Thanks, very informative. Btw, I'm running 3 of my 4 Vista units without heat sinks without any issues. You just need to have some air flow, i.e. some wind or the props spinning. Without air flow, the goggles display the "air unit overheating" message after around 30-60 seconds depending on ambient temperature. If you still do nothing it shuts of the Vista.. I normally try to avoid that. With the stock unit the same thing happens but it takes several minutes. I have not yet lost any of my Vista units and I'm using them like that since the beginning of the year. Just my experience, I believe that, depending on the rig (especially for Micro's) it's worth the risk to save the weight (I think roughly 15g)

Would you mind making a microelectronics basics video? It's fascinating to me how you can recognize the components and you know how they work (each single one, as well as together as a system).
@FilipRadelic3 жыл бұрын
I also always suspected DJI manufactures these, but now that they announced Caddx will be manufacturing Air Units I am not so sure anymore. If it uses the exact same components and runs the same firmware, possible that it’s sold under same fcc id, would be interesting to hear from someone more familiar on the matter. I’ve been running several Vistas with no heatsinks at all and haven’t tun into any issues. Even left one plugged in for like 45min accidentally and it was fine once it cooled down. The heatsink you removed last seems to be the most important one as P1 emits a lot of heat even in low power mode. Even with basic airflow from 40mm props on a stationary whoop it’s enough not to overheat unless it’s sitting in the sun on a hot summer day. But even then, mine survived whole summer of back-to-back flying.
@LivyuFPV3 жыл бұрын
It can survive... but that amount of heat is not healthy. But by doing this you accept the risk :P

Great video! Thanks for sharing! Is there a way to access de sbus signal before it gets inverted? My F4 FC doesnt have Sbus and I tought that maybe I could wire the Naked Vista from the Uninverted Sbus to a Rx in the FC.

I couldn't find relevant information anywhere so decided to give it a try here. I playing little bit with my Vista unit because have problem with DJI FPV Cam. I do connecting and reconnecting camera while Vista were powered. After that I notice that without camera my bitrate is about 10Mbps. Could no image to process cause lower bitrate?

So is it fair to say there’s no proprietary IC chips? If that’s the case this could be reverse engineered by other manufacturers?

I have this unit and after only flying with it today after only a 10 minute flight, a few hours later I plugged a lipo in and straight away I had a strong electrical smell and seen a small smoke vapour come from the unit. At first I thought i must have a wire shorting to the frame,under close inspection, it was clean and tested on my volt metre ,all fine. Again i plugged the lipo in , light on the vista and immediately same thing smoke. What the hell had this bought brand new as a present in sept and have had to wait a few months fro my new frame to arrive from China. 10 mins flying and then this. What would you recommend I do?

My vista has recently stopped showing the OSD on my goggles, I contacted caddx, and they said that the core board has been damage due to excess heat... I've never left my unit powered on for long periods of time without proper ventilation. I don't think their "diagnostic" is correct, because I still get video in my goggles, so if the board was damaged, wouldn't it just not work overall? And if it is damaged, is there any way to replace it?

Should I conformal coat this? Or just leave the unit, as it looks relatively sealed?
@Imakilln3 жыл бұрын
I've been wondering the same - thinking about pulling mine apart and carefully applying some electronic grade silicone sealant around the outsides of the shielded areas + connectors to make the whole inside areas water tight.. But you're right it looks pretty good already!
