The Irish really are one of the friendliest! I've been there several times by now and every time I just have been overwhelmed. Last year we arrived late at our cottage (near Carna) and didn't find an open supermarket to buy dinner. So we came to this little hotel with restaurant. The kitchen already had closed but we were told to come in anyway. We also were a party of 11 (friends and family) and they put together some tables and chairs for us and made some delicious little meals for everyone of us out of everything they could find. It was just the best start into the holidays! Hope you have a good time but I am certain you will! Clifden really is very nice. You definately have to travel along the coast, it is just awesome!

Ireland has always been my dream, I’m a born and raised now birthing and raising in WA state the PNW to be exact and its gloriously green here so the appeal of Ireland’s lush green overtook me!! Plus I love all things old (I was born in the wrong time) so the cottages and stone and castles have always appealed to me! I feel that at 30 with two small kids, a mortgage and husband who would rather stay put that my dream of Ireland will only be that, thank you for taking us on this journey with you! It makes me feel as though I’m there if only for a 15 min vlog! Thank you Knorpp family!

Your videos just make me so envious! I dream of visiting Ireland and getting to live in that little cottage would just make my heart so happy. I'm sure other people have already told you but in case they haven't, you can make your own pumpkin puree out of regular pumpkins. No need to search out pie pumpkins - just split a pumpkin, scoop it out, and bake till fork tender. Then mash (or puree in a blender).

your add blurps are running funny in between your vlog, not sure if anyone else having trouble. I had traveled to Ireland some time ago and totally agree how kind people are Ireland. my friend had some how got lost and ended up at the opposite part of town in Galway. we had stopped to ask an old man that was waiting for his wife to get off work for directions. they so kindly drove us back all the way to the other side as we were quite far from our hotel. it was so awesome, never would you think to just jump into a stranger's car but in Ireland, we felt safe. You will have a wonderful time in Ireland, can't wait to see more!!!!

What an awesome little cottage! The little pumpkins on your fireplace are pie pumpkins :) Those are the ones they make the stuff in the can from. Cut it into quarters and take out the seeds then you can roast it in the oven or even pop it in the crockpot with some water (leave skin on) . Puree the flesh once coked and you are go to go for all your favourite pumpkin desserts!

No need for canned pumpkin, easy to make. Just steam a pumpkin (after cutting in half and removing the seeds). Then scoop the meat out with a spoon, you can even include the skin with organic pumpkins. Dump in blender, add some cinnamon and a bit of water if necessary. Sooooo much yummier! Haven´t missed canned pumpkin ever.

Stores like the Supervalu you were in during this video or Tesco will have pumpkins but not usually until the end of October, the big ones usually go quick so keep an eye out. While Halloween was originally an Irish holiday we don't celebrate it to the same extent that people do in America, so don't be surprised if people don't seem to festive about it. Oh and the big vegetable Mike picked up in the store was actually a turnip, traditionally they was used instead of pumpkins to carve faces/designs into.

It is hard to find big pumpkins outside of North America. It is best to stick with the yummy pie pumpkins. I traveled to Ireland years ago and I think the best thing for me was the people. Here in Wales we bob for apples at Halloween, put apples in a pan of water so that they float, put your hands behind your back and try to get the apples by biting them, tie apples on string and hang them up also a bar of soap, every one, leaving one person in the room, goes out of the room. The person left changes the soap for another apple, the people out side are blindfolded one by one and let back into the room and try to bite the apples not the soap that they think is hang with the other apples. We use to have a few minutes each. We carved turnips as Jack-o-Latinos as said in another post.

Tesco sell pumpkin in a can. It is in the American section but it is very expensive. I think it's between £1.90-£2.50 per can. Also Asda (Walmart) sell big pumpkins. Well actually most supermarkets will be but not for another week.

The cottage is adorable!Love Lidl, shop there every week. I dont know how it is in Ireland but in the Netherlands they dont really sell the big pumpkins in the supermarkets this time of the year. Only a few days before Halloween. You can get them at farms however from half september through november. In the little village where I live there are many places with little stalls where you can buy them for very little. You just put the money in a box and take the pumpkin home :)
