I to love my focus RS always dreamed of owning one and now I’m living the dream. Don’t intend of selling my RS anytime soon, had it for just over a year now. My dad retired, working for Ford Belfast plant so was lucky enough to use his privilege card during purchase. Whenever you come to selling your RS I must admit I’ll miss your updates with regards to upgrades for your video clips have eased my mind when it comes to knowing what I wanted, purchasing the Mountune induction kit, mudflaps, uprated turbo valve and eventually also purchasing the Dreamscience imap that I absolutely love! Appreciate all your video clips testing these out probably wouldn’t have bought them for you lol but no doubt definitely made my car a hell of a lot quicker! I always loved the idea of having an RS and getting up to to Scotland etc like they did on The Grand Tour, it would make great content.

Just approaching two years for me too. I’ve had the FPM375 since October 2016. And the various bits of plumbing to go 400 since August 2018. Not pulled the trigger on that yet though because of a tiny persistent oil leak they’re struggling to fix post-recall. There’s some videos somewhere of the Mountune V3 sounds inside the car and later some revving after I got the sports cat fitted too. I’ll try to dig them out for you mate.

But had i not had a child im sure my rs would have been a 5 or 6 year car. As i did and still have my cheap fiesta for the daily grind.

Great car, great video. Can’t wait to see which exhaust you’re going for. Picked up my M140i in October and it puts a smile on my face every time I’m in it. Love the understated look of it and a beast when you want it to be. Had a bit of a play today with a AMG A45, I lost my bottle, but most cars in our league (hot hatch etc) are only as good as the driver, because in the real world 4.2s of the AMG and my 4.6 doesn’t make a huge difference, 😆

Car Focused yes, M performance cars will look a bit different such as dual/quad exhausts and the engine badge. Most of the time your sitting inside the cockpit and knowing your driving a beast then it can surprise other drivers when you put the foot down. In addition, you can make the car unique by buying genuine parts from BMW such as spoiler, side skirt or alcantara steering wheel. BMW is the only brand which makes fast diesels and sound as nice.

I really want to like this car , having owned the mk2 rs I thought that was the most rs ford going it was bonkers especially in ultimate green . But this to me in grey is just mah ! It’s almost inline for me with the sporty Audi’s , it’s like a sporty business car . If you was stuck in traffic you wouldn’t stand out at all , I liked the fact that mine had heads turning where ever I went . Kids , adults and the odd animal would notice it . This could rock up at a petrol station with no one even realising its thee let alone it being an rs . Ultimately I think this is the reason firs has stopped making the rs . This car with heavy American influences has killed the rs .

Car Focused almost proves my point , sorry to put a downer on the mk3 . But would you say having owned the mk3 and now mk2 which do you honestly prefer ? Mk2 is obviously fwd and it’s way to much power on the front wheels , that was a slight annoying part for me , but you soon get used to that. Other than that for me there was no other down side. I don’t a few jobs , like getting rid of the church mouse( recirc valve) upgraded the exhaust system , rad , but other wise I kept it standard . Just gutted I still don’t have it 😭

Great 2yr retrospective on the car and thanks for that. I have owned my RS for almost two years as well and have almost 30k miles on the car. It sounds like we share a similar car ownership habit of changing cars on a short schedule. As a result of this the RS is my 65th car (I am 60 so spread out over many years), and of those various cars most were performance oriented cars such as M cars, S cars, EVO’s, turbo Subaru’s, countless GTI’s, R32 Golf etc, I find the RS sits in the top 3 of those 65 when it comes to driving fun that I have owned. That said I still get the itch for something new every 1.5-3 years. As a past M car owner I am always looking at BMW and recently went to the dealership to take a look at the M2 as I prefer smaller cars. Really nice but after spending time thinking about the differences I had to tell the salesman that there just wasn’t enough upside for me to make that change. That’s a testament to the staying power of the RS and that’s in totally stock trim (ok I do have Ford Motorsports CF shift knob and apple CarPlay upgrade 🙂). I usually mod my cars fairly quickly but the head gasket issue held me back. That hasn’t affected my love for this car because it’s still great to drive in stock form and now with the HG issues fixed on my car mods are ahead

Can you elaborate more on your Oil Leak, because I have/had one took it to the dealership twice and the last time they told me they replaced the Headgasket (2nd one they installed) but when I was talking to them, I said oh so it’s leaking from the block and head, the gasket. And they said well it has to be there baize they tested the compression exc so it seems like they’re guessing that’s where it’s leaking from. So if you can elaborate that would be great.

Rs is the better car but in the states, the ST is the more practical everyday car. The reason is you can still put in regular 87 gas if you are just doing regular commuting where RS is 91 and above.
