That road is slow for a good reason. It is far safer to hit a cow in the road at 30 km/h than at 100 km/h.

@@LivinginSAtv is dark due to damage to natural landscape?
@LivinginSAtv3 жыл бұрын
@@lekholokoelekotsoanamoloi9593 Correct there are a lot of dark interests behind this and the damage done to the eco system there will be unrepairable. I have seen this type of projects happening all over the world and the results can be catastrophic. Is still a great project dont get me wrong, I am just afraid of the collateral effects not only in the environment but also on the residents in the area.

Your video is great. Just want to highlight one aspect though. The people that are engaged in illegal sand mining, they don't supply sanral with that sand. That sand is sold in the towns like Bizana etc. I know this, because I'm involved with the suppliers and legal sand miners in the eastern cape.

The negatives are concerning. Unfortunately, the Wild Coast environment, if SA is like pretty much everywhere else - Brazil, China, U.S., Canada. They all are more than willing to sacrifice their own prescious environment in the name of some antiquated notion of progress.m
@nelsonchinasamy98573 жыл бұрын
BlackDove I understand we have to protect the environment but at the same time South Africa has to progress. Fortunately in South Africa a thorough environmental impact study is done bef a project of this magnitude is given the go ahead and unfortunately some trees and other natural beauties have to give way.
@lovefancy3 жыл бұрын
@@nelsonchinasamy9857 Clearly you do not understand, and if a proper environmental impact study was done then there was not going to be any conflicts between the companies building and local communities (including mine). Most people from the area don't want this to happen as it will encourage a lot of SETTLERS, who will wipe out our way of living. People are already concerned this will lead to incidents about land, racism and all sorts of political issues we do not want. Besides those socio-cultural concerns, there is also concerns about the species of flora and fauna there endemic to the wild coast. That one is not even about us as people from the wildcoast, but it's about the planet as a whole, and spacetime in general.. hence I feel you don't understand what you're talking about but go on, your comments will get you likes.

@@lovefancy dude, there has to be a balance between nature conservation and development. Road networks create opportunities. We need this development in the Eastern Cape. I'm from there.
@dollarbrandyakoellis65263 жыл бұрын
Some people do not want eastern cape to develop. They want it to be a nature reserve so that the xhosas remain in poverty and be the ones who travel allover SA looking for jobs and in some quarters be humiliated and be told they don't belong there. If anything they've been sent there by the ANC. This stupidity must stop !

I have walked along this coast line twice from Port Edward to East London and I can only say 'thank God I did before these projects and the local builders started raping the natural beauty.' It was truly a beautiful part of the world.

What Mr. Gibbons and SANRAL's spin do not tell you in their "sales" video is that: • their is an existing National Road already which has existed for 70+ years. This new route now marginalizes 5 major towns along the old route. A far most cost effective solution would have been to upgrade this road. • the cost recovery for this road cannot come from its toll fees; so what has been proposed is that additional toll sites will be placed in the city of Durban 200kms away to "tax" the commuters there for this grandiose project of SANRAL....... There were sound fiscal reasons why this project never moved for 30 years!

Most people from this area are living and working in Cape Town. Cape Town is the fastest growing city in Africa, because the political system is far more stable and non-corrupt than anywhere else in South Africa. Yet the national government is spending nothing on the national roads near Cape Town like the uncompleted R300, because Cape Town is not managed by the corrupt ANC. Why could we not use South African Companies to build this road? Why Chinese companies? Are we not good enough? All that money flowing out of South Africa.

Because when the 🇿🇦 goverment gets loans from China, the only companies who will see that momey are Chinese companies.
