇹 Spain 🇪🇸 Germany 🇩🇪 France 🇫🇷 UK 🇬🇧 as a humanitarian help, which might also lead to the optic of selling cheap 1€ antibacterial masks to Europe as Europe textile factories are slow to start producing their own masks and the antibacterial nano silver technology is a +. So if Vietnam has the capacity to produce extra, they can export. But indeed the capacity of production in Vietnam 🇻🇳 97 Millions of habitants cannot compete with the capacity of production of China 1,4 Billions of habitant : they produce 116 Millions medical masks per day. Vietnam had sent for 500.000$ medical supplies to Wuhan early February. My point is : Vietnam is less dépendant on China than I and others would have thought.

The state sectors that Vietnam's government controls such as textiles, food, furniture, paper, plastics, as well as tourism and telecommunications, the market economy is directed towards the "socialist-orientation", based on diversified economy of multiple-existing ownership's public, private, collective and joint allows the the state and collective sectors play an important key role in the socialist-oriented market economy. The Vietnam Communist Party has never accepted that the country is in the pursuit of capitalism: i.e. “skipping” capitalism is interpreted as “skipping” a capitalist political regime, instead of “skipping” the achievements of human civilization created or used by capitalism (the developmental level of productive forces, science and technology and state and social governance…). It is the dialectics of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s “skipping” method. The socialist path in Vietnam has played an intrinsic role in the social development of the country, allowing foreign-direct investment, a diversified role in key sectors in which the manufacturing base in Vietnam has played a significant role in the growth and development, including expanding on services, hi-tech sectors and agriculture playing its role in the economic development. Even after the experience of China, many nations have had difficulty understanding covid-19. There is no example of an outbreak of a virus as contagious as covid-19 being stopped at its source. Even for serious illnesses from covid-19, it is difficult to distinguish the covid-19 cases from other diseases that cause pneumonia like symptoms. Whether or not China could have stopped covid-19, there will be some global anger towards China because it was the source of the outbreak. But, the idea that covid-19 might change long term global economic trends most likely will prove wrong. It is much more likely that the process of dealing with the crisis caused by the outbreak and recovering from it will reinforce the trends already in progress. Many experts in virus epidemics have predicted that 40% to 70% of the world's population will inevitably be infected with covid-19. China appears to have brought its epidemic under control with only a tiny fraction of that number. There has not been much news about how Vietnam is doing with its covid-19 problems. But, East Asian nations seem to be doing better than Europe. There appears a large possibility that the United States will do particularly poorly in controlling covid-19 and keeping the American outbreak from spreading across the whole nation. China appears likely to get its manufacturing export economy going again at the start of the first wave of global economic recovery. It is likely to work hard at rebuilding its international economic relationships and in helping other nations recover from covid-19. There likely will continue to be talk in the United States about bring supply chains back to American sources. But, existing sources are likely to recover more quickly than the United States. Once they are going again, the logic of moving them probably will not be particularly compelling.

Hi my friend, to my point of view the source of the outbreak might not be the acute source. This can be refer to the history of the virus, we got to go back more to cut the roots. Have a nice day my friend. Just relax and be happy to improve our health. Smile to happiness. Hehehe.

Please don’t refer us as China, we even don’t share the same genetics due to one of the biggest biological study recently!

Hưng Tiến you misunderstood the reference (analogy). Refers to a poor nation rising to being a wealthy and progressive nation. Not about becoming China

Hưng Tiến VN is called mini China or some call the Republic of South China.
