Relationships should be base on connection, shared interest outside of the color of a person skin. The ability to be comfortable with each other. This is how it should be for men and women. One of the psychologists who writes for Ebony recently explained something to the effect that "I don't have a problem with a mixed couple--UNLESS, the black man sees the white woman as "a score", which she explained, IS a problem. In other words, it's fine if "for the right reasons", and not, in fact, because of a form of racism which is "I got to have me, a white woman". IN those cases, no one is "tripping" about the problem, in those cases, it IS a problem. Here is evidence of same: for every time you see a white guy with a black woman, you will see then times that with the man being black. Why is that? According to the black psychologist, it is absolutely because of that deep seeded thing in SOME (no, not all) black men to measure "success" as scoring a white woman.

I'm half black and half white. African German by descent. I have been in a relationship with my beautiful Irish-Polish fiance for almost 12 years. During the course of our relationship, I told her everything about me. Who I am, where I am from, my disability (being autistic and bipolar) my likes and dislikes and my hopes for our future. However, the strange thing is that my ethnic background never came up. And I never could figure out how. One day I was in the car with her and her father when we had been together for about three years and she was only my girlfriend at that point, somehow I mentioned that I was black. She was shocked. I thought that it was one of the first things that I told her. However, for some reason in the three years that we had been together to that point it never came up. I was nervous for a second. I thought maybe that it would be a problem. However, she said that she didn't care what color my skin was. She was just in love with me. And I felt the same way about her. It has been eight years since that day. We still love each other and are planning on getting married. My parents love Heather because of the support that she has given to me and the happiness that she brought to my life. My future in laws love me and do not care about the color of my skin. They just love me because of how I treat their daughter and how much she means to me. They do not care about the color of my skin. The only thing that they care about is that their daughter has a man in her life that treasures, loves, and values her, and that I put her above all else in my life. They are happy that our love has been pledged to each other and that I am there not only for her but for them as well. Love is color blind. That is the way I see it. When it comes to race, both my family and my fiancé's family are color blind. My in laws love me. My parents love my fiance. I can only imagine what it's going to be like when we finally say I Do.
