Living with Cystic Fibrosis - Lauren's Story

This is a story about a girl who grew up with a disease that was supposed to hold her back. A disease that was supposed to limit the things she could do. A disease that was supposed to be a death sentence.
That disease is Cystic Fibrosis and this is Lauren's Story.
Lauren Gould, a loving wife, mother, daughter, friend, coach, and gym owner has had CF her entire life. She has beat the odds and never believed in limitations.
Lauren once said, "Don't dream your life, live your dream." That is the message that she instills in her Varsity Cheer athletes as well as all the athletes that cheer and train at her gym, Mania Training Facility.

I just turned 13 years old and have had CF since I was born. It is hard since I'm the only person In my whole entire school who has it. When I take my enzyme tablets , and my nebulisers, people look at me weird and ask alot of questions which make me uncomfortable. I've been watching alot of vidoes about how people deal with CF. It makes me cry all the time, and it has given me depression. I'm always praying to God that I don't die so young. It's scary to say and think, "That's how i may die." Because no one wants to know how they're gonna die. But thankyou for making the video, (Its very late but oh well)! It has made me feel alot better about it. Although It is still in my life, I hope it will make me feel less insecure about a disorder I should be proud of for fighting.

You have strong family support as well as others in your community. I don't have cystic fibrosis. But I do have congestive heart failure. On October 3rd 2013 I had a triple bypass at 59 yrs old. April 2019, I needed some oxygen becausei experienced shortness of breath. I had a pacemaker put in on may 20, 2020.. I'm currently 68 yrs old. I'm still ticking like a timex watch. Stay strong

I was diagnosed with CF just 3 months and 2 days ago. At the time I was 19, but now I am 20. The first month and a half I didn't talk about it, but when I got back to college I started telling the faculty and they have been supportive. I've joined several new groups and active in all of them.

For me some days are bad where I cough all day and some days are good where I hardly do. Other than a weezy and productive cough I really don't have much to worry about as of now. I didn't start showing symptoms until I was 13 and they just said I had sinus infection for years and years.

I was never that lucky. I was always so sick in Junior High and High School that my grades suffered and towards the end I was threatened to be kicked out of school. I was told I had two mutated genes, but one gene had two mutations. I really wish I didn't have it, because I would have probably been better at stuff in high school, but I have it anyway. I feel like it takes up a lot of my life now.

I could for awhile, but the last year or two I couldn't do anything really. I was always tired and didn't want to expend the energy. Where I live few people know about CF, and I think even fewer care. I know my PE teachers in high school didn't care and just told me to run anyway. I've never actually talked to someone with CF before. I can't find a job or anything.

I'm pretty sure my little sister doesn't have it. My dad just blames my mom for it. My dad isn't the brightest. I have managed a fair bit myself. I'm in my second year of college and my major is Health Sciences. My dream is to work in a gym. My teacher was just fresh out of college at 24, so he didn't care. At 78% oxygen or so the most I could run was about an 1/8th or half a lap around our ball field. Do you have any videos of you singing?

This is very inspirational I am 12 and was diagnosed when I was 2 weeks old I have never been shy about it. I would say the hardest thing is that I have friends with CF and I can't interact with them. And when I'm around them I have to be really careful.

I never knew of this disease until Julie Mott's body was stolen from a funeral home. I don't want to even imagine who stole her body. I hope the person will receive more than a class A misdemeanor as I suspect that the person will violate the corpse.

It is a genetic disorder. You must have two CF genes (one from your mother and one from your father) to have CF.
