Not to mention the whole "She sounds so annoying!" thing that always seems to pop up on the female's videos... sexism is alive and well...

These people are "normal human beings." Humans are good people, flawed people, critics, tribal, phobic towards difference, phobic towards that which they do not understand, and smart enough to look deeper and be more objective, equal and balanced. But I have been watching these as well. I went back to the last video i saw, a B-Phlat one. I looked through, and out of 373 comments only 10 were gender-based comments about her. The rest were "giggles, quotes, and references." So if you are saying all or even most comments for female comics are the way, I'm not seeing it. Might that just be confirmation bias on your part.

Comedians come from all walks of life. Even if I do not correlate with a specific comedian, I love to see and hear stories from other perspectives. That is part of the joy of story telling, which is what comedy is. I am not a valley girl, but her delivery and punch lines are good. I don't understand why people can't put themselves on the back burner and live in someone else's shoes for a minute. I thought it was funny, not the best, but not deserving of so much hate. @jasonflay88184 жыл бұрын
I agree, (not with the dudes can't relate part, I'm sure some of us can). Coming from the least oppressed population category, I like hearing stories of people from other walks of life with differing life experiences, especially being able to find humor in the bad parts of our lives. If anything this series is hopeful. Many of these stories come from some of the darkest periods of someone's life, if they can find humor in it, then it demonstrates whatever we all are going through, is a temporary condition.

@jekzinder166 жыл бұрын
constructive criticism is just one of the many places we are able to learn to be better people. An opinion isn't wrong, so it's good that at least someone found it funny, because I didn't. Only getting positive feedback runs you into the same problems that you would get if you were surrounded by sycophants. So it's worth a lot. And so are comments of laughter and appreciation. We need people who will point out both our strengths, and weaknesses.

maria lacambra True my answer was generic cause it’s KZbin. Her saying she has no friends is a sympathy ploy prob wrapped in truth which shows positive vulnerability until she abandons it to say she has friends which loses her previous stance & makes her look shallow/attention seeking. To go deeper into my last point for female comics, I find more so straight women comics generally speaking like to rehash talking points of what’s “supposed to be said” as truths simply because it’s currently agreed upon at a specific time. A lot of points may appear emotionally valid but can be contradictorily shallow.

A lot of the female stand ups are considered laughable or good just because they talk about things that are uncomfortable or taboo and not appropriate to say out loud. But that's it. They're like fart jokes. You heard one you heard them all. There are a few female comedians who are good, but majority are overwhelmed by the fart joke ones. You can say that men make jokes about sex and stuff and it's funny and it's the same thing. True. But there are so many good male comedians who don't talk about dicks and sex and things that are "inappropriate" and they're hilarious af. Especially clean comedians. And unfortunately female comedians see the example of the other female comedians that overwhelm the popularity and follow their example. And that's sad.

B-Phlat, Annie Lederman, and Bonnie McFarlane twice over were hilarious. This one isn't funny because it's actually just a really sad act-out story. Further, the "idgaf" delivery really doesn't fly when you're just throwing a teenage hissy fit. For me, anyway. I can't speak for anybody else here.

There are a lot of great stories from the female comedians. I think Jessa Reed had the best story that I've seen out of any in this series. But this chick doesn't have a good story to tell, she's just a typical acting drunk chick trying to be funny. I think real comedians have suffered through life enough that they have to use humor while wannabe comedians only have a couple of hours of objection in their life to try to find a joke in.
