You might have to get used to it because it is the answer. It is also the answer to many other ailments, such as diabetes, potential cancers, dementia, and a whole host of other serious illnesses not just schizophrenia. I am sorry that the medical profession is so woefully inadequate to not know these things. Nutrition is something drs really don’t spend much time studying in med school. We didn’t learn anything about it at all for my BA in psychology. I was going to go the med school route for psychiatry. But am doing PMHNP instead. 95% of serotonin is produced in the brain. We really are what we eat… and chronic inflammation is often a large reason why people experience mental illness overall. we need to take it more seriously and use meds as a third line approach… they’re too often thrown out as a first line and it’s inappropriate for most humans.
@CashMoneyMoore10 ай бұрын
This is all fantastic to see. Just a word of caution from someone who has been there - if you keep going down on your meds and you still feel great, you might reach a point where you go - hey i'm feeling great! I'm cured! I can have a few more carbs, everybody else can have them, I'm sure it's fine - and you can very quickly find yourself not eating as much fat as you need and keeping carbs as low as you need. It is the equivalent of not taking your medications! It seems everyone has this experience when the diet is working because we like to think we are smarter than we really are. So just keep vigilant and maybe ask those around you to keep you accountable when that day comes. Because I think it is coming sooner rather than later! A good problem to have. Cheers! Also, for Rob - if you really need a laxative, up the MCT oil! Promise you it will do the trick - will help with ketones too

This is so great to watch you on this journey and see how it goes along with you! Thank you so much for doing this Lauren. A lot of the keto docs say just be careful of the “net carb” processed foods bc they can actually raise your blood sugar quite a bit depending on what they are saying is “insoluble” fiber etc. They say it’s best to check you blood sugar before and a certain amount of time after a low carb treat to make sure it’s not spiking your blood sugar.

Be careful of some of those Keto food snacks. Every Keto snacks that I've seen on shelves, most of the time, have unhealthy ingredients like corn syrup. Keto falls in the line with Paleo and supposed to have natural ingredients. Corrupted food companies always find loop holes in laws to lie about what is in your food. For example, I just found out that "Corn Syrup", which I always say is very bad to consume, has more carbohydrates than wheat and table sugar and companies found a loop hole to not display the correct amount of "Carbs" that is in the food. Also, "Corn Syrup" is not actually categorized as a food since it is one of the most processed ingredients.

This is really interesting!! Thank you for taking us with us on this journey. Is there a possibility that placebo effect can happen? I hope not, just curious.
@JadaRose88010 ай бұрын
No it is not a placebo effect. The keto diet has been around for many years it was first used to treat epileptic seizures. It is now emerging as a new treatment for mental illness. You should watch the videos that Lauren did with Dr. Palmer this will address many of the questions you may have about why the ketogenic diet works with people who are struggling with mental illness.
@mygirldarby10 ай бұрын
@JadaRose880 it isn't possible for you to decide whether someone else is having a placebo affect. And that Dr. Palmer guy is one man. One person. He does not have long-term studies on whether the keto diet can successfully treat any mental illness. Seizures are not a mental illness.
@loricat560610 ай бұрын
While the placebo effect can influence just about anything to some degree, it can't be so drastic as to reduce symptoms of mental illness like that. She also has a partner, therapist, doctor, nutritionist, and psychiatrist observing her from the outside, so it would be clear pretty quickly if the placebo effect was occurring. She also displays a large degree of skepticism and has made it clear by her words and actions that she is aware of the importance of not being too optimistic (lacking skepticism, and being too optimistic, increases the likelihood of someone experiencing the placebo effect. I hope this answers your question well! Thank you for being someone that respectfully asks questions (as opposed to those who would just make assumptions and judgments) !

