Hi Chelsea I live in Germany and think it's great that you make Spätzle. You can make the Spätzle mixture a little, not much, thinner. To make your work easier, you can place the Spätzle press on the edge of the pot and then press it. What's also super delicious is frying the spaetzle in butter and sprinkling with cinnamon and sugar. Warm greetings from Germany Claudia

I grew up in Bavaria, Germany. We make German Spaetzle with water and not with milk and ate it with roast and gravy or made Cheese-Spaetzle. It is like a casserole with layers of Spaetzle and cheese and on top end with a layer of cheese, bake it in the oven for around 30 minutes. We serve it with potato salad. So yummy :)

Hi Chelsea, I from southern Indiana and your husband's name Dan and ranch sounds the same but pasta is definitely different from how we pronounce it here. I do watch other videos where they live in Canada and your pronunciation is how they say pasta. Definitely a regional difference but nothing to be concerned about. I really enjoy your videos, and very nice new furniture. It really brightens up the room.

Thanks to this video, you have identified a “mystery” item in my mother’s collection of kitchenware. She passed away when I was 16. I’m 80, now. All these decades I’ve kept this odd thing that looked to me like a press for a giant heads of garlic (whole head…not clove 😂). Will wonders never cease. This was wonderful! 👌. Oh, and the machine has some „teeth“ on the side opposite to the handles, so you can lean it on the pot, like you would put a wooden spoon on the diagonal of the pot. This way is essier to push. And I would make the dough a bit runnier.

Hi, I'm in NE Texas, born and raised for almost 65 years and I've been told I have a heavy southern accent. My brothers name is Dan and when you say it, I hear Dan. I also hear ranch clearly. Just your Canadian way of saying pasta (I say pausta) and you say house (I say howse) and about sounds like you're saying aboot, lol, there's some others but I can't think of them now. But I love listening to you! I have an old friend from Canada and I love how she pronounces words differently. It's what makes the world go round, eh? 😊 Had to come back and edit to say your living room is beautiful!!! I love it! And the heirlooms, wow! How amazing to have such treasures! I have my mom's first Bible. It is very special to me.

I am a retired Drama teacher who taught in high school in South Africa. I live and taught in schools in Durban. When I was studying Drama our lecturer taught us never to be phased by any persons accent, it is the rich tapestry of who you are as a person and reflects where you come from, so everyone who listens to you will know where you are from and there is no real right way to say anything unless you want to be phonetically correct. I enjoy your channel and I listen to you with great joy.

I have lived in Virginia since birth and live near rural areas with country accents and my mom had a hint of northern accent her family originated from Ohio. So, when you say roof, instead of smooth sound on the vowels yours is like a hard sound. It cracks me up because I was watching another homestead style youtuber and when he installed his solar system, he said it how you do. I have never laughed so hard for over 30 minutes. My mom's mother said metal and bottle with a "d" instead of "t", I would always get the look from mom when I started to giggle. As always thank you for sharing your world so I can escape mine for a few. Hope you and your family are healthy and happy.

Southern United States (North Carolina), and I hear Dan and Ranch, but my family is from the Midwest, so my accent is fairly traditional “American.” I love your Canadian accent, and especially the way you say cauliflower (we say Kahl-ih-flower here). It brings a smile to my face every time because it’s so much more musical with your pronunciation.

Love love love your new furniture!! It’s amazing how it freshens up the space even in the winter gloom. Imagine what it will look like in Spring/Summer. I with you I had dark coloured couches till my kids were young adults. Then I’ve gone for grey IKEA couches ( looks like your grey one). Much love from 🇦🇺🇦🇺

I hear Dan & Ranch, but pasta is different. I grew up in upstate NY, but live in S. Carolina, now. I'm German descent, but I've never had spatzle, it looks good. It seems like you really get an arm workout 😀 Your living room looks so pretty, it's posh, but cozy. Your grandmother was an amazing artist, thank you for sharing your precious memories.

Canadian's speak very clearly. In the US, we say pra-cess, Canadian's say PRO-cess. The US is VERY lazy when it comes to speaking English. I live in Michigan, I have been told I have an accent. I don't hear it, of course.

I’m in Wisconsin and I hear Dan and ranch “normal”. Lol. The couple of words I hear a little different are pasta and process. It’s not wrong just different. I’ve watched a couple different Canadian shows and they sound just like you. 😊. We are probably more lazy in the way we talk. You say PROcess. We say prahcess.

