Same. It’s been 14 years. No meds. Not hypo or hyper. I learned my nodules were due to inflammation attacking my thyroid, not due to hormonal imbalance of the actual gland. In some cases the thyroid is the victim to underlying stress or inflammation but it can still work properly with nodules or goiter.

I had the partial surgery due to a goiter and lost my voice for a month (paralyzed vocal chord). 6 years later I developed nodules on the other half. But I'm so glad I kept the other half of my thyroid because it forced me to get to the root of my thyroid issues. These nodules and goiters don't just appear for no reason. I know for me, they were tied to my emotional health and long-time anxiety. I fixed my issues at the root (nutrition, lots of leafy greens, lower sugar, healthy fats, selenium) and the nodules shrunk. I now have my other half and my thyroid levels are normal. Often our bodies are crying out to us to address things in our lives, and that's what the thyroid issue was for me. The thyroid is the heart of our emotional well being. So even though I had part of it removed, until I removed what CAUSED the inflammation, that's why I was prone to nodules on the other side. When our inflammation gets too high, our bodies can attack our thyroids. It's so important to understand WHY these things develop.

Totally appreciate your comment. It reminds me to exam and adjust my lifestyle all over again. After removing my half thyroid 6 months ago luckily without any complications, I start letting my guard down and talking everything granted again. This is a warm awakening. Thank you.

@@Rosemary987-65 That is so awesome! I'm still learning and growing but it is very freeing and it's also more confirming when I keep meeting people who admit they also had emotional issues and thyroid problems. They are definitely connected! Someone once explained that when you bottle up your emotions and keep your guard up, you store the negative energy in the body. In our case, our thyroid gets impacted, since it's the emotional center. Makes so much sense! I used to think stuff just happened. Not anymore. It's freeing to know we have some level of control. All the best to you!

Inflammation? So how do we keep that down?
@quickpstuts412
@quickpstuts412 4 ай бұрын
@@reflectionsinthebible3579 Stress and too much processed food are the primary cause of all autoimmune disease. Fix those two things and sleep well. Your body will thank you. Most women I talk to with thyroid issues admit to having emotional stress or anxiety. Get to the root of it or the problems don’t go away completely, even if you have surgery. The thyroid is a victim of underlying inflammation, not the main contributor. It’s reacting to inflammation.

@pamelsturner2825 Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I am aware of this procedure for the nodule rather than surgery but my nodule is classed as U4 (U5 is cancerous) & they have tried 3 times to biopsy it. To remove it is the only way for them to be able to give it a proper check for cancer & to remove the possible risk of cancer in the future. I have made the decision based on the risks & future peace of mind. But thank you for caring, we all have to look out for each other ❤❤

I had 4 FNAs too a couple of weeks ago. A total of 17 needles in my neck. Wasn't expecting that many but it was very tolerable. I am supposed to have half my thyroid removed but it's not an emergency. One of the nodules is huge and they said it was benign but really not 100 percent positive until it's removed and sent over to the lab again for full pathology report.

I was told i had to have my thyroid removed or take radioactiv iodine. Both options where not exceptable to me. I found ethanol ablation. 12 years later im still fine. There is a woman on u tube who is named its me jen again. Its all about nodules. The procedure that i had done 12 years ago is finally recognised and starting to become covered by insurance. Hi Noelle, I live in South Africa. The sun is always shining here and there is always the risk of developing skin cancer if you have a light skin. I developed a growth on the lower eye lid of my right eye. I do not know if it is cancer or just a benign growth but I went on a high nutrition diet for about two months and the growth have shrunk noticeably. I would like to share the diet with you. The soup Ingredients: - two handfuls of Chopped broccoli, one chopped onion (purple), two bags of green tea, two pinches of mixed herbs, two sticks of cut celery, Two handfuls of frozen and crushed spinach or kale, half a table spoon of crushed garlic, Three shakes of black pepper, seven shakes of turmeric, two tablespoons full of apple cider vinegar (with the mother), one bag of white onion powder soup for flavour, a hand full of cooked red speckled beans and a handful of cooked mince meat. Just add all the ingredients in a pot, add boiling water and switch the stove on high till the water boils. Then lower the heat until the water simmer, Let the soup simmer for an hour. The soup is now ready. I would only drink water in the morning. At 12h00 I would start eating the soup. There will be about two helpings that you can eat in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. I also ate a fruit salad every day in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. (Note: Apparently turmeric reduces the effect of some chemotherapy drugs and thus should not be taken during chemotherapy.) During the rest of the week I would also eat food that contains vitamin D like avocado’s, mushrooms, liver and eggs in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. It seems to be working for me, maybe it will also work for you. I pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that you will stay cancer free. Amen. I will say I deal with low iron off and on. I thought maybe the removal of my nodules might fix that. Apparently not. Recently I started dealing with excessive heart palpitations again; I’m also getting constipated these days, dealing with sinus issues constantly lately, and for about the past two months my memory has declined. But no matter what happens, keep in mind that this is a very common procedure and I know plenty of people who have no thyroid but take meds and are doing really well. So try not to worry. The normal weight of a healthy thyroid is 10 g and the left side of my thyroid removed weighed 30 g. I have been healing well and I am awaking every am not sick at my stomach anymore. I have to go back in 3 months for more extensive examination of the right side to see if I get to keep it. I hope I do but I won't be afraid if I have to have a completion. This is my exact situation right now. My results are inconclusive but the cells are mutating inside one of the nodules on my thyroid. The mutated cells are identified as Hurthle cell Neoplasm. Next week I will schedule my surgery to have half my thyroid removed. There will be a pathologist there, so when my doctor removes that lobe, he/she will determine whether there is cancer in my thyroid. If yes, they’ll have to remove the other lobe as you explained. My doctor told me it’s even rarer for men (I am one) to have nodules, let alone pathologies, so it’s all super perplexing. I’m hoping/praying for a positive outcome like yours. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Bless you. I’m going to share this video with my family. Can you tell me how long the recovery was after the surgery?

