@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
jeeper999999 Hmm...I didn't see any flames coming out but you can see the fire through the cracks from time to time. It is sealed as good as it can be since it is a takedown model and as long as your heat is drawing up the pipe it is good enough for this purpose. It wasn't made to be expedition quality like a fourdog stove but also doesn't have the nearly quadruple pricetag and extreme weight :)- Thanks for watching.

I got it both after watching your video. Love the setup except where the flute pipe and the stove come together. I'm sure there's a way to fix this problem. got any ideas?

you shouldn't have any smoke coming out if you have proper updraft. leave both vents open full until you heat up the stove enough to close them down a bit.

Hello Living Survival, how long did the stove last?
@amycrafts20128 жыл бұрын
Hi. I have the black steel tent stove, made like that but heavier and maybe a little bigger. It has a rack-like handle that folds down flat to be a cooking surface and place to hang wet gloves, socks, etc. Yours is too light to have that attached, I would think, but you could take a long grate of some sort and put across the top to have a flat cooking surface. If it was longer than the "reach" of the heat, you could stack up wood to be the end supports. That teepee is great. How long does it take you to put it up and take it down? Thanks for sharing your skills.

@wjf2139 жыл бұрын
This is why I watch all your videos, even if it looks like it's some thing I may not be interested in. You don't just answer the questions, you do a follow up video when needed, and you do a great job. Thanks. I bet if you moved that kettle closer to the front of the stove, it wouldn't even make a small dent, because of the front is supported by the round door frame. The rear, while hotter, is not supported by anything and has a hole for the stove pipe. I bet if they took a slightly heavier sheet of TI, or maybe even just the same stuff used in the stove now, and rolled it to where it would fit over the assembled stove, and under the cables and it just covered from say 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, it would add the needed strength to keep the stove from deforming at all. Heck I bet you could make some thing out of sheet metal that would work too, but I know it wouldn't look as nice and add more weight. It would be a nice add on if some one wanted to pay a little extra. Either way it works and works VERY well. Keep up the great work.
@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
wjf213 I did play around with it a bit but more towards the front would be on the turnbuckles and I figured it may not heat up as fast with less contact. Either way you could certainly do two pots at once. I have a small skillet that could be used for eggs/bacon while boiling water on the rear with the kettle. I will have to try it. Also, I am thinking when I roll it up tight for storage any larger dings would come out. The smaller dings and dents don't bother me as with anything else just battle wounds :)-
@Liteoutdoors19 жыл бұрын
I've been experimenting with placing 2 titanium rods which rest on the end plates. If you place a pot on these titanium rods I'm hoping it will take some of the weight off of the foil. Good idea on placing an extra layer on the top. Im also looking into using a thicker titanium foil for the bodies of the stove. Thanks for the input!
@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
LiteOutdoors wjf213 I cooked on it using a MSR quick skillet on the front to brown sausage and then cook an egg scramble and it worked perfect and fast while still heating water on the rear. Works fine.

Mathew Alves Well, mostly tipis are what I would use due to the height. There are a few military surplus shelters but heavy. You can put a stove jack into any tent but again just gotta get a feel for the spacing. This was the lightest setup I could find, tipi and stove and that was my goal.

Michael Daury Took much work, lol. It tends to melt away and dry anyway or in the bush you could use pine boughs etc to make a floor. I used a mylar type blanket under my wool blanket but as it heated up and cooled it got too slippery so I ditched the mylar and just put my wool blanket right on the snow. Yes, I only had a few inches of snow but you surely couldn't clear it all out or wouldn't want to with feet of snow on the ground.

@MrWinger19519 жыл бұрын
Since titanium doesn't transfer heat as well as steel, isn't there a large amount of heat loss up the chimney? Titanium is certainly lighter and that would be a benefit compared to a stainless steel stove. How does this model compare to the SeekOutside stove?
@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
MrWinger1951 The seek outside is a square shape and not round so not quite as packable but similar in weight at just over 3lbs for the seek outside and pipe. My goal here was ultimate packability and weight. Not sure on the heat thing but it sure is efficient and really heats this shelter up fast.
@Liteoutdoors19 жыл бұрын
I can comment on the titanium transfer thing. Titanium is less heat conductive than stainless steel. What that means, is that instead of absorbing and "holding on" to the heat, the heat will pass right through the stove and into your tent (more efficient). Stainless will absorb more heat, and reflect heat back into the stove, which means more heat lost up the chimney (less efficient). The biggest downside to titanium is the cost.

I just dont get why all ppl use firesteel to ligt their fires these days, its so much easier to use matches or a lighter. I have a firesteel always with me but its my back up. Lighter fails, try matches. Matches fail then the fire steel comes in. Always 3 ways to make a fire with me, lighter in my pocket, matches in waterproof bag, fire steel on knife sheath

If it's nice and warm, why th hat, coat and snow.? Snow means 32% or less.. ..... Those meals are good but I prefer to make my own.. I dehydrate just about everything and put my own meals together using my home recipes.. They are tasty, easy, inexpensive, light weight, nutritious, chem free and fun.. Since I pack them in vacuum/ boil-in bags I can rehydrate and eat from th same bag.. I put th used bag in a zipper bag until I can ditch it.. Th trash weighs almost nothing and is extremely compact.. I carry a variety of plastic zipper bags, they are useful for so many things.. I really hate using so much plastic but I don't know what else will what plastic does.. ..... What if you catch a rabbit or squirrel.? How much weight can th stove top handle.? It would suck to have one stove for cooking and another for heat..

+Living Survival It's a flimsy pop can. You can see all the air gaps in the stove. I would not feel safe sleeping and using that for a heat source. I am surprised it doesn't collapse when it's filled with wood.
