The Ford 4.6l isn't one of the worst v8 engines. Its unstressed & underpowered in many applications, but it was used in several sports cars making good power. Its quite possibly the most reliable engine in the last 30 yrs.

this. The earlier ones seem better though. As an ex-limo operator, having had one of these and a later 2005, the 2005 used to shred serpentine belts for fun and also ate ball joints. This model though, reliable as anything, good enough on fuel, drove very well.

The 4.6 modular is arguably one of the best V8 engines Ford released. If it was "the worst", police departments would have ditched the Vics right away, nor would Koenigsegg use the block as the base for their engines. Can't forget the 4v 4.6 in the Marauder either.

Steelies are cheaper, stronger and easier to repair than alloys which makes them the the obvious choice for a police or taxi vehicle. No one said the 4.6 is the greatest engine of all time, or even the greatest V8, but it's undeniably one of the best Ford V8s. The fact that the Crown Vic was the standard for US police and taxis for a long time and that many are still in use today does certainly prove they are made to last. A US police cruiser needs to be a strong vehicle able to take a few hits and continue a pursuit. The Crown Vic is exactly that. It's not the pinnacle of engineering but it is the very best the Americans could come up with. Lastly, ditch the attitude and you might make a few friends.

I think it would be cool to anti-stretch this limo by cutting it in thirds and welding it back together so that it would look like a regular Lincoln Town Car again. Super comfy and truly practical when they are stock length, yet they still have tonnes of room in the boot left for storing and hauling anything from coil packs to full sized transmissions. Plus maybe the sparks from cutting and welding would make a cool thumb nail to pull people in.

I also daily drove a turn-of-the-century Town Car limo for a few months. It sucked. I'm tall, and because of the sunroof (which lowers the headliner) and partition (which forces the driver's seat more upright), I literally had to lean into the middle seat at all times while driving to be able to fit. Got the best fuel mileage of any car I've ever owned, though. Since it was so cramped and so fuel-efficient, I called it my little econobox. I finally ended up trading it for a regular Lincoln Town Car, which was a _huge_ upgrade over the limo.
