Thank you so much for this. My daughter died from cf in 1992 when she was 12. She was born in 1980 before the cf gene was found and before the vest and vitamins and everything. But I wanted to say that thought I watch other cf youtubers, they never have their parents on to ask them how they felt when they found out their child had cf. At the time we found out about our first born daughter, Katrina she was 3 1/2 years old. She started complaining of stomaches and we had her at children's hospital every night for 2 weeks. They kept telling me nothing was wrong with her and that she might being complaining to me to get attention. We were at our wits end to say the least. Then my mom said Katrina was having symptoms of cf. Back in the 60's my mom's friend's daughter died from cf. And, it was at this same time that the book Alex had just come out so I was reading that and I was sure our Katrina had the disease. So I called my pediatrician to say I wanted her tested and he said he did not believe she had it because she was always so healthy, but lo and behold she came out positive. We were devastated to say the least. At that time we only had the library and there we no information about cf. The only thing we could find was that Jimmy the Greek (he was a sports guy) had five children that died from cf. And the cf foundation send us information that gave us no hope. No one else in the family had cf that we knew of. My mother in law actually accused me of giving the disease to my daughter even though we told her her son was a carrier, too. Later, we had them tested and it turns out my husband's father is a carrier. Anyway, when you mom is talking about finding out about you having cf...I'm right there with her. It's terrifying finding out that news of your brand new child. I feel every word she is saying. I cradled Katrina and cried and cried. The poor girl probably thought I was crazy, but my heart broke so bad. And living with the idea that she was gonna have a short life; the doctors giving us no hope at all. Again, thanks to your mom.

Your mom is awesome! I bet you have got to share so much more thanks to the CF. My mum(I am from England) has never really got over the death of my brother David. He was 21 and it was cancer, but I am sure he wouldn't have wanted mum to cry herself to sleep for ten years. If you get the chance let mom know you want her to move on when she can. On the plus side Claire, you can not experience your own death and as our universe has multiple histories, you will live to be an OAP. Just poor old mum will see you die in a lot of histories. Anyway your both amazing people, thanks for sharing your story

There seems to be so much trash on KZbin but videos like this should be what KZbin is all about, sharing experiences and growing as a result. Excellent and amazing channel and great videos, not just the content but also how you present it. Well done.

Hello Claire! It is so nice to see you back with an all new video! I was quite worried for a while not seeing anything from you but you're back and you're ok!! I too live with a debilitating chronic illness, its called Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. I spend all of my days confined to my bed writing poems, making videos for my KZbin Channel, hoping I can bring some kind of joy or hope to someone's life. You are a very big inspiration to me and I really enjoy your videos. You always bring a smile to my face and I would like to thank you for that. I do not have many things in my life to smile about, but I do try to keep myself thinking positive. Anyway, be as well as you can and I look forward to your next video! `Peace and Love, *The Message*

nobody used google 18 years ago, it was all yahoo and altavista
@Ellecram8 жыл бұрын
Google with a lowercase g is now used primarily as a verb which indicates a general internet search. Google with a capital G is the actual name of the organization. There are many examples of this word usage evolution in the English language. A few that come to mind are Kleenex, Band-Aid, and Clorox.
@vald76777 жыл бұрын
Ellecram to me at least... google is a specific search engine... I don't say google for everything at all.. I don't use any other search engine now, but if I was referring to a search engine i used in the past tense I would just say search engine, not google, but that's just me. Maybe it's just because when I was learning computers I knew the search engines I used then are definitely not the search engines I use now. When I refer to social media I refer to the specific one... I don't use Facebook for an all encompassing term... because I know I used MySpace and livejournal before Facebook was even a thing
@vald76777 жыл бұрын
Ellecram also the brands you've mentioned such as bandaid, Clorox, Kleenex, have been around for almost 100 years at this point... and language does evolve fairly rapidly these days, as an anthropologist who's studied the evolution of language, I would say for the term google to become a colloquial term in regards to an overall generalization is a bit too soon. Yes I say to people... well google it... I specifically mean google when I say it because I know bing and yahoo don't deliver the same results.