Chris, it was certainly scary when I had half of mine removed at the end of 2019. Same situation as yours. Surgery will go well, recovery will be about 2 to 3 weeks. Take it easy!! I had a bit of a complication with my vocal chords for about 2 months after my surgery, I had a whisper of a voice, that was the hardest. But this is rare, nevertheless my voice returned. The scar on my neck is a bit sensitive, considering you nerves are cut, etc. I don't take meds, live the same as before. Good luck with the results. If it makes a difference, I was 39 at the time of my surgery. Cheers!

Hopefully your shoulder is back to normal now, it's been two years + since this video so hopefully that 'vacuum shoulder' isn't still lingering but if so, hopefully your hubby is still giving you a little s*** about it, lol. My surgery is Tuesday morning, it's interesting that they found nothing and that lots of people in the comments had the same thing happen, knowing it was nothing after the fact. In my case the biopsy showed cancer, papillary thyroid carcinoma to be specific (left side only), so, it has to come out. I'm just watching some videos to get ready so it was nice to hear that things went good for you and at the time of this video, things were back to normal.

My blood work was fine when I had a follow up a couple months after but more recently my TSH levels skyrocketed so I had to start taking levothyroxine. I have another blood test in April so we'll find out then how the medication is working. Other than that nothing has changed for me, I can't say I have any of the common side effects of the removal or the medication at this point but I'm just 10 months out from the procedure. @@americanpancakelive Hey Pancake, sorry to hear the news about your wife, it's been 4 month post op, how is she doing? In terms of a target rate I just had bloodwork done last week and I was at about 4.4 which he said was a little high, he wants it below 4. I did voluntarily go off of the medication for several weeks, I won't get into why, nothing bad though but before that I think I was around 2.3 which he was happy with. I'm back on the medication now and since the start he's had me on 25 MCG. About 1 year ago my levels were high at that dosage so he told me to take (2) 25 MCG pills on Saturday and Sunday, that ultimately brought it down to about 2.3 as I said above so he was good keeping me on that plan, 1 pill M-F and 2 on the weekends. Hopefully this information helps, all the best to you and your wife.

@@doseofsarcasm4895 thanks for the timely response. She is doing alright I suppose but it is kind of confusing because her surgeon advised that the target rate should have been .04 which seems crazy. HER current endocrinologist is wanting her to be between 100 and 200 and she is currently at 2.62 so he modified her schedule she takes 50 daily and 100 on Sunday. We both decided that ultimately you have to listen to one guy (right?) so she has faith in this endocrinologist. Thanks a ton for the info - it make us feel better.

Hi Noelle, this is a fantastic reassuring story and thank you for sharing. I hope you continue to do well. Myself preparing for my half removed here in Australia at the end of the month. No option than surgery. Having a huge nodule TRADS 3 77x48x45 mm (externally appearing benign and confirmed through FNA) in my left lobe which has been causing compressive effects. Not too concerned about the surgery itself but more terrified with after effects, such as medication need, weight gain, fatigue, etc. My thyroid function and hormone levels are normal even with this nodule. I am the most terrified about the aspect of not being able to maintain my exercise level, e.g. HIIT, cycling and heavy weight training after the partial thyroid removal. I have read many horror stories. How soon were you able yo get back to your exercise routine after the surgery? All the best to you.

Did your calcium levels impacted after the surgery?

My doctor told me my levels were normal. I didn't ask her specifically about calcium, but I assume if they were low she would have told me? That said, I do take calcium supplements now as I approach menopause.

If you can avoid meds do it. I had half of mine out in Dec of 2016 and the meds have been a roller coaster ever since. The synthetic meds caused terrible skin reactions for me and the natural ones are always getting recalled/ are hard to get. I’m here looking for natural ways to get myself off meds and recommend that for anyone, don’t put yourself at the mercy of the medical industry.
