These Fleeting Shadows hasn't even been released in the UK. On Amazon it's only available for £19 in hardback, and that's a US import. So I can't imagine it's a great book as it's the first one I've come across on YT that hasn't even been published here

I put Book of Night on my Worst Books of 2022 list but I didn't hate it. I mainly put it there because it was confusing but there were things I enjoyed about the story. I'd say if you weren't into the main character then you probably shouldn't pick it back up. I'm actually curious to see what she does with the second book.

I Know Who You Are was my worst book of the year, it left such a bad taste in my mouth. The stuff at the end was just disgusting and ruined the book for me.

I completely agree on We Were Liars. I was so bored, the twist did catch me off guard but I didn’t care about the characters at all so it didn’t make much of an impact on me

I’m in the minority of people who really quite enjoyed Hide - and I don’t know why - because every criticism I see of it is so valid and yet I had such a good time reading it 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I think maybe because I’d seen so many negative reviews first I wasn’t expecting much so it exceeded my very low expectations haha

Book of Night was a slog. I would read about shadow magic, or trashy-hot punks in dive bars (I love trashy-hot punks) but this one just…wasn’t cool. The main character just decides out of nowhere that everyone is looking for a magical object, but there’s no reasoning behind it. And the writing itself was just too clunky. I loved Ninth House but it really wasn’t dark academia. Not enough of it felt like it was happening on a university campus, and Alex never went to class.

I hear One Italian Summer was better as a physical read verse a audiobook; many agree Lauren Graham wasn’t the best narrator choice. The Last Letter from Tour Lover by JoJo Moyes was my choice this year. I loved Me Before You by her but it just goes to show you can connect with some authors books but not others.

It was just the story in general I was not a fan of. 🙈 That’s so true - sometimes we don’t always love every book but that’s okay. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hey Liv!! I haven't commented on your channel on forever but I miss you!! I'm honestly surprised you DNF'D the Book of Night! I haven't read it yet but I'm definitely inclined to pick it up simply because it's Holly Black HAHA I read all of the Summer I Turned Pretty series too and you are so right about the series doing a full 180 TBH I enjoyed We Were Liars, but I do not understand all the hype behind it. I think I gave it 3 stars too? Hopefully you have even less disappointments next year!

Book of Night…have tried reading it three times and all I can say is back away from the book, it isn’t worth your time and I sincerely hope that Holly Black gives up on this series as it just doesn’t work. Her other work I love and she writes beautifully, this one was just a big flop 🫢

The second half of the Christmas Murder Game was better than the 1st! Pacing was DEFINITELY off, but I ended up wanting to finish it because the second half went quicker.

I actually really liked one Italian summer. I think the reason the mother daughter relationship seemed weird or extra was because they were best friends and she was grieving and her emotions were heightened. But I see how it could be a turn off

In December we come for the best books of the year, but stay for the worst :) I completely agree with As seen on tv and the Christmas Murder Game. I was looking back and realized that I had read the Christmas Pig by JK Rowling in January and really didn't like it. It seemed very dark and weird for a kids' book. We are all the Same in the Dark by Julia Haeberlin was very forgettable and not a favorite of the year.
