Back in the 80s, my dad had a friend who would buy a ramshackle home, live in it for 2 years, fix it up and sell. My Dad literally died in the same house in which he was born. Dad laughed at his friend, not understanding how the friend was basically "flipping" the houses while avoiding taxes.

We saw a house we really liked. We went into the backyard and the fire station siren went off. The fire station backed up to that house. The highway noise was bad, too. We didn’t buy that house. Two blocks away there was another house. We listened for noise from the highway and the fire house was not noticeable. We are here since 1986. The condo before was a good location, too. We were warned not to get a condo near where the garbage was collected, and were advised which areas had better parking.

I really get the noise thing, I’m very sensitive to it as well. Because of this, I’ve always been the kind of neighbor I’d like to have but unfortunately others don’t do the same 😌. We’re also in too close for comfort suburbia with daily landscapers, leaf blowers, etc. If neighbors talk in their yard, they may as well be standing in my kitchen. Hoping we can buy some land soon. When all the rent and mortgage assistance goes away next month, there will be a flood of available homes, so sell now even if you rent something for awhile.

You don't have to justify yourself to anyone. My husband and I have moved 20 times at least since we've been married. Part for military, part for jobs, part out of necessity (thank you, hurricane Katrina), and part due to family situations. Like you, we've moved less as we got older, but right now we are looking at becoming ex-pats when we retire and are exploring our options. 😊

I don't mind moving at all. I want to move now to a ranch style house from the colonial we live in now. The stairs are getting to me, having to haul the laundry up and down two flights of stairs from the basement. However, my hubby won't budge. I also want to get out of the suburbs and move back out to the rural areas, I miss country living! Unfortunately I married a city boy who thinks that the burbs ARE country living lol. I am praying for you to find a home in WY 🙏 Pray for me that my husband relents and agrees to move.

WE have moved a lot too. We were military for 10 years and we moved more after he was out of the military . It just seems like people always shame those who move a lot or think people are crazy if they do. Well we do not regret any of our moves as God has been with us and there was a purpose for all our moves and we are glad we got to see all those places. We have lived in AZ SD WY Ks PA back to Az. Plus we lived in more than one place in those states like you guys. So I get it.

I’m a person who doesn’t like change. But in 2005 my life changed. My husband died, my last 2 semesters of college and a 15 year old son. My daughter was already out of state. Never paid a bill, didn’t grocery shop alone. At 18 my son graduated and moved out to live with my daughter and mother in law who was dying. Her wish was for time with them. That winter in So Colorado was the coldest in years. I couldn’t afford heat so my house went in heated. I since learned to take care of myself. I moved into the house with my son to help him out. That is my moving 2 miles from where I grew up. I did live outside of Denver for 1 yr. and was told not to go anywhere. A prisoner in my home until my husband came home and he would take me into Denver a couple of times a week.

Moving is no picnic, but it is and should be up to the individual. We moved from a crappy 3bedroom 2bath ranch in WA state to what we hoped would be our last house in rural northern VT. Beautiful pre Civil war house with a huge barn on 20 acres with 2 ponds, meadows and woods. Then the largest dairy farm in the state moved to a location a few miles away. The entire quality of life has changed here now with constant trucking of feed, milk and manure. We may very well have to sell the house we poured heart and soul into forth fifteen years. In short, I can relate

Trying to better yourselves is a good idea. Moving for your health is reasonable. Places where you are familiar or have relatives is a good move where you have jobs within your training and education. Totally agree with you! The last place we were living in was a townhouse, half an hour from the capital. Nice house, I bought it as a smelly dump, fixed it up, but, neighbours.. they were complaining all the time. Parking, my teenage son repairing his dirtbike, my dogs, my hedges, complaining about noices from my house. I had it after 8 years, sold with a nice profit, and built my own homestead in the woods. Dogs run free in the garden, I got a cat, because we have a mouseyear.. 😅 The boys can fix bikes and cars at every hour. I have got comments too about my moves, but it was on the property ladder, to build equity. One friend said as we were moving, I give you 2 years! Well, in Januar we have been living here for two years, not going anywhere. And like you, why do they care? The boys and I did the whole move in a snowstorm, I havent asked any of my friends or family to help with anything. 👍 Next fall my workplace will move... I am struggeling in what to do...😕

I recommend you drive all around possible homes, check county offices for whats nearby. No railroad tracks, no dumps, no clampetts next door, no used car lot, no junk yard, etc... is what to look for. PS: Minimum of 10 acres if you dont want neighbors next to you. Our last place was 20.11 acres but neighbors land was 50 ft behind our house. They had 65 acres and decided to put a trail right on property line so they could ride 4 wheelers around their property. People are stupid abd inconsiderate so make sure your house is in the middle of property and not on edge of property. It might be woods now but you never know what will come in next to you. We looked at one that was 15 acres but the house was 30 feet off road and 20 feet from neighbors property, No thanks. We also share a driveway with neighbor (NEVER AGAIN). Make sure you check for any easements on the new place.

