14:45 I assure you, Willie, that no intelligent Canadian would drive on ice like that either. 😮😬😱 What we do have, which you may not, is well-planned and well funded winter road maintenance. They don't just use grit - they also use salt. I live very close to one of the largest salt mines in the world, which is in the town of Goderich. 😁😍😘🤗

Hello again ☺. Been here since the beginning (my late husband Terry and I). I we've spoke in the past about how you both reminded us both of our younger selves back in the day. Willie is so much like Terry, tall in stature, a close shave beard and the celtic colouring etc (his mother was from Newcastle). And he could put his hand to anything, just like Willie, and was very kind (I'm thinking of the way you tried to save the fish) I was an artist like Sarah (72 now and lost my mo jo this year). Where is this going? Well! When I watched the video of The Storm a couple of weeks ago it near finished me off, I cried all the way through. It was like watching Terry walking on the hills, fells and mountains (we've been to Skye a couple of times lin the past). Sorry if the comparison seems a bit weird but its uncanny. So thank you for the beautiful lyrics Willie and the atmospheric landscape (I will be ordering it). Take care of each other, always. Sending love, light and festive blessings to both and the doggies 🐕🐶 xx

Not sure it’s worth the investment to be honest. This coming week it’s showing 10C/50F near them and raining. If they stock up with a few provisions they can last out the few days it might be bad. They are not needing to get to town every day.

I've got rubber grips I bought one year for shoes and boots, they were £2 lol, best thing I've bought in ages. You just stretch them over your soles and I swear, I was marching about over sheet ice like Willie and Sarah showed, I felt invincible ...like jesus walking on water 🤣 ....I often think about how weird it is....when I was wee I used to love seeing ice outside and making slides, in our school playground it was a slope, we used to all work together collecting water in bottles or even crisp bags, and we'd make a slide the whole length down and slide down it fearlessly....till the janitor was sent out to put salt on it 😂 boo 😂.....but now I'm 48....I walk in baby steps if I see ice, terrified of falling..🤣

When I had a car I bought TOYO TIRES they were made with a softer rubber that had crushed nutshells throughout the tread. It doesn’t get hard in cooler temperatures and these you can drive all year round. It’s the best investment I ever made, it was like night and day. Before I bought them I would practice in a car park with 2” of solid ice, the All Seasonal were pitiful, even when there was no ice I couldn’t start up a steep incline when it had been raining and in one particular incident I was trying to stop at a traffic light, the car kept going. I am not an aggressive driver, never have been. I bought the TOYO TIRES all season with a mountain and snowflake symbol on the sidewalls. I had a far easier time driving. This was brought on when I was asked what kind of tire I wanted. Since I hadn’t actually thought about it, I was like a deer in the headlights. So it was the man behind the counter who had asked if traction was an important aspect? I quickly replied yes. I was so happy with them. If you don’t have traction you end up being a danger not only to yourself but others too. I also bought chains as I wasn’t going to get stuck anywhere. I even drove my sister to a Xmas party, sometimes being a chauffeur has fringe benefits. Love the videos and the bloopers.

@JeremyP-12121 күн бұрын
Easiest thing we do in the american frozen north is lower your tire pressure to about 20 psi (1.4 bar) That will give you a bigger foot print and let the tires form to those gaps and cracks. Make sure you pump them back up when the ice melts

🇨🇦 Canada here: I actually lol'd when you mentioned Canada. While it's true, we're used to winter and perhaps better equipped to handle most of what winter can throw at us, I must admit we do struggle with ice, too! Without salt or some other type of grit you're at the mercy of the ice and I feel your pain. On days like that you just have to go with the flow and adjust your plans to work with Mother Nature. 😉

Congratulations on your 100th episode! I'm used to being snowed in as I live in a very small town in Northern Ontario. We have had over 5ft of snow already this December but we have a generator, a fully stocked freezer and lots of groceries in our cold cellar. Although our cars are 4wd SUV's with snow tires we don't take a chance if the roads are bad. As long as you have enough food stored it's safer to just hunker down until the roads are cleared!

