The Patient Story

3 жыл бұрын

Beth was just 29 years old and the mother of two young kids when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. After first-line treatment of radiation, chemotherapy, and a successful stem cell transplant, she lived 12 years with no sign of myeloma. In our series, Beth shares how she relapsed and her journey to find the right treatment, while living life to the fullest.
In this segment (TIME CODES BELOW), Beth shares the impact of the myeloma on her life, including how she decided to retire from work and learning how to accept support from others. She also dives into the importance of participating in clinical trials and in sharing her story, to help heal herself and hopefully others who are looking for some connection.
Thank you for sharing your story, Beth!

I'm just starting this scenario...will have my bone biopsy next week. and it scares me a lot to be sick and in my apartment alone. I'm not married and my children work full-time and can't care for me and I'm really scared for when it's going to make me feel and if I will be able to care for myself properly. I know when I get the flu I go days without water and sometimes I just wont get out of bed because I feel so horrible and I'm sure that makes it even worse, because I'm dehydrated and hungry ...sometimes I just get too dizzy to get out of bed. So I'm kind of scared of the prospect of getting ill by myself.

You can set up a go fund me page for yourself so you can participate in a clinical trial if it would benefit yourself!