I'm on Vyvanse to counteract the sedation from my psych meds. My body reacts differently to meds that I'm on since tapering off so many. I haven't gone to the gym in over 2 years. I've gained weight. Psych meds tend to do that to you. Sucks! I need to eat better and go to the gym. I know it will make me feel better. I tend to isolate with my depression and that makes things worse. @BEAGS1977410 ай бұрын
@@gecooooo I could be wrong but I'm looking at this from two perspectives - as a content manager and a viewer who doesn't have a severe mental illness. As a content manager, this series has to have been planned to some extent. It makes no sense that she would create food and ketone measurement videos for five or six months before reducing meds. They need a story to tell and that story needs progression or views will drop. So, I believe she planned to reduce meds all along as part of the story. From the perspective of someone without a mental illness, I have watched this channel long enough to know that she has delusions about taking medication and has often expressed her desire not to take it (I don't blame her; it has side effects.). I also think she is a little manic and overly optimistic about being cured through diet. For these reasons, I think she told her doctor exactly what she felt he needed to hear to get him to agree to reduce her meds. I don't know if she is self-aware enough to recognize this, but let's be frank. She found a doctor to significantly change her medication over the phone without looking at her in person and evaluating her. I say she's driving this because I think she has a clear goal with this experiment and will say and do what she needs to in order to reach said goal. I am a little cynical and pessimistic about this, admittedly. I truly hope it works for her. That said, I think she displays manipulative and narcissistic behaviors that could be to her detriment. I also think monetizing this colors the outcome.

If you're having issues with cheese have or can you add more fiber into your diet for Rob. I am diabetic and fiber comes in many forms. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Do your doctors have any concerns about any physical negative effects of ketosis, like kidney stones?

@@mygirldarby I live in Manitoba so I understand the cold. 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t have children, but Lauren has spoken on her channel about having co-parents, so I reasonably assume that’s where they are when they run together?

There are no proteins in the meat nor amino acids after heat treatment above 50 degrees Celsius for more than 5 minutes when their denaturation occurs.

Taking in too much protein triggers a digestive response where the body breaks proteins down to sugars. Just a little explanation for the low keto values, but don't sweat it! The important thing is to continue having fun with the diet and forging a new standard in lifestyle living. For Rob, I'd recommend eating an extra bowlful of steamed broccoli. The fiber drop-off from cutting out carbs is heinous, and can lead to some painful movements. Other people have recommended solutions, so I'm sure you've got this all taken care of. But you better believe I'm waiting for an update! Regarding balancing the macros, I recommend focusing on increasing the almond intake. In addition to them being high fat and low carb, they're also really good for absorbing the increased LDL-cholesterol that your diets are likely to include.

I understand that there is a huge link between the gut and "brain chemicals" , but I wasn't sure what types of diet modifications would have the greatest effect. I am thrilled that you are having these great results and hope and pray that things keep getting better for you.

There's a lot of crap in those packaged bars, including the first ingredient which has seed oils. I'd be cautious on them, though they might fall within your keto macros they are in no way anything other than a kind of junk food.

I really hope this works for her but I worry we're watching a train wreck happening in real time. And the shift to vlog and family channel is disconcerting. Maybe be more careful and post videos once you know this really works? I really hope you get a lasting good result.

Ive dealt with schizophrenia really bad since i was early 20s, but had it all my life. I self medicated with cocaine and booze, like alot of us do. 3 years ago i went carnivore and i havent picked up a drug since. Im able to handle my extreme paranoia better now, and stop it. I like watching youre channel. ALOT of us, especially the older ones like myslef didnt have anywhere to turn or anyone to talk to, so naturally we turned to drugs and booze. If more people knew that ketosis can save you, i feel like everything would change. Idk

Cheese is really hard for me to digest too. I tried some this morning, and the farts are already coming . . .So, like, what I did was start eating organ meats to get affordable protein (since I can't digest beans). Tongue, heart, liver. Luckily I live with a Filipina from a remote farm where they have always eaten these foods. And I live a few blocks from a Chinese store that sells them. But it's been an adjustment . . . I am a little worried about cholesterol. But I have never had high cholesterol. Anyway I will check in a few months.
