I purchased a motorhome for motorhome specialist in the middle of February of 2014. My wife and I flew to Dallas-Fort Worth airport from North Eastern US. They picked us up at the airport and drove us back to the dealership and dropped us off at our motorhome which was in the delivery park, as I had pre-ordered the motorhome. after giving us a 15 minute break we had a pre-delivery walkthrough for an hour and a half. After that we were escorted to the business office where we closed on the motorhome. Next we went back to the motorhome and unpacked our two carry-on bags. After walking over to a nearby fast food place we came back to the motorhome and checked it out until it was bedtime. Next morning we contacted our sales person and after explaining to him that all we had with us where the contents of our carry-on luggage, he promptly made arrangements for us to borrow a car from the dealership. We use the car for two solid days to pick up supplies and make our motorhome a home. I should also mention that motor home specialist got us the best interest rate for RV loan through Bank of America at 3.99 percent for a 20-year note. The final price on the motor home was 28% below MSRP. Overall I could not have been happier with my sales experience with Motorhome Specialists. I have told this take to many other people, every word of it is true and I have not been paid any compensation for my positive comments. Yes I would buy from them again.

The inspection upon delivery to the dealership is the dealer receiving inspection. This consists of any repairs needed, exterior wash, interior prep (removing tape from travel tape, placing the linens on the bed, etc.etc..) and a light cleaning of visible debris. The pre-delivery inspection and prep is after you sign (wash, hand waxing, interior cleaning, inspection of all components, and repairs) but, before you take the keys. Anything that is broken, burned out, missing, leaking, not working, etc, etc, should have been fixed during the PDI. If not, request the PDI be refunded or a pro-rated refund based on how much was not done, time compensation, and hassle. In some instances you can request compensation in lieu of a refund, via optional equipment, component(s) or supplies from their store, etc, etc. You're more likely to have an equal compensation for their error, with a pleasant outcome for both parties. Some PDI fees are insanely high. On a full body paint coach, it can be higher because of the washing and hand waxing of the exterior and the sheer size of the interior that requires cleaning, inspection, and prep. I'm not a fan of PDI fees. To me PDI is a cost of doing business. As it is most rush through pre-delivery inspections and cleaning. I've never too delivery of a unit which was cleaned properly. Open cabinets and you'll see bits of debris and dust from manufacturing which should have been vacuumed out. Don't rush taking delivery. Let them keep the unit two full days. Unless they request you come sooner to free up a shop or storage bay. Again, blabbing on and on. Cheers from Seattle!

Thanks for video , this is a little off the buying aspect , but i see the Aspire is around 45 ft , how many campgrounds approx. 50% etc , accept that size , do you have any trouble finding good places to stay at that length , on the reservation service from Rand , and finally how hard are these to drive in windy rainy conditions and do you find yourself comfortable during severe weather in the coach parked or driving or does it creak and shake during stormy weather , sorry for such a long babble. Thanks Keith Wheeler Nashville, TN

Thanks so much, for doing this video, we have been looking for a motor home for about a year, can't stand sales people hanging out while we shop and talk. Seriously have been thinking and shopping online at mhsrv . There are quite a few negative reviews online, but after watching your video, I'm thinking we are going to Texas, and the prices are awesome. We plan to be full time by years end.👏🏻👏🏻 thanks again for your honest opinion👍🏻✌🏼😃

thanks for the feedback. We love MHSRV but we also strongly advise you to also checkout National Indoor RV and compare what you find. NIRV has a smaller in stock selection but they offer service and storage (and wash) and have facilities in Atlanta, Texas and Phoenix so its also nice to have the national presence. Really we would recommend both but for the purpose of shopping I would compare both against one another and make the choice based on what they are willing to offer you on day one and beyond. Thanks for watching!

Great job guys!!! Wow, both of you are so professional and friendly. I have a small 5th wheel and I'm not shopping for a rig although I'd like one!! You guys are one of the best and informative V-logers I've come across, keep up your hard work, you both work so well off of each other it's a pleasure to view. The longer video the better, I know it can be harder for you guys to edit but I love the longer vlog's like 20-30 minutes. This is ALAN from RIVERSIDE California, please stay safe on the road and keep doing what you're doing!!