From Southern Germany/Bavaria here 👋 We use this only as potatoe ricer and have a different tool (more like a shaver) which forms shorter spätzle, called "Knöpfle". But works both! We usually cook big batches of spätzle like you did in water and then let them dry for 30 min on a wooden board and then freeze them (better to leave out the salt from the dough otherwise they get mushy...). Then you don't have to cook from scratch everytime. You need to try spätzle/grated pumpkin/cheese out of the oven! Not a typical german dish but good anyway.

Omgoodness Chelsea, that book is so wonderful. I love it. The bible looks a lot like my Gramas, I am Quite a bit older than you but it looks so similar in age.anyways love the new living room furniture. When I went to culinary school, I swear every European chef I had said Spatzle different. The one I remember was the A in spatzle was pronounced like eh, but who knows…..I just know I love it and that’s all that matters. Thanks for sharing 🌷🇨🇦

I hear you as you speak Dan is DAN.... and ranch! By the way I am from Georgia but not native to Georgia. You are fine and you can't change and speak to please everyone, so just be yourself because we like you just the way you are! Love the curio cabinet and especially all the antique figurines and cups and the old Bible such treasures. Your grandma 's drowning book, she was so talented! I am glad you stayed away from brown furniture! Thank you for sharing! Blessings ❤🙏🤗❤️

Don't be to hard to yourself about pronouncing "Spätzle"😅. If it helps the "s" is spoken like "sh" in several english words like "should". If you try them fried up with oinions, bacon and on top some "gruyere" cheese i'm sure your family would love it. Greetings from Berlin Germany

Hi, have fun with the Spaetzle. The Spaetzle with cheese and fried onions are a bit like a version of "Mac'n Cheese" (very popular as a dish in the German/Austrian/Swiss skiing areas). Try to incorporate into the dough mashed veggies like spinach, pumpkin, or carrots - or herbs like wild garlic. Further you can use the press not only for Spaetzle but for mashed potatoes or potatoes dumpling dough, but please press trough the peeled and cooked potatoes as long as they are warm. Kids will love it if you use the press for a spaghetti sundae: Press through vanilla ice cream, add strawberry sauce and finish of with white chocolate shavings. Enjoy!

You aren't saying pasta incorrectly. Gordan Ramsey says it the same way. Same with basil:) If you're ever unsure, you can ask Alexa. Love the new furniture and heirlooms! I have my grandfathers very small bible that he received when he joined the army in 1918!

Oh what fun this video about spätzle ! I live in Holland and I have a friend in Germany who also makes spätzle like that! It is pronounced like you would say the A in Kate, the ä. Love your furniture! It’s grand!❤❤❤

So I grew up in Germany, my mom was German and my eldest brother still lives there. The correct pronunciation is spa(long A)tzle( pronounced la). But you are so cool who cares how you pronounce it. I have never seen this product used as a spätzle maker, only as a ricer for potatoes. That doesn’t mean anything. If you Google Spätzle makers, they will show you what is usually used. Love you!

I’m from Maryland, my mom and her side come from Baltimore. My dad and his side are from Ohio. It’s interesting even hearing one side talk versus the other for me!! Heck, my husband is from South New Jersey and his family sometimes makes fun of my “Southern” accent because of how I say Baltimore. 😂 So far as “Dan” and “Ranch” I understand you perfectly but I think when I say it I place less emphasis on the a’s in the words than you.

I am from Denmark and I love your accent 😊. “Spätzle” is pronounced a bit different, but as a Dane the Germans would understand me as they understand you. Bonus info: We also have a letter in Denmark sounding a bit like “ä” 😊. Love your videos, you inspire me 🩷.

I am extremely deaf and use very loud Bluetooth headbands to watch utube. Even then, God help me if there’s no captioning! That being said, your speaking/enunciation is so precise, I don’t have to struggle to understand you. It makes it very relaxing to listen. I sang with Sweet Adeline’s womens barbershop for over a decade, and they stress vowels and pronunciation. That’s what I get from you naturally 😊 And your spatzle reminds me of what we called egg rivels growing up. We always had them in our potato soup…always made with water, not milk.

Ok I'm Canadian but you're clearly saying Dan not Don or Dawn or some other "sound". And we also don't say "aboot". That's a very regional thing, probably from somewhere in the Maritimes (guessing only). I'm from Montreal and I understand you without a problem. Though we do say pasta with a longer A rather than the "open" A you use 😉. Tomato - tomahto eh? 😂
