Born and raised here as well. I wanted to add to the video and say that Springtree is a nice neighborhood. Quite, pretty, and the best part is the underground powerlines. I do not know too many places around here that have that. If the power grid goes down in certain spots the neighborhood can lose power, it certainly isn't impervious to this, but I've seen it have power when so many others do not.

I’ve lived in G,ville for 28 years. Owned one of those townhomes in the Seranola SW area near what we now call little Phoenix. It’s still a quiet area. But there is crime. And a couple of shootings at the apartments that boarder those townhomes. One thing that’s increasing as fast as the property prices is crime. Then there are the motorcycles. Seems around 9 pm every night someone or a few people jump on their bikes and run wide open up and down the side streets near 30th Terrace. That seems to have subsided. I have lived in this area of G,ville since 96. It’s also become way more congested. But still relatively quiet and safe compared to other areas of town. But keep your cars and homes locked.

I lived around the SW quadrant in what could be called "student" housing. Your clients are probably looking for family homes, so your hoods are a bit more exclusive than the student housing, but I can attest that I lived at Bridgelight Apartments and it was as beautiful as you can get for student housing. Loft, 2-storey style bedrooms with tiny private little personal grassy backyards--although of course you can hear through the walls sometimes in the upper loft areas. Beautiful trees canopy the entire enclosed area. It's close to the SW Archer Road area--near the huge Publix shopping area, with natural areas. It was probably the best apartment rental I have ever experienced. It has a beautiful swimming pool too, a bit small but it's near the tree and duck pond (oh yes, if you are lucky enough to live aroud the little duck pond that is a bonus. There are some more awful huge block apartment buildings with a huge communal area so you have to see all the other buildings, but there are other unique spaces. I lived in a most private area and I loved it completely. At the time (early 2000's, I paid only $500 per month. Now the cost is at least double for the exact same space/appliances. Unfortunatel.

What would you consider a short commute? Depending on price and details Long Leaf and Mentone would be the first two that come to mind with nice amenities. Here's a video with a couple - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKDJgpWJbNOXl5o

Hello! First off, thanks for the videos. I'm moving to Gainesville in May from Mississippi. I wanted to know how traffic in Gainesville is on a regular day (I know how game days are.....I live near Mississippi State University). I'm asking about this bc I have PTSD from a car accident and hate fast, crazy traffic
@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida
@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida 3 жыл бұрын
Glad the videos are helpful! Overall traffic is not too bad but around campus and a few other areas it can get a little backed up. It would likely seem like more traffic coming from Starkville but much less compared to Orlando or Tampa. Depending on where you live and work there are usually options to avoid the heavy traffic. The traffic is not fast and crazy though. A few intersections get backed up and slow down.

When the university is out, traffic is not that bad. Can be heavy in the morning and late afternoon in some places. Stay off 34th street between 3 and 6pm on weekdays.

Blues Creek is a nice area. You have multiple parks and trails near by. Have you had a chance to check out Devil's Millhopper? Depending on where you work and what you like to do some people have told me it's a little too far out but it's a nice area that is not overcrowded.

Hey Raul, everyone has a different opinion and different experiences. Check out www.cityprotect.com. On the left side, click Incidents instead of Agencies. Then search for Gainesville and adjust the filter to go back 3, 6 or 12 months. That will give you some good insight with actual data.

what about apartments and safe neighborhoods, is Gainesville a big city or more country like ?
@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida
@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida 2 жыл бұрын
Gainesville has grown a lot but it would not compare to a place like Orlando or Tampa. Once you get outside of Gainesville it will feel more rural / county. Check out a resource like www.cityprotect.com or other similar websites that show you crime related issues. You can also contact the Alachua County Sheriffs office and they can provide additional details 352-955-1818. There are a wide range of apartments options depending on where you want to be and price range.

Why call it in Gainesville when you are not in it. Haile is like a half an hour commute and Town of Tioga is even further! I would also say that GRU, since it public utility, does at least act as though they want people to be more efficient in their use of water and electricity. I don’t like it also when people complain about voting on the city commission, when they are not in the city limit, sorry about being naggy but it gets frustrating
