Per the psych drugs. We are not born short a pint of Prozac. The best thing to do is to work with a Functional MD to get to the root cause if you are in a state of grace. Whatever you do, don't take Benzos more than a few days/week. If I were on them (I was on them many years and had horrific w/d) I would follow Father's advice about a sloooow taper. But first get to the root cause of why the symptoms happened and heal that before any taper. Slow taper means 10% a month. God bless~

What should one do if you’ve spent your entire adult life teaching Kindergarten and first grade in a “nondenominational” Christian school? There were no “worship,” meaning sacrifice or supreme honor in the Catholic sense. It was not a “church.” The school policy was to stick to the bare basics of the Bible, Christian moral principles and Bible stories, at least in the lower grades, no dogma. I did sit with the staff and faculty during the five minute morning prayers, all ad libbed, and if asked to lead, very rarely, prayed the Our Father, Glory Be, or to the Holy Spirit, “Come Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of thy faithful…” At lunch and snack time in my classroom, we prayed the Catholic prayers before and after. It wasn’t until about 2015 that it started to really bother me at times, meaning, I thought perhaps it was wrong altogether. From 1985-2005, I was not practicing the Catholic Faith although I’d been baptized Catholic as a baby, supposedly raised Catholic, came up through the cutting edge modernism with V2. I made my first confession, first communion, and much later, confirmation, went to novus ordo ultra modernist, often experimental mass every Sunday or Saturday evening “get it over with” mass, all while knowing next to nothing. I believed in God the Father, Jesus the Son, was not knowledgeable about Mary. I knew by heart, the Our Father, Hail Mary, Grace before meals, and bits and snatches of other mass prayers in English. When very young, like ages 2-4, I have memories of Mass in Latin when visiting my grandparents out of state. There was something I liked about it, a spirit of awe, not just “smells and bells.” I even thought of becoming a nun because I liked their habits and thought they were holy. By 2nd or 3rd grade, the church had completely changed. I gave up the idea of being a nun because I didn’t see any nuns. Every week, there was something different. There was no sense of God’s presence. I thought that was because I had imagined it because I was so young. The full novus ordo was implemented the year of my first communion. Going to Mass became just a thing decent people did, each according to their religious traditions. I received Our Lord having never heard of the Real Presence, the word “transubstantiation,” that Catholicism was the only true religion. Going to Confession didn’t happen again until I was 47 years of age in 2005. I spent the years between 18 and 47 seeking God, seeking Truth, in Protestantism. Name the Protestant denomination, and I’ve been there, with the exceptions of the really weird stuff. No JWs, Mormons, Universalists, etc. At age 47 in 2005, I found myself amazed to be back in the Catholic Church, but not the Church I’d left as an 18 year old, the Church I remembered as a 2-4 year old. What I discovered is that I did not “lose the Faith,” rather, I’d been deliberately deprived of the religion that my baptism was to instill. It’s been a growing process ever since. I’m now 63 and involuntary retired. (I got fired and lost my license, my school provided apartment, my retirement fund by two years, health benefits, decades worth of classroom and personal materials, because I refused Dr. Fauxi’s magic 💉.) It is only since about last November that I learned how strictly the Church drew the line between Catholics and Protestants. So now, I need to know what I should do about a lifetime career in four different quasi Protestant schools. I know I did a lot of natural good, but so far as graces towards Heaven, do I have zero? Please advise me on what to do. Is there a proscribed way to rectify the matter? If so, I need to know it. It would seem to me that God would not have brought me thus far only to lose my soul. I’m too old and not in good enough health to start over in a Catholic school. I’ve visited Catholic schools, and can honestly say that the Protestant schools not only have much higher moral standards and are ahead by leaps and bounds academically. Please give me some guidance on this. The two priests with whom I raised the issue both told me not to worry about it, wouldn’t even let me confess it! 😢

I still would like some clarification on saying grace and bedtime prayers with protestants, because my father is a protestant and my family has always said grace and bedtime prayers with him. I am aware that engaging in protestant services is mortally sinful and have avoided participating in the services of the protestant side of my family, but I am unsure if grace and bedtime prayers would also be mortally sinful. My family eats meals together, and I'm not sure how I would go about not saying grace with him if it was the case.

@dorugoramon0518 Trent Horn wrote something about this in a post called ‘Some Clarity on Praying with Non-Catholics’. It seems there’s a difference between passive and active prayer, and praying in the presence of others rather than in communion with them. Saying an Our Father or other approved Catholic prayer seems to be ok… it’s a tricky one!

I went to a catechism class with SSPX and this very point came up. He said a group of protestants asked him to lead the prayer. So he did and said a hail Mary at the end. Of which they did not participate. He suggested you step in as the Catholic to lead the prayer and do as you would in the company of a Catholic. I may not be correctly understanding about Protestants using Catholic prayers. I attended a Methodist service, a Lutheran Service and an Anglican Service and they all use the exact prayers of consecration Catholics use. It sounded like it was lifted right out of our missal. I may be mistaken as these instances were a long time ago and may have even changed by now.
@dianedohman18073 ай бұрын
They say the words but are not ordained catholic priests and given the power to change the bread and wine into the actual body and blood of Christ . I went to the Lutheran church for many years and to them it’s a symbol not the real body and blood of Christ . Remember the last supper is also in the KJV of their bible.