Each video easily takes 8-10 hours to produce and usually more and these are the comments that keep us going! Thanks so much and we'll see what we can do about making them longer while keeping the quality high!

Product knowledge is big issue with sales people. Dealerships need to work on providing an internal database for sales people to access via tablets while on the lot with customers. It would be extremely easy to import all the data, from manufacturers on each specific unit, to an internal database accessable to the sales and service force via the dealership's stock number and VIN. While researching my new unit, I found the manufacturers website lack a lot of data I needed. If the manufacturer can't freely provide this information, one can't expect the salesforce to have this information. And no, a sales person is not going to knowing everything on every unit. It takes years to learn specifics about each brand, each model, and the options available. On top of all the information one must learn, it changes every six months. The manufacturer may have a contract for a 6 months or XX number of GE appliance packages. So at any given time, the appliances may change. Some of the units under $100k MSRP may even have appliances which were discontinued over two years prior because the manufacturer received a special price if they purchased the last 50k units sitting in a warehouse. Or retail packaging was damaged.. etc.. etc... The fact is, your sales person may know very little about the unit your looking at. They'll know even less about a pre-owned unit. Never rely on what a sales person says as fact. Most, not all, sales people will say just about anything to get you to buy. You'll notice their answers are vague, with some very misleading. Before purchasing anything do your research. Do this research before you even step foot on a lot. True RV shows, not a parking lot event where one or two dealership's drove all their unit across town to set up an "RV Show", are a great place to start. Yes, there will be a lot of sales people everywhere. But it is easier to see many different RV styles. More importantly is the many, many different floorplan options available. Have your tablet or phone charged up. This way you can go directly to the manufacturers website to view all the floorplans and options available while at a show, where only a few floorplans are available for an RV brand you find very appealing. Bookmark units you want to research further. Because there are so many RVs to see, you can easily forget the RV you saw a few hours earlier that you absolutely thought was the one for you, but it lacked, say, a real tile backsplash or something. So add notes to your phone or tablet so you can track which units you liked the most and what features you must have or want to inquire about adding or changing. A lot of assembly line RVs do allow for minor alterations for a fee. Don't think you're stuck with a $2 million dollar custom unit just because you don't like how the closet shelves are spaced. The last thing to keep in mine is your sales person isn't making $1000's off your purchase. They're making a few hundred. So don't think they won't let you walk out. If you're super nice to them they may even throw in a bonus item or two included from the manufacturer and/or dealer add-ons. I wouldn't go out of my way to make someone, who's being a total d**k to me, happy. Most small dealerships don't expect to see you back. There really is no real brand loyality in the RV towable and under $200k market. Some high-end diesel pusher brands have repeat buyers. With the exception of those high-end castles on wheels, don't expect return calls, phone calls to see how the RV and family are, Christmas cards, or even a one month follow-up to make sure you're happy and have no questions or concerns. Once you've driven off the lot, they're onto hooking a line in the next buyer. Occasionally you'll find a sale person who's so passionate about the job and customers that he/she will use downtime to check in with customers and even purchase cards to send over the holidays. The average ownership period for a new RV is just 2.6 years. I like to think this is due for the most part because buyers are not doing enough research, in person - hands-on viewing, and buying with emotion or for the aesthetics, rather than functionality. The RV industry is very good at throwing in really nice features to distract us from short coming or flaws. We get so wrapped up in how nice everything looks that we don't notice there are no bunks for the kids to sleep on until after we've started to load it up for the first camping trip. An extreme, but factual example. You're not likely to find the RV that meets all your wants and desires. Realizing no RV will be a 110% perfect match will make things easier. Some compromises are necessary to get the right RV for you. I found two units, when combined, would have been my dream RV. Trouble was, they're from two different manufacturers. So I had to prioritize my wants and needs in order to choose which was best for me. I absolutely love it. After using the fifth wheel for a few months, I realized many of the "must haves" would and have gone underutilized and would have and do take up space. As well as missing other features and items which I didn't know I wanted or needed during the build process. Ok. Enough of my rambling.. Cheers from Seattle!

