As a non-jewish person, my observation for jewish people is: If you want to learn about the money, without any doubts, your mentor should be a jewish. Their wisdom on money, investment, business is incredible. On the other hand, they are super trustful and honest people when it comes to business.

I enjoyed this segment.. I am middle class (e.g. ambitious, decent salary, no debt, decent savings and investments + legacy plan) and have a great life. Financial security has always been my goal but never affluence. When I see affluence I am never jealous. Affluence seems exhausting. I am not Jewish, I am African American and non religious.

The question is what are your plans if you become affluent? I keep asking myself if buffet and these guys are as wealthy as they say and will leave billions behind when they die, why don't they help when they are alive? Because alot of it is never in cash.

Amen. I am not Jewish, but I am a person of faith. And it really hit home - that everything we have, even the struggles are miracles. I believe that too. My income and my business are like the manna in the wilderness- it’s like each month or year -my income meets more than what I need- and I am reminded not to worry. It will be provided. Not the amount of money is raising your anxiety, but the level of danger. If your life is in danger, because you dont have $20 for food, that is more stress, than loosing 100 million, while you still have 300 millions. If you are a millioner, and you are not losing everything you have, your life is not in danger, and that is less stress, you still live in luxury...

I have been single so long that I dont know if I want a spouse. And I didn't want kids. Just passed the practical max age for kids. Being respected would be nice, but I dont need it to be happy. I just want health, a little house in the Pacific NW forest, and maybe a kitty or bunny. And my smartphone.

I came from one of the purest Jewish communities in the world Bukharian Jewish community of Uzbekistan, I remember how oppressed our people were working as cobblers, shoe polishers, and photographers. Most of us couldn’t dream about normal Kosher meal. Local people and Soviets hated our guts and בעזרת השם I was able to graduate one of the most prestigious private Universities in the United States, I had a chance working for largest financial institutions in the world, and having a lifestyle in the United States in the top of 1% that is a true G-d’s miracle. ברוך השם

Ah, okay, good to know that growing up in a rural area, where we grew all our own vegetables, fruit, herbs and had chickens for eggs, we were able to save heaps of money. Planning on moving back to a rural area and being self-sufficient again next year.

Thing only thing I would argue is that $372 gas bill feels like $100 million when the person who owes $372 works for the person who took the $100 million loss. The pressure is REAL. Like Rabbi Haber said, the Orthodox Community has People in all Tax Brackets living amongst each other and talking about these exact scenarios. Hopefully someone listening to Rabbi Haber knows a person in Washington, DC that would be open to Rabbi Haber's views on economics. With energy prices where they are, Kosher Food prices are probably INSANE. This is a SERIOUS problem for low income Orthodox Jews. Especially the young Jewish families just starting out.

I noticed people want things like status and material items when they're part of that kind of social circle. When I was injured in a car accident and didnt feel like seeing anyone for a year, I didnt care about keeping up with the Joneses. Then I had a dinner with some well-off friends and suddenly felt like I wanted a high income.

Of course parents should help their children process negative emotions. My point was more about the fact that choosing to raise your child in a community where they will have less luxuries than their peers is a very hard thing to put a child through. Kids are superficial and that’s ok.

While I wouldn't want to criticize the Rabbi, giving a list of 15 external factors that are necessary for happiness is as silly as saying that happiness depends on having money. No person will ever have a perfect life, happiness depends on our relationship with G-d, doing the will of G-d (Torah and Mitzvot), as well as doing good for others, and accepting and believing that all is for the good. We have many living examples of great men/ladies who had basically nothing on this list but lived with tremendous happiness

So the advise is essentually "have faith"? I very much doubt that big companies (food and drugs, for example) operate according to this advice. They are meticulously planning how to tric costumers to buy stuff they don't need. So a good piece of advise is, rabby, how to figure what you DON'T NEED and how to refrain from spending money on something you don't really need AND not feeling bad about it, AKA happy. I would be interested in your take on this.

Not true at all that $372 for gasoline for regular guy or poor guy is easier in any way than drop of 100s of millions in net worth for a billionaire. It may be equivalent, but not worse. It's only worse in absolute numbers. In relative terms, with multiple other life factors at play, it is, in psychological cost terms (such as stress, anxiety, fear...all those negative defeating emotions and effects), equivalent.
