I retired in 2020 during Covid. So I got the idea to crochet some baby blankets for any future great grandkids. I got carried away and made 10 blankets and hat sets. And i still do not have a great grandchild yet. lol

My favorite christmas tradition as a child, and my family still does now, is making homemade caramels, peanut brittle and pecan turtles. We also used to go as a family every year to a tree farm and cut down our tree each year. That smell of pine in the house will always feel like christmas to me!

We always went to a movie on Christmas Eve with my Dad while my mom stayed home and wrapped the presents. On our way home we would stop by White Castle and get a sack of hamburgers to eat when we got home😊

I crochet. I had a grandmother who passed away in 2001 and an aunt who passed away in 2002 and their hand made crafts and crocheted/knit items are some of the most cherished items they left behind. I want to have things to give my kids for when I'm no longer around too.

Pajama run was my favorite childhood memory,its when you surprise the kiddos after they get into their pjs and yell pajama run and everyone runs to get in the warm car to go look at lights and get mc Donalds❤❤

For Christmas, when we were little we all "decorated" together, it really was all mom. Lol. But then I took the whole thing over at 14 and never looked back, im 64 now!. I love doing Christmas! My tree is the heart of it, full of the family ornaments of which one is now 70 yrs old from when my parents were first married. It's a little fragile and slightly faded, but to me, it's the best one on the tree! Keep doing your wonderful video's Cambtea!

We have an afghan (throw) that my mother-in-law crocheted. She crocheted one for each of her kids when they got married. My husband was 15 yrs younger than his next oldest sibling so she crocheted it much later in life. Her hands were very stiff and bent due to rheumatoid arthritis but she still crocheted it. It is beautiful. We used it so much until it began to wear out. I miss her so much. She was a dear lady.

Yes, love the baby blankets made by family, before we lost my mom she crocheted blankets, she made them for her grandchildren and then made them for all the future great grandchildren, she made so many before she got sick that there are ones set aside for her great great grandchildren. My sister has them safely stored away for the future. We love them and her great grandchildren love their blankets it helps us to remember to tell stories about their great grandma!

Oh Cambria, what a tresure to have a special handmade gift from her great, great, great grandma! That's awesome! The chicken & dumplings sounds yummy, & the biscuits too! Your bedroom looks beautiful especially with the new beding! I usually don't wash my new things! I love the newness of it & figure they won't be new ever again. For Christmas, we would get a big box full of gifts from my Sister & her family every Christmas, she was 11yrs older & got married when I was around 7 or 8 yrs & my brother was 13yrs older! So I was the baby & spoiled! So the box was so exciting to get & I couldn't wait til Christmas to open them up! It was magical! As I got older, my parents gave me money sometimes to get what I wanted! One year I wanted this tape recorder. I thought it was so cool! So my Mom said if I saved half of it from my babysitting money she would put the other half in & she ordered it! So I did. I think it was about $50, so I saved my $25 & she put other $25 in & ordered it! We played on that tape recorder for several years! This was in the early 60's! Your bedroom is beautiful!!! As I think back to my childhood, we follow my family's tradition is to have prime rib candle light dinner on Christmas Eve. We have so many precious candles. We always put our shoes out for St. Nicholas Day. Then we'd wake up in the morning and have shoes filled with candy! It was like the first week of December. I grew up in Minnesota.

A Christmas Story is my favorite movie. Can not wait for it to be on tv soon and watching the marathon showings. My granddaughter is 7 ( she’s an August baby - born on her mother’s (my daughter) birthday- same day) I’ve been doing the gingerbread house on the day after thanksgiving that has now became her holiday tradition. She can pretty much decorate it herself now.

My mom would always forget St Nicholas Day so as kids we did too - until we went to school. What a hoot. For some reason it didn’t really bother us because not all families did it.

When I was little we always made gingerbread cookies with my grandma early in december. Here in Sweden we celebrate christmas on the 24th 🇸🇪 and since everyone in my family are divorced we always celebrated 4 days in a row, one day with mom, one with dad, one with my paternsal grandma (always the 25th) and then with my moms family at the 26th. Since I became a mom 18 years ago we’ve made our own family traditions and we almost always celebrate christmas at home on the 24th and my MIL, FIL come to us. When my grandma were alive and well she usually came to us and same for my mom. We also keep the door open for people we know who might be alone, one of our neighbours usually comes over for christmas lunch for example, the 25th we always celebrate with my husbands relatives at my MILs and FILs house.

You brought up happy memories with this video! My grandma always had chenille bed spreads, and we received one at our wedding. They were so soft and lasted forever! As far as Christmas, my sisters and I would help my mom decorate the tree - she would take care of the rest. On Christmas Eve, after we were supposed to be asleep, I could hear my mom wrapping gifts in the livingroom. My sisters and I were allowed to open our stockings Christmas morning while our parents slept in, then it was on to parents when they awoke. Thanks for sharing your memories with us ❤

C., your bedroom looks great!! As children we helped with decorating the tree and etc. My mom added any needed finishing touches. One great Christmas memory was lighting kerosine lanterns and my sisters and I would walk down our street with the lanterns delivering Christmas treats to our neighbors. It was a bit of a walk as our homes all had 1/2 to 1 acre of land. Then when we returned home we would drink hot, home made cocoa. Decorationg home made sugar cookies was fun, too! Also, I wanted to say that those blankets made by your great grandmother is SO fantastic!!! What a special keep sake for sure!! Have a great weekend!!

Similarly to the baby blankets, my mom crochets our Christmas stockings. She has made one for herself, my dad, my brother and me. Then when I got married, for my husband and then for each of our 5 kids. She has made a few extras for any other kids that may try to sneak in or if my brother ever has children. I am a novice crocheter but I hope to make them for my grand children some day if she can't!

So we live in Hawaii and our house is old in an area that is normally cooler because of the wind in the valley so we have a real fireplace. We don’t use it cause it’s too hot but we put a fake one in our master bedroom and we love it! It’s always on. Makes it feel cozy! Dinner looked amazing! Would love to try the biscuits!

We never had Christmas traditions growing up. The only things that were a "tradition" for us was going to Salvation Army dinners that they would hold at this huge building... we also got presents from them in large black garbage bags. I went with my daddy to pick them up. And since I am the best at gift wrapping, they would give me the bags and I would wrap the presents and put the lm under our tree. We had a large enclosed porch balcony that was my playroom and I wouldn't let anyone see what they had gotten. So they would take my bro Louie outside sledding or whatever to keep him busy while I did my magic. ❤️💚🌲😁🎁 The other tradition was going to church. I think everyone else thought church was a chore but I loved it. I sang in the choir, I helped out in the kitchen, I attended and helped at the events...later on I taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School (aka VBS). I played bells during Christmas choir events, too. Church has always been a salvation for me.... pun totally intended. Literally, God saved me. 🙏🏻😇and I wear a ring with a cross on it. I'm not "religious". I don't even go to church anymore due to my disabilities with Fibromyalgia. But I have Bible study apps on my phone. Highly recommend. I also have Bible games, too!! But I believe that all religions are correct and all religions are wrong when it comes to the understanding of who God is. Now, if you combine all the religions and subtract the inconsistencies....you might get close to understanding. As close to that pure knowledge of what LOVE truly is. 💜🤍🩶🖤🤎🩵💙💚💛🧡🩷❤️❤️‍🩹💓💗💖💝💘💞💕💟❣️💌🛐✝️☮️🙏🏻☯️✡️🕎🔯