I've heard to much negative and crooked things that Camping world does! Not to mention they get away with shady business practices that would have anyone else tossed in jail! I also heard the big boss is friends with the sophisticated!!! Camping world is only a good place to get a feel for the type of motor home your looking for! Not to buy! My wife and I, went to Camping World and the sales leaches brought us into their office asked what we were looking for and while we were talking, he said he'd give us a gift certificate to use in their store, just for coming in and looking at some possible units to buy! He never gave it to us! He still called us up several times and finally we asked about the gift certificate and never heard from him again! I would imagine all the Camping World's are the same throughout the U.S!

sure thing. Our top issues with the dealership 1. they are not a full service center, focusing on sales and then not much post purchase 2. the hands off approach in sales is both good and bad, depends what you like but for us it resulted in us feeling overwhelmed having to return multiple times and do a lot of our own research to really understand which products were "value products" vs "quality products" 3. since they have been sold the PDI process is not what it used to be and the delivery process isn't as high quality as it used to be (as of our last purchase back in 2020).

It has been great. We are really happy and have considered a used Cornerstone (our coach with an independent suspension, bigger motor, real leather and granite, tile shower etc) but the switch would be such a pain that we are probably sticking with what we have as we honestly have everything we'd want with very few major issues. Probably the biggest PITA was the radiator which was leaking after 6 months, it was replaced under warranty. All other stuff has been minor and nothing related to Entegra build quality but rather parts failing that were made by 3rd parties. I've heard that the new models are not quite built as well but we see lots of happy folks in the entegra forums so i'm not sure that is a valid statement. I can say the 2015 year was a very good year for us!!

Great video and appreciate the feedback on MHS. My wife and I have been there a couple times looking at class A motorhomes and really like the Entegra 44B floorplan. My question is how or where did you learn to drive it? In Texas we need a Non-CDL Class B license to drive one but nobody teaches you to drive one unless you already have one. Not sure how you do that since it's illegal to drive it.
@LivinliteNet1
@LivinliteNet1 6 жыл бұрын
+Bob Russell a special license was not required in our home state of NH so we were able to just drive however it is a big coach and there was a learning curve. We just jumped in and our salesperson took us for about 2 hours of driving lessons which was key. We then had run of the mhsrv complex for a couple days, setup cones and practiced all manner of pull in, back in etc until we really felt comfortable to hit the road. The question on Texas and how to get the license is a great one, bit of a chicken and the egg situation. Not sure unfortunately what the procedure is as that isn't our home state but ask Mark and Julie from @rvlovetv as they are registered in TX and went through this recently I believe.

We only live an hour away from Alvarado and went to a motorhome/RV show in Dallas and when we figured out what we wanted we headed to MHSRV. This was in 2011 and it was a brand new 2011 Monaco. We were very disappointed in the sales guy and the manager wasn't too much better. We ended up going to another state to buy the exact MH. I wonder if their sales division is any better? +plow not in our home state of New Hampshire but in lots of states you do need a CDL or other license endorsement to drive a large rig. Check your local rules. Last Fall RVDirect offered online a new 2017 Aspire 44B for 57% of MSRP this was one that had languished unsold on their lot hence the huge price concession will MHSRV offer a similar 57% of MSRP price?
@LivinliteNet1

we cannot comment on what MHSRV will or will not offer in terms of pricing nor if they would price match a unit that was a one-off discounted in-stock/overstock item. That said, they would certainly be willing to have a conversation i'm sure! I'm not sure if there is that much margin in an Entegra so matching that price may make the deal upside down. Perhaps RV Direct needed to unload it and was willing to take a loss or got it at a great deal which allowed them to do that. Again we aren't pricing experts but thanks for the info and sharing your experience!

A whole lot can change in 3 years in the RV Industry, especially when you consider sales have tripled or quadrupled in just that time!

Yes agreed, we were presently surprised that General Manager and Partner/Owner of the dealership reached out us within 48 hours of this video and thanked us. Nice to know they are watching and care so much about their brand and their customers.

