@pesto12601 True, doctors are good for that, but they have been led by pharmaceuticals. They write one percription, then another for side affects, then another, etc.. they don't fix the problem. They cover it. We have to remember that doctors "practice" medicine.

@@kinflorida579I think you are seeing the wrong doctors, not securing your own healthy by being an informed patient or are just watching too much fox and friends.. Glad to hear your success story! I have been following an OMAD Mediterranean leaning lifestyle consisting mainly of low carb / high fiber / multicolored vegetables of all types, moderate protein, and high fat (mainly EVOO, AVOCADO, and a L. Rueteri semi-crumbly cream cheese that I ferment using organic half and half). I ferment many of the non-leafy veggies (carrots, beets, green / red cabbage, fennel, onions, sunchokes, tomatoes, dicon radish, jicama , and whatever else I find that interests me). I consume a large amount of vinegar (I ferment a few pure juices - apple, pomegranate, grape - just about anything that doesn’t have additives/preservatives). I also usually have a few dozen pickled eggs, jars of various meats that I pressure can, cans of anchovies, sardines, and herring that I keep on hand when my wife and I don’t want to cook a protein. I also do a 3 day fast every 6 to 8 weeks. I’ve gone 4 days on 2 occasions only to see how I would feel. I understand the why as to the lack of hunger, but I still find it mystifying. I have been following this lifestyle for nearly 2 years and have shocked my doctors. I’ve lost 90 pounds and have gotten off my diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure meds. I have astonished myself because I haven’t felt this young in decades. I undertook this radical change as a result of requiring a major surgery to remove a 5th of my liver due to cancer. I wanted to try to stack the deck in my favor and avoid going through that again. Unfortunately, about 18 months ago, an MRI showed the tumor had returned and I had a repeat procedure a few months later. Here’s where the story takes an unexpected twist. I had the surgery and the pathology report indicated that no cancer was detected. Now, I’m not saying my lifestyle change had anything to do with that, but I know I caught the attention of my GP, Oncologist, and surgeon. I no longer have the customary 10 minute follow up visits. I have actually been paraded in front of their colleagues to discuss what I am doing. 😊😊😊. Those 2 surgeries aside, I will never go back to my old ways and I intend to strive to avoid a three-peat. Oh, by the way, I’ve also captured the attention of friends and family (my wife included). They all thought I was crazy, but now our gatherings, more likely than not, drift towards education sessions where they pick my brain trying to understand how I maintain such discipline. They refuse to believe how easy it is once you kick the addiction to carbs. My GP didn’t think I would be successful, but at my last visit he commented that if I manage to maintain this endeavor that I should write a book. I chuckled at him and said that there were already hundreds of books out there - we just have to get people to read them! 😊😊😊

Mine resisted ("I don't need to lose weight")...but after some health issues, gave in to the idea of cutting way back on his sugar consumption. He did shed a lot of weight way faster than I did, which was a bit discouraging, but he had his six pack back and his face looked way better and his health improved, so now he is occasionally trying the intermittent fasting. We no longer have bread , rice or pasta in the house, he eats the dinner I make and uses chaffles for sandwich bread. The fasting part helped me because I could eat on my schedule and they had to fend for themselves. I just explained calmly that I needed to prioritize my health, this is just the way I eat now.

When we were on it before, we lost 60 pounds each. The only thing I can’t use but my husband can is Stevia. I’m very allergic to Stevia, which is part of the ragweed family. So much physical healing happens during sleep and during fasting, which is very important for those who are in recovery from consuming man made & over processed foods. Those foods have high added salts, sugars & sweeteners - often even camouflaged in the labeling. It’s fantastic you shared some of ur Keto meals, healthy products and portion sizes. BRAVO you guys!! Congrats on your progress! And thank you for calling it a lifestyle. It truly is a lifestyle! Zero soda , do not like anything with Soy in it nor high fructose corn syrup. I use real homemade vanilla extract... Keto has treated me quite well.. my blood pressure is also way down. I've been on Keto for 3 years and love all the benefits! I intermittent fast as well! I will say however, and I do understand it is winter, but salad greens are so important for our nutritional needs such as kale, parsley and cabbage! Do you not grow cabbage and do slaw's? I do buy organic salad mix from the store during winter, add kale, red cabbage, carrot, beet root, radish and add olive oil, some herbs and a squeeze of lemon or apple cider vinegar. Also, sauerkraut is probably the BEST probiotic's and I add a small side to many meals. I love your meals! FYI...A wonderful substitute for potatoes and keto friendly is daikon radish! I grow them during the summer and fall and add to soups, Asian stir-fry's, salads, slaw's, and dice up in corn-beef hash! Anyway, my 2 cents..I have learned lots from you, thank you!

I dont have any fake sugar products besides the occasional diet soda when out and about, and I like to nibble 90% dark chocolate. Found you because I wanted to start raising some of my own food, as many, if not most in my area have everything from cows, goats, emus, and more. So glad to see that you guys have found a real food, ketogenic way of eating. My formerly type 2 diabetic husband has had an Hba1c in the normal range for 6+ years now. It's an easier way of eating than others would have you believe. Dr Westman is one of my favorite low carb doctors, he always keeps things simple.

Love the simplicity of your meals…. Thank you for sharing. Love this video. I don’t snack either. Your meals seem similar to mine. I do like to have salad a few days a week for lunch. I eat eggs everyday 😊.

I definitely miss having our own farm. Homegrown meats, eggs, and fruits and veggies taste so incredibly good!!! For those of you who have never had homegrown, you won't believe how great these things taste!

Good for you guys! Protein is time-released energy so you stay satisfied. We eased into low carb by quitting just sugar the first week, then cutting other processed carbs. We don’t limit our carbs from veg very much, depending on how fast we are trying to lose weight. There is plenty of current research supporting keeping insulin down.

I don’t have a homestead so everything came from the store. When I was on keto, I found I was not hungry in between meals, only ate 2 meals a day, and no snacks, so my grocery bill was really appreciably less. Also, I concentrated on increasing my water intake which also helped minimize hunger.
