I live in Miami Iam a mojito drinker most of the bars here uses simple syrup which is equal amount of sugar and water I personally like the syrup because it dissolves better and they use fresh limes instead of half water/lime juice and they top it off with a splash of Club soda, this receipts is used in all cruises lines and the famous Gloria Estefan’s restaurants. Thank you!!! Decades ago I bought myself a Bacardi Mojito "kit" for my birthday. It tasted delicious. Since then, whenever I order a Mojito, I never got one that tasted right. I just returned from a vacation on Mallorca, and although they made the cocktail in an impressive way, that one also didn't taste right. When I got home, instead of flowers at the airport, I got a mint plant, limes and "ready bacardi mojito" cans. Ofcourse it also didn't taste right, but the thought was so sweet. This evening I bought Bacardi rum, limes and followed some recipes. The second one I made was this video, with lemons, because this nice waiter said so, and I made it exactly like he said. Brilliant! This is it! Thank you!

I’ve tried both simply syrup and sugar. This is in my opinion the better method. More rustic and how I imagine the original drink was made. After trying several methods, I 100% agree that it’s best not muddle the mint. Takes a bit longer to get the menthol to release with sugar, but like most good things, time is worth the effort.

Sure, you can use simple syrup, muddle some limes and mint together to cut the time down, but the quality does go down when you are focused on getting drink tickets out of the way. Justin: What hole have you stuck your head up? Now every medium to large city across the continent has 100’s of great bars.
@mrsmartypants_14 жыл бұрын
blackbirdbeatle: Not completely true. He uses granulated sugar because it acts as an abrasive agent against the leaves to gently express the spearmint/wintergreen oils. Just adding simple syrup does not have this physical ability. (You are right in drinks that don’t use granulated sugar as an abrasive it is the same as simple sugar once fully dissolved).
@ericdelevinquiere99024 жыл бұрын
The whole point here is to add sugar to the mint first, the sugar by osmosis will extract the essence of the mint, the water and lime will dissolve the concoction, the alcohol will enhance the flavor.

VonSpiegel. No, the bartender says he stirs mint and sugar for 2 minutes and then stirs the drink for 1 more minute to dissolve the sugar. Add the other steps and that's at least a 3 minute and 20 second cocktail... That's way to long for one drink. Here's the recipe I used. 12 mint leaves 2 sugar cubes Half a lime fully squeezed Add these ingredients into a highball glass and then stir until the sugar cubes are thoroughly dissolved in the lime juice. By this time you should be getting a really nice scent of that mint coming off the glass. Next fill the highball glass with 3/4 of crushed ice, then stir rapidly again with your bar spoon until the glass is super cold in your hands. Then add in the rum leaving an inch of space to the top and mix again the rum and contents with your bar spoon (5 swirls) and then top off with more crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lime.

Best mojito I ever had was at the outdoor bar at the ocean club on paradise island. The service, the setting and the view make it special. 😎

Next time I top off the glass with Rum like he did. If someone asks how much Rum I’ll shrug shoulders and say It’s the metric system.

Wrong!! Mojitos.. he loved to drink mojitos with his cute young Cuban boys.

Hemingway didn’t invent or made famous the mojitos and Daiquiris. They were already famous. Hemingway did make famous the papas Hemingway!!!! A grapefruit extra shot daiquiri. Although he split his bar nights between el floridita and la bodeguita del medio. El floridita was his favorite. That’s the reason you can see a whole body bronze statue of himself in el floridita. I use to say that there is no mojitos done right or wrong. Simply they are not the classic or the original. You can see mojitos done with sprite, foreigner rums, club soda, some people crush the leaves, some other the hole leaves with the stem, some people use vodka or tequila. They all are right and they can taste Fabulous, but they are not the original. The original mojito: (Mix in this order) T spoon sugar One whole Yerba buena ( not mint) Crush the stem, leave the leave intact Add 1/2 onz lemon juice Add water and stir till the sugar is disolved Add 2 onz of white rum Add ice cubes Fill with water to the top Add 3 drops or 1 dash of angostura bitter Enjoy This is the original.

@@aldovitohe you know that Yerba buena is only the spanish notation for mint? There is no such plant as Yerba buena which differs to mint...

@@aldovitohe I've watched about six mojito videos today and each was different.. I wasn't aware that they were made with spoonfuls of sugar I assume they all use syrup. I have to say it's one of the prettiest drinks. It looks like it tastes, clean and refreshing.
