I needed to hear this! I’m a mom of three boys, my oldest and middle son are on the autism spectrum. I was in an extremely physically and emotionally abusive relationship with their father for six years. One morning, I got up, saw him (for the hundredth time) drunk again on the living room floor. I told myself this is the last time my kids and I will ever have to deal with this. I packed up, went to my parent’s apartment, and now I’m here. You described it perfectly! I didn't realize how bad my relationship was until I had my son. I remember the moment it clicked. I was sitting in the hospital bed, it was like 2am, I was breastfeeding, and I was staring at my sons father asleep on the couch. I knew in that moment that it was never going to work between us. I tried so hard because of the baby, but I knew staying was only going to make it worse for my son. Now 3 years later, my sons father has only seen him 3 or 4 times and is struggling with drug abuse. This video made me cry, it is so pure and although in the midst of healing Shyla I know God is and will always be by your side and will be your strength through the hardships. You’ve already made impact on so many. Brought light to subjects normally pushed under the rug. Lead by example and given strength and courage to those who are living that nightmare. Your good soul and heart shines Shyla please never dim your light for anyone. ♥️

I never watched the channel you used to upload to with your ex, but I can tell from listening to your story that you must’ve been so incredibly caught up in him and how he treated you. I’m tearing up writing this because I know so many friends who have been in abusive relationships, some have made it out and some are still stuck. All I can say is I admire your strength, courage and willpower to keep going, to stay strong for your daughter and for yourself. Men like him have to be held accountable and I know that’s a driving force for a lot of women, but it’s equally as important to simply detach and start to live your life for yourself. That’s the best revenge I think. You’re and incredible woman, I am so in awe and I know you’re setting a great example for your daughter. Thank you for speaking up and for telling your story. Sending you all of my love today, all the way from Sweden ❤️

I’m in a relationship with a narcissistic currently and EVERY SINGLE TIME I got to record his toxic Vile actions towards me, just like a light switch, he changes up his character and plays victim and then all of a sudden I’m the crazy one. I am so happy you got out and became better and stronger and independent for yourself and your daughter. I am trying hard to gather strength and watching what you’ve gone through is helping me. I feel like most of us ladies have gone through some type of abuse in most of our relationships and we all at one time thought it was okay and that it was normal. But overtime we got fed up and realized everything they did to you was unacceptable and not normal. It took me over 7-8 years to realize abuse in every form. From physical to mental I’ve had it all and I let so many people use me because I thought as long as they claimed to love me that they did love me.

This also makes you realize that the traumas that we carry as a child can affect us in the future… this is why is so important to heal cuz without knowing we can transmit that to our children and it can affect them in their adult life. We need to learn to not blame anyone for our own traumas.

When we see abuse as children, we, without realising internalize it. If we don't learn to see abuse for what it is, we can end up in abusive relationships trying to resolve our childhood conflicts with other people. It's familiar to us and we end up attracting it. We think if the person loves us, or tells us he loves us, after being abusive, it's okay. It is not okay and should never be normalised. I feel like you have had therapy since I can see from what you are saying, you are starting to heal and see things for what they are. I am glad you moved away. Now you can truly shine, heal and who knows, in the future find someone who is caring and loving towards you.

I was horribly abused as a child. My marriage, which was 18 years. NO abuse. He wouldnt hurt a flea or its feelings. We are still close friends and great co parents. A year after we split I started dating someone who had been my best friend for more than 25years. I was an idiot. He abused his wife and the girl before me. But we knew each other perfectly, he would never hurt me... WRONG. I feel like a dummy. I have a psych education. And I didnt see the gaslighting. That literally started on our first official date. I am bipolar and was stable. But he took every change to undermine any success I had in therapy. He would threaten to leave me if I got better. (dummy red flag to myself) It took SEVEN years. During that time he would r*pe me in my sleep because I need meds to sleep I would wake up screaming, but in the morning he would tell me I wanted it. And then vicous verbal abuse. I caught him cheating with the girl before me on instagram, the day I found out I had cancer. And even then I was too weak to leave he had me convinced I was to crazy to live with out him telling me how. But then he dumped me for her. She a moron and good luck. If a man forced me to abort our twins (because she was gas lit too) and goes back . ...Im not dumb she prob never was gone. My gut knew but I didnt trust it. I dont know if I fell into my parent pattern there. Sorry for the long post. But I just want people too pay attention to who you are with. If you are crying everyday? NOT OK. If you no longer trust yourself. NOT OK. If your family and friends say you dont seem right. TRUST THEM,. Lots tried to save me. But I was blind.

@@jenniwilliams3295 Wow, thank you for sharing your story. Please don't feel guilty for staying or for missing what you now see as "obvious red flags" - You were in the throes of abuse and abusers have a knack for exploiting "weaknesses" and pressure points to keep you trapped. You did what you had to do to survive and you should never feel guilty for seeing the best in people no matter what they put you through. I'm really, really proud of you and I sincerely hope you are in a better and safe place, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Sending you all the love, strength, and well wishes in the world ❤️

You have an amazing energy & the strength you carry with yourself is so motivating... Coming from an abusive household from all of my childhood and so so so many holidays, weekends & moments that were taken away from me as i was growing up because I myself and my brothers I had to be around it like it was just a normal thing. But it never was normal. It was never okay to see the things I've seen and been exposed to. And to see you get that and feel that you understand just gives me so much more strength.... Thank you for being real and so motivating to all Women including myself... Keep doing these amazing hustler moves you're doing !!! And thank you for everything you offer us just being the Woman you are. ❤🙏❤ We love and support you Shyla. 💘💘 Keep being amazing !!!!!!!!
