The strobe is more effective than the Klarus. USB charging is pretty fast so not sweating the dumb battery. Lot of these new lights lately are pushing too hard and get hot quick. P20i is my current favorite tac light. In my pocket right now is my trusty Fenix UC35 that's a few years old. Old Skool light you don't have to spray with liquid nitrogen after 1 min.

The some new fenix lights get very hot fast. I have just seen a review about a TK16 V2 where he mentioned it. I myself had ecperienced that the PD32 V2 get very hot quickly. Also the Klarus XT2CR Pro. And Olight m2r Warrior pro.

Refer to the manual. You can actually reprogram the light from "tactical mode" into "daily mode". In the latter it will start on whatever setting last used. This makes a little more sense because its not a very good tactical light. I base that opinion around actually using it in a tactical application during the course of a year: I work in private security and law enforcement. Every time I've made a somewhat violent arrest the light would fall out of the flimsy plastic holster. The button would also often catch on my my vest and get turned on. Since I replaced the holster for a nitecore cordura one this almost started a fire in my car as the cordura melted. I dropped the light from a fairly low height onto concrete. It landed on its side but the lens still shattered. I doubt this would ever survive being used as glassbreaker or striking tool. This might have some tactical features but its not a tool a picky professional should concider using. I would recommend looking at the Olight Warrior 3s instead. Similiar price and features, slightly more compact, a little brighter and alot more durable. I did replace the lense because overall I like the light alot and I still get alot of use out of in in civilian life.

Is what it is - Designed for tactical, as you say. I wouldn't want to be a LEO and have to turn on my light in a hurry, only to have it come on at 15 lumens, etc. Simple & effective use and design. Pretty much foolproof, which is what you want, under pressure. Topped mine off with the Nitecore TSL10i signal light tail cap, which is certainly worth a look. 👍

Hi, Is it possible to turn on the flashlight without making a clicking noise? Because in tactical training this noise can be fatal and deliver the operator's location.

If you light someone up, your position is already a given. You can silently half-press and signal if need be.

Looking to pick up the P20i for edc. All of the potential issues, mostly seem like 'features' to me ; - ). I had the Klarus XT and lost it in the woods. 2300 Lumens is a lot of fun, but I'm now seeking a tighter beam and hoping that holster works as good as it looks. That said, I would definitely by the Klarus XT again, and would possibly be a better choice for normal people. Great review!

It’s perfect for law enforcement and tactical use. It’s a complete nuisance for the average user. Unless you’re always outdoors in a wide open area, you’re going to blind yourself whenever you turn the light on since it comes on at full turbo mode. I made the mistake of buying this light thinking it would be useful for my job as a repairman

Yea, my ol mh12s has the ability to go into normal mode and tactical with some tricky inputs. I really don't see nitecore removing that function, especially on a light like this. It's on allot of other lights to of their's too. Nitecore usually doesn't slip up on a massive mistake like that imo. I haven't researched this light but Im sure you can take it out of tactical mode? (aka max brightness momentary only) That's exactly what my mh12s does in tactical mode. I just got the srt7gt and the infanite brightness adjustment ring is AMAZING. It's hard to go back to any flashlight now, even though it's a thrower mainly.

I love the features of this flashlight (even without a really low lumens mode), but being forced to use a special Nitecore battery is probably a deal-breaker for me. If I'm out somewhere and the battery goes dead, I want the ability to pop in one of my other non-Nitecore 21700 batteries at least temporarily. I think this flashlight will work with CR-123's so I don't see why it won't work with other 21700 batteries as long as you don't try to charge them in the flashlight.

Really its a matter of choice. Always better to buy American. That being said , almost every market is flooded with Chinese manufacturing. Its easy just to click and order, with no research ( being lazy). And btw, being lazy IS a viable option. Not going to pretend it isn’t.
