I love your perspective on not doing a massive makeover and doing things gradually. It’s so much more relatable to your audience because we’re regular people too! Sometimes watching other people do these massive makeovers all the time makes me feel bad that I can’t do things like that. But this reminds me that it’s normal to do things gradually and I feel good about taking my time. I love your style, I also tend to lean coastal too, and I like to do the same thing where it’s the coastal colors but not very literal with seashells and things like that because I live in the mountains not on the coast lol. Love this!

I think the room turned out great Lauren and it’ll only get better as you keep working on it. When you were at Homegoods talking about not having anywhere to put that stuff you like, what about on that console table? I really like it in the room and it’ll look great styled up. Excited to see what you do in part 2!

walls, curtains, brown chair are great although i would buy a second one. the couch is perfect in coulour and texture, its just the wrong size, its scale is off in the room, a 3 seater would of been better. the hall table is beautiful a smidge big for the area but i think lightening the stain or bleaching it would hide that issue. i would hang a mirror over it also. a tall dresser in the corner you thought would be perfect (great toy storage aswell). side table with lamp in the opposite corner with the 2 chairs side by side. new rug and use the ottoman as a soft coffee table with a tray. gallery wall of older frames above the couch. the room would look opened up and bright because nothing is blocking the entrance or window.

Lauren love the room the way it is now, adding additional furniture in such a small space will make it super cluttered . Take the chairs out of the corner and grey chairs from Walmart out . Nice big mirror would look really nice above the console table , no need for a buffet table or anything like that . With furniture you have there it looks really clean and put together . Love the small side table and the color anything else darker will stick out .

Sanding down older darker wood furniture to its natural wood then doing a matte sealer on the piece updates it and brings it back to life and looks amazing with all furniture.

I think a piece of art work would look nice, but I think you can use the frames on the side of the wall with a pictures of the boys. I also think you should add a few blue accents if you are going to be using the blue lamp. I do love the side tables you could always paint them a light blue or a brown taupe color. Use one of the side tables you don’t have to use two of them. I think using the console table on that wall is a great idea along with a gallery wall. Everything takes time, just take your time and add the pieces you really love. Costal would be pretty in that room. Specially if you enjoy the costal feel then you will love your room. Also I would try to add a rug so the boys can eventually lay on the floor and play or just use that room for family game nights?

Placing your sofa away from the wall and adjacent to the wall, with your chairs a cross from the sofa, it will give your room a more dynamic arrangement. Also, the other matching lamps fit the decor better than the dull, gray lamp.

Lauren, room is coming together really nicely! Living in New England, a lot of our homes are traditional and formal so those end tables definitely work here. I actually have a formal living room and dining room with cherry furniture. The rest of my house is probably somewhat transitional. I tend to shy away from trendy as styles come and go and who can afford that😳? Can’t wait to see how you finish styling👍🏼
