It's a shame he's so very blasé about not seeing his children for over 10 years, it didn't seem to upset him at all. I agree with him about the money side of things, but shirking your responsibilities, especially at his age is very selfish and shows his conceited personality. A good point was made that he relies on other people who earn money to support him, so inadvertently he does use money. Something tells me this man wouldn't fair so well living in a cave, making his own clothes from animal skins, hunting and foraging. And in my opinion, there's no such thing as true freedom

I respect Arthur’s honesty and his ability to stand by his beliefs. Everyone has to make their own decisions about how they want to live their lives. I personally don’t think money itself is the issue anymore than alcohol by itself is an issue or sex is an issue. However, debt becomes an issue, greed and committing crimes for money becomes an issue, alcohol addiction becomes an issue etc. I wouldn’t want to be reliant upon family, friends or shelters for my survival as the stress of that would far outweigh any stresses related to earning money. He may some interesting points though and I wish him well

@T'Alyssa: You don't get it. He identifies as a monk. His choice of lifestyle comes from a place of deeper understanding of existence. It is a place beyond all of the worldly expectations of society. This includes the social contract of money, and all other social contracts as well; one of which is the expectation (by society) that a man be present in his children's lives. David said "there is a good reason why monks shouldn't have children". That reason is because the monk cannot change his understanding of reality, and therefore cannot operate within the construct of the society that this understanding reveals to be riddled with false truths. A monk realizes that in the grand scheme of existence, he is obligated only to himself. All other obligations are false truths constructed by society. Shame from abandonment is a false truth that has emerged from within society. And just as that concept emerged from the dynamics of people living together, it can also vanish into nothing, because it is after all, just a concept. It is nothing.

Yes, our monetary system is absolutely corrupt and the paper and credit systems holds very little value and it's up to us, to change that. It's, because we agreed on what we were told about its value. And also, it's what we do with our money. Some people help people that aren't as luck as them and there's people that are so greedy and will do anything to keep it in their family. There's a great video on how real freedom will not be achieved unless the monetary system is abolished. It speaks so much truth! Also how civilization is programmed to look at money for survival. And if we changed our out look on humanity and start teaching a different way of life, we don't need the monetary system to have a much healthier and happier relationship with each other! But that's will take us demanding changes in our society system and all the propaganda that is push upon each of us. Look at the Federal Reserve and how it was formed. Printing money with absolutely no value behind it. Which was passed when Congress was on Christmas vacation and had very little push back by the sick greedy bankers, back in 1913 on Jykell Island. Our politicians can change that, but don't!!! And they make huge profits on interest from nothing. Only the values people were programmed and we agreed upon and the evil greedy corruption of mindless rich families is keeping humanity down as slaves for their liking. But what's sad is, his kids could be better off if they had a dad in their life to teach them about honest true values. Like, money and it's true worth. Parenting and real love for all life is how we can start to change and save our existence here on this amazing planet, we all call home. I'm not a religious person, but Jesus in the Romans court, turned over the taxes collectors table. There is a better way to life, without the monetary values, but like I said, it's will take us all to wake up and change our core values, we were taught. Maybe one day! Be Well.
@fazole
@fazole 2 жыл бұрын
With respect, you are little off on the story of Jesus overturning the tables. He did that in the Jewish Temple because moneychangers were profiting in cheating the people. However, Jesus, when asked if the people should pay taxes to Rome, he said "Render unto Caesar, what is Caesar's and render unto God what is God's" Jesus wasn't concerned about Earthly matters like this.

You can interpret Nostradamus the way you like but I think the choice we have to make before 2023 is, to question whether this 3000+ year intenvention (money) realy was a good idea. @davidleitch2298
@davidleitch2298 2 жыл бұрын
Nah, Jesus didn't say pride was the worst. He said the 'love of money is the root of all evil'. What he did say though, was that all sin was forgivable, including blasphemy against him, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven, either in this life or the life to come....so I'm guessing the unpardonable sin is the worst. That aside. Really enjoyed your interview. After 2 broken marriages (one mutual didn't get on, the other, she had an affair and fell pregs to him), I've took so many emotional and financial hits I realise we are in a greed and money driven existence. I'm just tired man ya know? No interest in this material rat race anymore. Very attracted to simple, communal living. We're on the cusp of a world wide economic collapse and potential world war. You're already well adept In the lifestyle that others who wouldn't are about to be launched into against their will. I ask you to remain humble and be there for those that weren't there for you when it befalls them. Teach them/us how to survive. Teach humility. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. I'd warn you against pride also, when you find yourself elevated in this existence others are about to unwillingly find themselves thrown into

You do have free will. You choose your path. For example, I studied science and could have majored in anatomy and become a surgeon. Instead, I studied environmental science and became a permaculture farmer. I would have been happy in either path. This path has less cash, but my life is still full of joy. I had a wealthy cousin who provided me with the finances to own my own farm and my two sons spent their teenage years here, before moving into town to have their own life, find work and so on. We are still in regular contact, though, by phone and that they visit every few weeks. It is a shame that this man is cut off from his children, both he and they are missing out on each other’s company and perspective on life. I choose to live frugally because I can see that cash is in he process of going away and as much as possible, I try to do without it. It isn’t easy, though.