I would love to downsize (I’m single, 50, and living in a 1582 square foot house) but if I want to stay near my family there is just very little inventory and what is available is crazy high in price. I have a lot of equity but that doesn’t do me any good if I have to pay a high price for a smaller house. I had thought about selling and moving to a cheaper area but then my daughter got pregnant with my grandson, so leaving was an option I took off the table. I hardly ever got to see my grandparents when I was growing and I want to be a regular part of his life.

Between divorced parents at a young age (back and forth) and a step-father who was career military, I moved a LOT in my childhood. I spent several years overseas in Germany as a result and loved it. As an adult, I lived in a lot of apartments and as rent always goes up, there were a lot of moves there too. I am finally in a small town and like you said, never a dull moment, but I like it here and don't see myself returning to a big city any time soon. You're right, moving is a hassle, but it's not as big of a deal as people would make out. Once you've done it a few times, it gets easier. I'm happy to be where I'm at and to set down roots, but like you, if I have to move again, I know I can do so. God bless on your house hunt. :-)

If you've moved too much I guess I have since January 2013. Moved January 2013 May 2013 June 2014 May 2015 May 2016 March 2017. Now I want to move again as soon as I can find something with reasonable rent. Tired of having to fight landlady to get things repaired. And I hate the physical task of moving. But landlady is driving me nuts!!! I'd like to have a functional apartment that I don't to fight somebody to have a working functional apartment. She says "I wish you people would pay for your own repairs so I can have all the rent money as profit." What the .....? It's your property dear not mine. Lady I'm not paying for a new furnace for you. I'll put up with it going out every 6 months and you pay for the stupid part. You should replace the furnace like they've suggested. So tired of everything breaking all the time and having to listen to griping about what it costs her. So I'm looking for new housing. We all should live somewhere that we find pleasant. So move when it's best suited for you.

I just love your channel and love your stories. I am 52 years old and have probably lived in over 50 places throughout my life (parents not in the military either) I started out in Cedar Rapids Iowa and at the age of five my parents moved us to Dallas Texas we stayed there for a few months and from there went to Houston where we moved at least 30 times when I turned 14 I went to live with my birth father in Boulder Colorado for a brief time then he was transferred to Rockford Illinois, then Elkhart Illinois. In the meantime my mom and stepdad Moved back to Wisconsin so for a brief moment I went up there to live with them where they moved at least another 10 times. I joined the Army when I was 17 so I did some extensive traveling and lived in many places and I’m finally proud to say that I’ve lived in the same house now for 20 years in North Carolina it’s on 1 acre of wooded land and I absolutely love it and I never plan on moving again!!!

You need to live in a rural area that has only two houses on one road . You need at least five acres where your house sets back two miles in from the street and your only neighbor is at the end of your street.

Sensitive kids have a hard time moving constantly. Introverts go deeper into seclusion. Makes them insecure and dont vocalize the pain they go through. Extroverts roll with the punches and some love it. Each family has introverts and extroverts. A lot of moves are detrimental to certain kids. That's why people are concerned after kids start screwel. Before kids, it's fun and a learning experience.

We moved a lot in the early years of our marriage for a variety of reasons. We’ve lived in our current home for almost 30 years. (We just celebrated our 46th anniversary.) BTW, we live waaaay out in the country- I hate noise too!! 😁

Is climate a consideration in your desire to move to Wyoming? Or is your main concern the desire to have more property?

Sad that you feel the need to explain...moving is a personal and expensive challenge but is also affected by seasons in one's life. Wishing your family only the best...and please consider yourselves adventurers!

My husband bought our house in June 2007 and then the housing market crashed in 2008. Our house value was cut in half in one year. We are finally to a point where we MIGHT be able to get what we owe on it. That being said, did you ever deal with not being able to move due to the housing marking changing so drastically or being underwater with your mortgage? We've been trying to move for like 10 years.... our house was built in 1900. No one wants older houses. Ugh.

It amazes me that people would be rude enough to criticize your number of moves. How dare they. I don't have the noise issues but I could not tolerate barking dogs constantly either. And now that school is being done at home our new neighbors son I think must be trying to become a basketball star....that constant bouncing is a bit grating I do get a break when he goes in for school, meals etc. And he really doesn't have anyone to play with. But you had real reasons and needs to move. You have worked hard to be where you are today and if you want your forever home to be in another place you have the right to do exactly that. And all that being said you still are considering your Mom and your immediate family. I hope you find just the perfect place for all of you. Best of luck in your search. Have a Blessed day.

In the mountains of Georgia you can buy a house away from others. Find you one with a big running creek and a fireplace, away from everyone and live my dream for me.
