Anyone can be Jain. Lord Mahavir said anyone can become like him following non-violence. you don't have to be born in Jain family to become Jain. Jain means a person who has control of his love(attachment) and hatred(animosity) against any living beings in this universe.

Basically being a perfect "Brahmachari" who is celibate and refrains from any and all foods that stimulate LUST, Greed, Ego, Anger, Jealousy, Pride and other desires. Jain way of life is superior to Brahmin way of life. But, the problem with Jainism is that they prohibit evolution of their religion. Reforms can be done for some belief systems too using modern science.

Jainism is the oldest religion in the world, based on the teachings of Ahimsa(Non-Violence) or reverence for all living beings. There in NO founder, There is NO creator ! The universe is eternal and the earth we live in , is just a small spec in comparison . Non-Violence, Truth, Celibacy, Non-Stealing, Non-Possessiveness are few of the main beliefs. The Jain cuisine is completely vegetarian and also excludes underground vegetables such as potato, garlic, onion etc, to prevent injuring small insects and microorganisms, and also to prevent the entire plant getting uprooted and killed. There are about 4 million Jains in the world. Their aim is to achieve liberation of the soul (becoming God themselves ) by not being born again in another body. Jains believe this can be achieved through a life devoted to non-violence,compassion and the rejection of possessions. It does NOT derive from Hinduism, Budhism or any other faiths. It’s always been there since time (forever). Beside the 24 Thirthankers , 608 souls achieve Moksh every 6 months. They are all Gods - They achieve eternal peace and can know the past ,present and future if they want to - but they have no desire to.

Bro. You are wrong. You don't know about the concept of Ahimsa in Jainism. The concept of Hinsa and Ahimsa are divided many of category . For a warrior if he is fighting for the country to protect, they can fight and kill also. As of today there are many Jains who are in army.