I had to drive home in White out conditions with accumulated snow on the road last week. It was scary. To top it off the leaf spring on the front driver’s side is cracked and I shouldn’t have been driving. I can understand why you didn’t want to drive. Sarah, your walk in the park with Jack was epic. I was hoping you weren’t lost. Willie to the rescue! The Jack couzie was hilarious and the shot of him with his ball at the end was quite dramatic. He looked so dignified. There was nothing dignified about the zoomies. They were hilarious!

Hi Sarah and Willie , Jack n' Noori. Congrats to you all on your 100th, as a fellow you tuber, I know how much work goes into getting a video out each week, I have to put 2 out, as I produce a channel for a local Tackle shop (the Tonys tackle Seamatch channel) as well as my own. A bigger congrats goes out to you for your 64+k subs, achieved in 100 episodes, I really do know how hard that is to achieve and is a testiment to your hard work. My wife Marina and I , and our Jack, Bertie , are big fans of the show, and have been with you since the beginning, Bertie is particularly a fan of Jack and Noori. Its one of the few things we all watch together. I see that there are a few suggesting you get some snow chains, they really do work, and can be put on and taken off according to the weather (although a bit messy). I admire your art Sarah , and I even liked Willie's last song the storm. Oh and you now have me hooked on marsh mallows in my chocolate. you should have collected some of the whitebait that was still fresh, and tried it fried in some flour, they are delicious, but once they are frozen they turn to pulp in my experience. Oh well back to video editing for me ,seasons greetings, keep keep the videos coming. CJ and Marina

agree with the folks who recommend keeping a set of chains in the vehicles for roads just like the icy ones you had to deal with. We have a long driveway that goes up hill from the state road and without chains we would be iced in for months here in upstate New York (US). Chains are not difficult to place on the tires and even this old woman can do it but I do strongly encourage the old man to keep up with that chore while I keep up with taking care of the poultry in all manner of challenging weather. Hats off to the farmer who celebrates the hard working employee of the week!❤️

Hello still watching the vlog! but wanted to share this about he bubbles. I got off of Google "AI"! Bubbles in water in Skye, Scotland can be caused by a number of natural processes, including: Organic materials: Decaying plants and animals can reduce the surface tension of water, which can lead to bubbles when wind blows or waves wash against the shore. Agitation: Stormy conditions can break down organic material, which can reduce the surface tension of water and cause bubbles to form. Natural surfactants: Molecules from decomposed leaves and twigs can cause water to foam. Air in the water: Cold water can hold more air than warm water, so when cold water is warmed, the air is released as bubbles.

Congratulations on episode 100! I will offer a little advice if you don't mind. Willie, when driving on snow and ice, use the high box and 2nd or 3rd gear (whichever she can cope with). This will make driving much much easier for you. Also consider lowering your tyre pressures a little to improve the tyres footprint. Sarah, we have just updated one of our cars and used Arnold Clark . They were brilliant. Failing that, Macrae garage in Portree usually has a few decent cars for sale and may be worth a visit. Amanda and I bought some metal trekkers that strap onto walking boots etc. They are fab when the conditions are as icy as they were. Sorry to sound like your dad!

Do you all not have studded tires for winter? We have studded tired here in Alaska that makes getting around on icy roads much easier.

OK.Canadian here (Nova Scotia). Ice is a fact of life here and I have those cleat/spikes/crampons that you slip over your boots. They work like a charm. We also don't go out in ice unless the roads have been brined or salted. Beautiful part of the world you live in.

@@CuriousCalligrapherthey sound like a great idea. I live in the Scottish highlands and we get a lot of ice and snow I think I might invest in some!

Speaking from experience, get some Blizzak X Ice Tires...brilliant on snow and ice...or studded tires...not sure if studs are legal in Scotland. Yes, here in Canada those conditions are normal...and we also now live in a rural area. Additionally, get some cleats for your boots...simple, safe solution. Pop some fireplace ashes on the ice in your driveway for traction...or sand. I hope the post office does not close....I always feel that those services are more important in small communities. Great walkabout at The Plock with JS. Merry Christmas to you and the furry lads from Ontario Canada 🎄🎁🥳✝️🌟🐾