Because of the demand the manufacturers have been making them as fast as possible. Quality will suffer. Service will be difficult since they are not able to keep up with the demand. There is a guy on KZbin that bought a new Newmar NewAire and he documented the quality problems. Newmar is a high end coach. One thing we can expect with the raising of interest rates- tons of used RV's for sale.

What length financing did they offer?

Up to 25 years I believe. Kind of like a mortgage but remember with 25 years of interest you will pay close to double after finance charges and term for something that goes down in value not up like most traditional houses. Shop safe! Thanks for checking in!

I bought from MHSRV. After speaking with a sales rep, who described the unit in full, and assured me that it was as advertised, I put down $1,000 to hold the unit. I drove 4 hours to their location in Alvarado, TX. After getting a fairly thorough introduction to the unit, I bought and returned home. During the trip, I attempted to use the navigation unit. Couldn't make it work at all during the trip. Once home, I spent time checking out the nav system and learned that, in fact, the unit had been removed, rendering the system useless. I checked the advertisement on the unit and it clearly stated GPS navigation was on the unit. I wrote an email to the manager of MHRSV explaining the problem, but never received a call or written reply at all. I my opinion, this is really poor business practices. I personally would never recommend this dealer.

it seems stranded, worrying about my next appointment, to get the same fucking thing fixed... is now the new normal... and I now need a permanent battery tender installed.... add it to the thousands$ just to get the chassis to steer.

Two things I will never understand: Time shares and the fact that there are still people who buy them, and second, people who buy new motor homes who are willing to take the instant, huge depreciation hit. If ya don't care, ya don't care, I get it. But damn.....these things are nothing but money pits. I've been to this dealership. These coaches gets tons of 'tire-kickers', like me, walking through them for weeks/months before YOU buy it. It is true though, this dealership is completley indifferent to you until you are a serious buyer. I guess they've learned not to waste their time on the BS artists.

Did I hear you say you did a video on REV next door. Can you share that link in a reply. They have had my motorhome 5 months collectively for warranty work over the course of 1.5 years.

+Priceless water wells video is filmed but not edited or posted yet but will be coming soon. Wow 5 months? What were they waiting on? Parts or recurring issues?
@pricelesswaterwells9454
@pricelesswaterwells9454 6 жыл бұрын
LivinLite.net Some reoccurring issues, sometimes parts, I would have to set an appointment up 20 to 30 days out then they would have it 1-2 months. The first was the worst, my initial punch list was approximately 50 items and they had it 2 months then twice after that. I live in Fort Worth but bought my 2017 fleetwood 40G in Idaho because Mhsrv didn’t have them yet and the price was gonna be a little more. Bad move on my part. I had wanted a 40G 5 years earlier but we wanted to make sure we were gonna like motorhoming so my entry was a used forest river Berkshire 390bh with 70K on it. We put 25K more miles on it and then had Mhsrv sell it for us. I think your on point with them. They seem to be good people. And I plan on buying my next one from them. Anyway back to REV, I just always got the run around as to why it took so long to fix problems with my coach. Now that I’ve had my 40G for about 1.5 years and we already have 11K miles on it I have decided to sell it for a coach that is set up better for cold weather when we go to Colorado or up north further. I was on the fence between a Thor Tuscany 45mx and an aspire 44R ( got kids so gotta have the bunks). When you said that REV was the service center for Entegra I was like 🤦🏻‍♂️. I know I will be buying the 5 year extended warranty on whatever I get and I’ll just take it to Mhsrv and leave it with them. I’m sure they have more pull with REV than I do if I go aspire. I know that is the better built coach

I over heard that class A RV'S or any RV they depreciate they're not like a house where houses will not depreciate so when purchasing a RV be careful and maybe it's better to buy a used one cause class A can go as much as $ 250,000

A good rule of thumb is 10-15% depreciation every year. This is not an investment, it’s a depreciating asset. For us the savings from a traditional home far outweighs the depreciation but do your homework!

RV's are NOT a investment (moneywise). In fact they can be a real money pit. They are more of a investment in your life. You can experience things with a RV that a home could never deliver on.