Interesting.... I was put in situation where i "pray" with protestans (actually they pray for me) during that prayer i didnt join it because i was convinced that their prayers not in state of grace dont work. Some time later the Holy Spirit showed me that their prayers didn't work because i judged them, and rejected them.

I’ve found all kinds of stuff including money. There’s no evidence I was cursed by it! It wouldn’t generally occur to me something is cursed. If there’s something “off” about it, no, I’d just leave it. The only thing that comes to mind is a “dream catcher” hanging in a tree in a campsite I’d rented for my tent. I put it in the fireplace, dribbled some kerosene on it, and burned it. Nothing weird or scary happened. No demons shrieking, or gruesome beasts departing. I just knew they originated with Native American religions. Most people don’t use them in a religious manner, just as a decoration, but why take a chance?

The thing about Catholic things being used outside the church.... We use medals to remind us of holiness and ask for guidance of the ones depicted - They us crystals for power and healing, we use incense - they burn it at homes to cleanse their homes, we use candles - Yankee sells them for $30.00 a pop and they are used all the time, we pray -= they meditate... We call upon God - they call upon the universe (i don't understand that one. The universe is a place not a being) , we have scripture for wisdom - they use Buddha, we pray for direction - they read the stars and planets (that's ok for sailors!) Everyone wants peace of mind and searches for it vigorously but satan has replaced our things with his.

I think there should’ve been more depth to the conversation of praying or not praying with non-Catholics St. Alphonsus Liguori, a Catholic Bishop who said, “It is not permitted to be present at the sacred rites of infidels and heretics in such a way that you would be judged to be in communion with them” (Theologia Moralis). It is true divine law that prohibits active participation in non-Catholic rituals . . . and Vatican II’s declaration on ecumenism does not instruct believers to do that. It says: “Witness to the unity of the Church very generally forbids common worship to Christians, but the grace to be had from it sometimes commends this practice” The “common worship” being spoken of here should be understood as an endorsement of passive communion where attendees pray next to each other or share in a common, authorized prayer like the Our Father. Nothing in the Second Vatican Council contradicts earlier teachings that forbid Catholics from actively taking part in the unique aspects of non-Catholic worship services. And you see that the Church and its people state things as a man would but not of God. Trust in God and Jesus and just as Jesus obeyed the laws of the times do that with the Catholic Church. However, many Catholics will probably meet Jesus and walk right by him. Some of the last will be first and the first last.

@mgm153 the shame of this is that as a cradle Catholic of nearly 56 years, I never heard of this and there have been prayers with other religions, maybe not in their churches, but in general public prayers. Ecumenical prayers, even St. Pope John Paul II partook in. The Church does change, so I am thinking that is why the Ecumenical prayers are part of the evolving Church.

NEVER GIVE UP! My husband was a devout Christian when we married in the Catholic Church. He did not understand why Protestant believers did not believe in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist as stated in scripture- they took Everything else as fact. We met in a non-denominational charismatic church. I was hungry for God’s love. I was called a “holy roller” by my Catholic friends through my teenage years and early 20’s due to my devotion to the teachings of the Catholic Church. I NEEDED real friends who were committed to walking with God everyday. I found them in this non-denominational church. I finally began to believe that God loved me and wasn’t always disappointed in me. I always believed that God loved everyone else, but that He was disgusted and angry with me most of the time. (Years later, I discovered that this was more due to my parents’ relationship with me than with God’s.) I continued my work with Birthright for unborn children but stopped teaching CCD and singing at the guitar Mass. 18 years later, after I was diagnosed with cancer, I returned to the sacraments. I NEEDED the Holy Eucharist. We had 5 children at the time and my youngest was 5. 2 years later, my husband and 3 younger children came home to the Catholic Church. Within the following 2 years, our older 2 children received their sacraments. We both pray daily for our children and their families. (I know that my mother spent years praying and fasting for my return to the Catholic Church.) 4 of my children no longer practice their faith. Our hope is in God’s mercy and love for them. Our Blessed Mother encourages us to never give up on their souls. Prayers, fasting, the Holy Eucharist, and our daily devotions draw us closer to His Immaculate Heart. We are not alone. ❤

And how does Fr. r reconcile this text from Jone: 126. b) Passive attendance at non-Catholic services is allowed for a good reason, e.g., due to one's position or for politeness, provided the danger of perversion and scandal is precluded (C. 1258). Passive assistance implies that no part is taken in praying, singing, etc. Under these restrictions it is permissible to attend a heretical Baptism, a marriage or funeral service conducted in a non-Cath-olic church. It is sometimes lawful to attend a non-Catholic service through mere curiosity, if the sect has long been established in the place. ~ A servant may also accompany his or her employers to a non-Catholic service if asked to do so. Soldiers and prisoners may attend such services if commanded to do so for the sake of order, but not if ordered in odium fidei.

Hello Father, what if my daughter is marrying a man who isa student of the Jehova Witness group? My parish priest told me she will be in great sin and that group is a cult? He is not baptised.

They can join you in prayer, you can lead them....the issue is the converse.

Maybe try this: click "more" in the grey description box below the video. After it expands, go towards the bottom, click "Show transcript". To the right of the screen, the transcript will show. It may not be a good transcript (auto-generated by KZbin), but you can copy/paste the text into a translator.

I really wish you wouldn't show the image of the evil face and eyes on this video. It's very disturbing on a Catholic video. I can't look at these pictures.

No gratuitous images of evil are necessary. We are familiar with the subject matter. I don't listen to this lecture to see images of evil.
