What a wonderful video. Nice to hear what the locals think of the foreign tourists in KL.
@Yasin_Affandi7 күн бұрын
In my case, I truly enjoy watching all the foreign tourists that visited KLCC and made videos in KLCC. It has made my challenging working days with the KLCC project worth all the while with unique experience from foundation in 1993 to full completion of the KLCC first phase project in 1998, too bad I only worked with KLCC up to 1999, a costly mistake. It's wonderful to see some vloggers even touch the steel column of the Petronas Twin Towers, a gesture, they have been there for real, a few of them even did a dance in front of the esplanade and also in the KLCC park.

Actually, there are a lot of foreigners in our country, whether they are expats, tourists, foreign workers, or travellers. We used to refer to "foreigners" as "the white people" from Western countries, but these days we won't even be able to tell if they are foreigners or not because some of them look so much like us or Asian. Only when we speak with them do we realise they are not Malaysians, whether they are Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, or other Asians who live in Western countries. In general, Malaysians welcome foreigners to our country, unless they have malicious intent.

Weird we have seen westerners since the Portuguese invaded Malacca in 1511. Malay treats anyone with friendliness until like Portuguese, Dutch and Japanese started waging war on us. The same rules apply till today. We are now hunting Rohingya, Bangladesh and Indonesia because they forget who they are and where they are. We fought the British when their Representative walked into our ways of life. Simple rules 3R. Just remember amuk is a Malay word which was adopted by the British into their dictionary. If amuk was nothing, would the Brits even put it on their Oxford Dictionary.

The answers from the respondees seem to imply foreign tourists and expatriates. Yes Malaysia has a lot of them : over twenty million tourists per year and hundreds of thousands expatriates. But there is another category of foreigners, not specifically mentioned in the video : foreign migrant workers from Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal etc. According to Tun Mahathir in 2019 when he PM, there were more than 7 million foreign migrant workers in Malaysia - a very large number equivalent to 22 percent of the country's population and 45 percent of the country's workforce.

As a Malaysian myself, I think Malaysia is still a developing country because : 1) Water quality is not up to standard 2) People likes to littering around 3) Angry motorists everywhere 4) Roads and Highways quality are horrible with uneven surface. 5) Corruption and low wages. Guys , we still have a lots to improve, be humble and admit that we are just a developing country.

Honestly i dont mind the “3rd world country” trope so much. It’s the Malaysia cost of living is cheap that annoys me..hahah.
@lC3yGrA1n5 күн бұрын
cheap if we earn USD. Yes annoying when they say its cheap and completely infuriating when they do comparison on foreign worker wages in USD and then assume the local folks earning a decent 3000USD. And then they start b*tching about how malaysian underpay foreign workers like they just smoked 5 mins before they typed. We all are underpaid. Thats why our living cost looked cheap for those who earn USD or equivalent amount. It NOT CHEAP for the locals.

Being called a developed nation, a developing nation, a third world, a first world, an OECD country or whatever, means nothing to us. It is just branding. The west cannot claim they are modern , rich, developed and civilized country unless there are countries that could be branded as poor, backward, undeveloped ones to compare to. To us Malaysians, these branding craze is just a political gimmick by politicians, nothing more!. We are more concerned that we have jobs, houses, cars, internet, good public transport, clean air, disciplined and pleasant societal behaviour, good schools and hospitals , peace and safety, enough food and clothing. Best of all, to have a belief and confidence that our children would live a better life than us... You can brand it whatever.. .. even as heaven, nirvana, utopia, Shangri la if you wish so... whatever.
