In this video I explore the legendary Mazda MX5. Or as it's commonly referred to across the pond, the 'Miata'.
It is fair to say since the latest ND Mazda MX5 came out it has been another runaway success for the Japanese automotive giant. However, this really should be no surprise. As Mazda, had already created three widely successful cars before the ND MX5. These being the: NA, NB and NC Mazda MX5's.
To date the Mazda MX5 is the world's best selling two seater sports car in automotive history! Now this is quite the accolade to possess: with over one million cars rolling off the production line since its launch in 1989. And since I own a Mazda MX5 MK3 as my own personal car, I felt it was necessary to try and ascertain why this tiny car became such a fabled icon within the automative world.
In my review I track back the origins of the MX5, discussing the likes of the MG T, Jaguar XK120, Austin Healey and Triumph TR2.
Make sure you watch the video to the end so you watch me destroy my tyres. (All smokey stuff performed on private property)

Old British roadsters are simply gorgeous. The seating positions are perfect, with a minimalist windscreen placed very close to the driver- sublime. I guess safety concerns would preclude this on modern cars. With that said, I have an NC with which I have a driving obsession with. 70,000 miles in two years, and I still can't wait to drive it. This is with having owned two NBs that I must have put hundreds of thousands of miles on.

ND has many issues and mine has been rather disappointing. Mazda service and customer support in Aus is just the worst. So bad that when we needed a second car we crossed Ford and mazda off the options and happily went with Kia. mazda have a very bad attitude but I guess a second hand one, you don't pay for a fake warranty and you can service yourself.

Hi, I have a 2007 Mazda MX-5 NC - my front fog lights have just been installed, but they come on automatically with the main lights/side lights, is there any way to turn them off? They are yellow, so is it legal?

They usually come stock and have a switch on the indicator lever. If yours were installed aftermarket then they are probably wired to the headlights automatically. I doubt it's illegal, and who cares! I keep mine on all the time :-)

You will need the upgraded left hand steering-column stalk control to match your fog light installation. In the UK it is not legal to drive with your fog lamps on unless visibility is reduced to less than 100 metres. I think it may also fail MOT regs' if you can't turn them off?

The british roadster is not as reliable as the MX 5. The lotus elan inspired design quite noticeable.
