Living with Stargardt Disease: Louie McGee

Hi I have stargardt's disease diagnosed when I was 18 but I knew around the age of 14 my sight was not right. I am 40 now and have started the process of taking part in a stem cell trial here in the UK, all going well I will have the surgery September 23rd. Although this trial is not for my benefit I felt compelled to take part and hope there is a huge success so younger suffers such as yourself have a chance to fight this horrible disease. I guess my biggest worry is the immunosuppressants drug I will have to take but toher than that I am kind of excited. Good luck for the future young man Kris

I got stargardts when I was around 14' so excited about the stem cell trials being done. But can't help feel scared about the risks, it would be devastating if it had the slightest adverse effect.

Hi,I have Stadgardt Disease diagnosed when I was 13.Now I'm 16 years.I was on the treatment of stem cells in Kiev who are not given the results.But I do not lose hope.I try to live a relaxed and healthy.We must not lose hope.I'm glad I've heard other people's experiences.If someone wants to stay in touch asking for email.Sorry for the spelling errors..Good luck!