@Hatrackman This is so.. HOWEVER... unless one has conquered The 'false' Ego and has reached Enlightenment the current reality one's dualistic mind creates for them will be their only reality. It can't be helped. Enlightenment is NOT something the mind chooses.. in fact... whatever the mind THINKS the non-dual State is... will never be it. The unenlightened Man THINKS he needs things. An Enlightened Man KNOWS he IS the THING he needs. It is true that there is no ACTUAL Free Will.... HOWEVER.. the mind creates for us the EXPERIENCE of free will. They are NOT the same thing. We are ONLY truly free when we have Transcended the mind and REALIZED THAT which is the SOURCE of mind... pure Consciousness / Awareness ITSELF In that moment One Realizes that Creator & Created are ONE and the same. There is no "Other" at all. Until one is able to Transcend the non-local/non-physical dualistic mind.. they will never grasp the non-dual state. This is what those Sadguru's such as Jesus, Krishna, The Buddha, Jnaneshwar, Yogananda... and other such rare BEings were/are all about. They all understood they were simply different FORMS of the Same, all inclusive ONE... AND as Grace Bestowers had the ability to AWAKEN and eventually ENLIGHTEN those who are ready. Grace / Shakti ... the Revealing power of God / Pure Consciousness is the KEY to everything. It reveals that we NEED nothing... because we ARE THAT ... which has become Everything. Ironically... Jesus of Nazareth is far FAR Greater than ANY religion teaches... and WE are far greater than the mind could possibly imagine. PS.. Do not trust the mind or the senses... they lie like hell... seriously. Think Matrix.

I feel sad for him, in an empathetic way. I can imagine a younger guy who made some mistakes, fell short of his own expectations, and when faced with the choice of integrating the lessons or protecting the ego, starting building a defensive story. Before you realize, less-than-true stories told to defend ego, fester into an inconsistent worldview that morphes to excuse and justify any and all choices.

@Heretic I agree, I don't mean to assert anything, which is why I used "I can imagine" rather than "I'm sure" or something similar. Perhaps I inadequately prefaced my reaction, but my comment was intended to be a representation of my own thoughts, not an explanation or assertion of fact.

Because he chooses a different way of living it may inspire people he comes in to contact with to change the way they live. And that is a good thing. Great interview guys 🙂

Why shouldn’t we use money? Just look around you, there’s so much suffering in the world as a consequence of people requiring money. Starving children, the homeless population, violence and prisons.. it’s all mostly a consequence of requiring money to be alive

America has more people in prison than all other countries in the world. When you start making prisons a private enterprise, laws typically change to put more people in them to increase the 'work force'. Awful state of affairs. No we don't need money but very few of us have the skills required to live without it, or the environment to live off the land

David Leitch and if you have money you can commit a crime and pay to get t out of it, most of the time unless it’s very serious… if you’re poor and can’t pay bail, we’ll tough luck.. @@Trialsfan100 I agree. Once upon a time, I was in a well paying job, beautiful wife, nice house up a mountain. One day she cheated and fell pregs. Marriage over. It's hard to motivate in a tough job when there is no purpose. No kids. No house....so, I ditched the job and went with one with less responsibility, less hours (less money). Screw the money. I gave this worldly life more than one good crack. Now....I'm slowly easing out of the rat race. No mortgage, considering ditching full time nursing for agency... less hours, more pay. I value quality time over money. I hate money tbh. Was never good at it. Anyway. As long as its hurting noone, do what needs be to keep your sanity. Its laughable that other people are offended you have opted out of their system. It frightens them. Stuff their acceptance of you. As for me, I'll do what God expects of me....and gradually ease out of this money driven nonsense.

David Leitch I love to travel and explore, the idea of being in one place for the rest of my life I find rather depressing. I live in the U.K., it’s cold and wet, not nearly as interesting as Asia. Need money for that though, no way to travel around the world without it. I lived in Asia for nearly 10 years but had to move back to U.K. because of covid… I am not surprised so many people in this country suffer with mental health problems, it just feels oppressive.

Change the word "money" to "cash". Very rarely do any of us use money. Interesting stream which I believe the guest has many valid points but the bottom line is the growing inequality is an effect of cash ownership, sadly a small proportion of society has a constantly growing proportion of the wealth which in turn makes the majority poorer, the net effect is to make it constantly more difficult to live in a legal framework.

Money is merely "something" you "spend" to obtain something. For example, physical energy is the "money" you spend in order to reach up and pluck an apple from a tree, or bend over and pick it up from the ground. If you lack the energy/money to do it on your own, you will need to rely on the energy or money of others to do it for you. Those who do it for you without expecting anything in return for the energy/money they spent are the epitomy of Jesus.
