She’s the quintessential music-hall legend. Pity she didn’t do more Broadway shows Her technique is always rooted in truth, meaning and emotion not just vocal and musical technique Pure gold.

I couldn’t believe some people didn’t know who Liza’s mother was, but at the same time I think it’s a testament to Liza being an entertainer in her own right. She deserves to be recognized as brilliant on her own.

OMG!!! So amazing right??!!! Just shows how incredible her talent is that she’s not only made a name for herself all of her own, but also carved a lane out just for her. Who her Parents are, is just the cherry on top!

Only a few bright kids today know Liza's mom is Judy. Some don't even realize was a big big star in her prime.other than Arrested Development they know little of her. It's their loss

Oh I knew, my mum had Judy’s 78 records when I was a child. So knew from a young age knew who Liza is. Mum went to see Judy when she performed in Australia. Judy wasn’t at her best in her Melbourne concert but mum wouldn’t say one bad word against her. She loved Judy no matter what.

Liza was seriously hot shit. Adorable, charismatic, funny, great singer AND dancer, humble, slinky, vulnerable. I met her several years ago after a show and she couldn't have been gentler. There is no modern equivalent to her. The ones who get close are mostly narcissists who turn you off with their self-reverence.

I love how unique and different her performance of this song is. It’s so refreshing; you can just tell she’s just having a ball singing this song.

She is a great singer, great dancer and great human being, there is nothing she cannot do, she works so hard st everything she does, she makes it look easy and effortless but it all comes from hours and hours of blood, sweat and tears...

This is a woman who worked so hard over and over to make it (right) all look easy; not to mention her wicked sense of humor. A gifted beautiful fragile/tough entertainer, and oh Liza -- those Elsa Perretti Sterling Silver cuffs...😎

Over the years I've seen and/or heard this number done many times and by some performers considered to be the best of the best in their field. I hadn't, however, seen/heard Liza do it until just now. No contest, no other came anywhere near her power, connection and command of the song. It was like seeing/hearing it for the first time...and it was thrilling, electric and flat out the best rendition of them all. Fully realized moment to moment... intentions crystal clear, impeccable beat changes and you know exactly who Rose is, what she wants and the lengths she'll go to to get it. Riveting, mesmerizing, energy off the hook... THIS is how it's done. 💓.•°•.♡.•°•.💓

one of the greatest losses to entertainment is never getting to see Liza play the role of momma Rose. What a force of nature she would've been. They should've mounted a production after just this performance alone.

Wow!!! PS. We are so lucky to have her. When her lovely mother was in the last years of her life performing in London and around, I thought we were so lucky, because at any time she might come on the tv in a telecast and we could hear her magnificent voice. Then she passed away and I felt an extraordinary sense of sadness to have lost her and those beautiful performances. Right now I love this woman for all the joy she has brought with her music. She has lived longer and that is a real gift to us. May the lovely Liza live a long time and enjoy life every day. A blessing for the joy she has brought with her music.

I wonder what 88 bucks was worth back when that song was written
@hannahw88174 жыл бұрын
The musical that this song is from came out in 1959. However, the story takes place earlier. The scene that this song is from is probably in about 1920. According to dollartimes.com (however reliable that may be) $88 dollars in 1920 was worth $1,169.76 in 2019's money.
